Agenda For The Supporter`s Board

The establishment of the proposed Supporters Board is to be welcomed. in spite of those who believe it is only prompted by the new football league regulations.

The less charitable will comment that the launch with outdated photographs and staff listed, indicates a lack of attention to detail which may limit the effectiveness of this body in the future.

Clearly recruitment of `the right` people is going to be of paramount importance, and the knowledge that impartial selectors are involved is a welcome development (there is no truth that Chumlax has been barred from applying).

However in order to establish a list of future priorities we do need the Board to examine the past so we can fully understand the current ownership situation, and the cooperation of forum members in adding to the agenda will be a vital constituent.

    Agenda:

    1. Were the keys to the safe ever located, and if so what was in it?
2, Was the female staff member who was arrested for non compliance with the Owner`s wishes ever released?
    3. Why did Mr Simpson relinquish control of the club so abruptly - can we be sure no foul play was used?
    4. Were the Russo brothers beneficiaries or victims of a miscarriage of justice?
    5. Why did fan communications suffer so greatly after the departure of Aidy Boothroyd?
    6. How can the management team be restructured to restore the excellence of scouting future players with potential?
    7. Should we elevate the `Manager role` to have more influence than a Head Coach?
    8. What steps are being taken to inject more funds into the club to reduce our reliance on a single individual?

Please add discussion points so that we can empower the new group to express fan concerns more fully.

Not really but points 6-8 are `current`- and there is loads of space for members to add the future aspirations.

    1. It's a £30M war chest for the transfer window, which Val was entitled to, but rumours were rife at the time the combination had been lost.
    2. No idea, I hope she was.
    3. Saw an out - and this is Watford - can we ever be certain no shady business goes on any more?
    4. Either/Or.
    5. Because Boothroyd loved communicating with the fans and made a point to do so when he could. As soon as he left his post, for whatever reason, the club took it upon themselves to reduce or scrap that from the club artillery. It got worse as the seasons went on, and only very recently have we seen a slight upturn in fan communication.
    6. Hire component scouts. I said it then, and I'll say it now - we should have kept Ben Manga and Helena Costa. Given them time to grow the squad and get rid of Bayat.
    7. Managers don't exist any more in the modern game. A head coach is the terminology nowadays, although technically they do the same role as an outdated 'manager' would have done regardless.
    8. Well we had the "fan investment" this time last season which was a total bust (we never saw any real change), and I have no doubt the club will find someways to monetise this as well. Other than Gino reducing his asking price and getting a new owner to inject more into the club there is little we can do as fan base.

1-5 - Have nothing to dop woth current ownership but I obviously realise they are jokes.
6 - They seem to still be finding gems so not sure what else they can do with other bigger sharks circling the pond.
7 - Nobody will have more influence than Gino, that is abundantly clear.
8 - I cant see any way that other parties will want to get involved with Gino given his value of the business and how much control he wants, this counts the same for selling the club.

Def not 6. Manga was a fraud. Serious lack of due diligence regarding his appointment. It transpired that he wasn’t the main ‘gem’ finder and that he was indeed merely a cog within his club’s recruitment team. What he did have was a great deal of PR and spin around him which we believed.

That's a bit insulting to him. He clearly did a good job at Frankfurt, including building the team of scouts around him.

Ok that wasn't necessarily going to translate to the Championship and it was a stupid appointment given how we work but no need to run down his previous achievements.

If you wanted to complain about anything, would focus on why we paid well over the odds for João Ferreira who has never really featured for us but had the same agent as Manga...

But that’s the point he didn’t build the scouting team at Frankfurt he was part of a management team that did. His boss, who I apologise to not being able to recall the name of was where the overall credit sat with.

As Scott Duxbury would have been part of the decision making process in appointing him at Watford, I don’t think so as outlining this would make him look rather silly, again. Like the before hell or high water quote. I think the rhetoric around Manga is commonly now known within football.

I’m going to take a wild swing here and go for it’s something he once read on twitter and he’s decided to run with it as fact.

Oh does it matter. Manga came and went very quickly. I heard that he was useless via several sources and all that was around the club at the time was total confusion regarding recruitment, possibly not all his fault, where Giarretta was doing on thing and he was doing another leaving Bilic not knowing if he was on foot or horseback.

And that is all on Gino Pozzo who brought him and team in, while having family stooge Giaretta in an overlapping role. And at a time when transfer funds were about to dry up. Of course it wasn't going to work. Another absured decision by the owner.

Crazy how people still push this line knowing that Manga was working within massive constraints and we all know all who had the last word no matter which players Manga dug up. All roads lead to Gino.

That was where his skill set was meant to be though as I recall - finding cheap diamonds in the rough. Instead he found Ferreira and Araujo.

Gino is a loony but Manga is still a dud.

This is Manga's current role .

He is now the Director of Squad Planning, Scouting, and Youth Academy at FC Schalke 04, as announced by the club in May 2024.

If he had any significant part in building the Frankfurt squad he wouldn’t be doing this job now .

Gino got mugged off , not for the first time .

Schalke are a massive club in Germany who have been really under performing so if he and the ex Plymouth manager can get them going again will be a big achievement

Got themselves into massive financial trouble I thought, whole club was gutted as a result and they are in third tier of Germany now right? Still a massive club and the supporters are still showing up in numbers.
