While it’s been leaked in snippets before, Politico have managed to get a copy of the whole running order for what happens when the Queen decides she’s had enough of ribbon cutting and asking people what do they do: https://www.politico.eu/article/queen-elizabeth-death-plan-britain-operation-london-bridge/ Palace furious apparently. Oh and this sort of farce is naturally involved: And of course a spontaneous but meticulously planned service at the local church:
This is the sort of crap people come out with when they've completely lost touch with reality. Deliciously stupid.
Normal TV to be cancelled apparently to allow rolling news coverage on every channel. Forced consumption of the grief seems a bit much. I imagine sport will be cancelled as well to make sure the grunts are focused.
Quite right too. The nation will need to concentrate to reflect on her marvellous reign. And more importantly, to take stock on the new epoch as we consider the ramifications of having Queen Camilla sitting beside King Charles...
I shall be taking advantage of on demand TV and even DVDs to avoid the enforced national mourning. I have nothing against the royals and I wouldn't describe myself as an anti monarchist in any way. But I find the enjoyment some seem to get from the group mourning experience quite nauseating. The Queen seems a thoroughly decent person and has been s great monarch but I will get over her passing in a few hours. I certainly won't need to watch hours and hours of coverage of her life and funeral for me to "move on".
She'll be Princess Consort when he's king, and he won't use Charles as his name. Other than that, spot on
I'll certainly miss her. A cursory look at the laundry list of buffoonish/incompetent heads of state some other countries have seen in her reign more than justifies the job she's done. Don't think Charlie's going to engender the same sense of decorum and confidence, though.
Yeah I’m the same. Queen seems very decent person. It will be sad when she passes but the forced mourning is going to be intolerable.
If they've got any sense they'll skip Charlie boy & go straight to his eldest son. They won't though.
I agree that'd be the smart move. Aside from that, quite why Charles would want to start taking it on as his age is beyond me, much like I can't understand why Biden wanted to be President at close to 80 years of age. Spend what time you have left with the family.
In fairness though, it’s highly likely he’s so old he doesn’t remember who his family are, so it’s really all the same to him.
Saw this thread and thought to myself, wasn’t the queen mother over 100 when she died, so the queen has got ages yet… looked the queen up and had absolutely no idea she was 95, thought she was about 80 or something.
Surely one for the coronation though? That might be better - you could actually enjoy your bank holiday without the poppy police having a go at you for celebrating the death of the beloved Queen and hating Britain.
I note, that in a classic manoeuvre of both cake eating and cake ownership, the Express is frothing rabidly about this while eagerly front-paging the details. Even the picture seems to suggest that the Queen is asking wtf is up with you Daily Express *****?
I remember a GCSE meeting at my daughter’s school last year where we were told to keep a specific “contingency day” free, about a week after the GCSEs were scheduled to finish. This was, we were told, in the incredibly unlikely event that one of the GCSE exams was cancelled. The only likely event that the school could foresee this happening for was the death of the Queen. That went well..
I’m impressed. I scanned that Daily Express front page and Diana isn’t mentioned once! Is this a first?
One off tax of £200 pp to pay for a gold statue to be errected in London which can then be visited at £15pp. Family rates available.
I dunno about a coronation. I think it's high time we behead another King Charles, so maybe some sort of 2 in 1 event to appeal to everyone?
Fire her lifeless corpse out of a cannon into the Diana memorial pond thing which sets off a massive firework display that lasts until dawn. Job done.
Apparently, and I remember hearing talk of this back in the seventies, he is likely to be crowned George VII. All very impressive and elaborate a piece business to outwit your fiendish plot against the monarchy. And. just to appease Moose, who is concerned at my lack of cheery banter, may I suggest that his 'Ed-ward probably stay in place for the duration. Har-old do you think Charles is by the way?
I've read through the web page and can find no mention of when Meghan and Harry will be making a statement. Got to be fake.
