Surely if that's genuinely the price they want for him (which I do doubt) then we should be seriously considering meeting it?

Just playing devils advocate here. This guy has a good goal scoring record but at a lower level. Plus it's not always as simple as how many goals they have scored. Would he fit into the way Dyche wants to play? Does anyone on here know his style of play? Is he too similar to any of the strikers we already have?

Not always just about money.

 

He's small, quick, very agile, a very good finisher and works pretty hard. I'd say he'd be a very good fit here.

 

I thought they recently turned a bid of £325k down from scunny. Even that sounds within our range.

 

I also doubt that's the real price too but he has to be worth a punt if the details are right.

Exactly - his record is superb and there must be a reason nobody has taken a punt on him yet. Even when Sheff Utd were collecting strikers for fun they never went near him.

 

but there are far more will hoskin-esqe players around than there are lionel messi's.

I'd like us to sign Le Fondre. Look at Brett Pitman, who had a similarly prolific scoring record in League 2 at Bournemouth and after a couple of months settled in very well at Bristol City. If 250k is all they're asking for it should be worth a go.

 

Rotherham fans seem to think he'll go for 500K.

 

Well if that's true then we can afford that. I'm sure he'd want to come to us, champ side, good for giving young players a go. Only issue then is does Dyche want him.

Think we are all a bit desperate for a new striker, particulary after our blank-firing-pre-season!

I'm sure we will get one and the one Dyche wants...if it's this guy then great, bring him in!

... As good as his goal scoring record is, past experiences with the likes of Hoskins would probably make me think twice before lodging a bid - I know he could turn out to be a lot better than Hoskins at this level, but he could also struggle to step up.

I'm undecided ALF, though from what I saw of Cody MacDonald - he looks like a talent as well.

 

Never worry about appearing stupid. To be underestimated is a good thing.

 

I'd rather that than be coming across as a bit of a tool with a giant stick up his arse.
