Cheers to Smithy for letting me start this as a new thread rather than incorporate it into the main gambling thread.

From the 1st August i'll be trying to turn £10 into £2000 in a year via gambling. I'm confident it can be done, as i've achieved a higher amount in a smaller timeframe before. I'll be posting all the daily bets in here as well if you want to follow along. The first few weeks will be rather slow, as we build our betting bank (so 75p bets etc, and only a couple of bets a day to start off with), but profiting from gambling is certainly a marathon rather than a sprint.

Profiting via football is not only about good bets or knowledge, i'd actually say only 1/4 of it is down to good bets + knowledge, 1/4 is down to good money management, 1/4 down to discipline and the last 1/4 is luck.

If you already have a bookmakers account, i'd register another one for this challenge (most bets will be done with Paddypower so i'd recommend them, if not then Bet365 will be best) so that you don't get tempted to spend any of the winnings on drunken or silly bets.

I will be saying the exact amount to put onto each bet, so it'll be as easy to follow as possible.

Tips will usually be posted up the night before, but will always be up by 9am at the latest.

Will be interesting to see if it can be done. If it was that easy then Bookies would all be out of business. Turning £10 into £2000 is akin to betting the £10 on a horse that was 200-1, IE a 3 legged one.

Good luck reids, I shall follow with great interest. Heck, I might even follow your tips on Betfair to see if I can make more than you ;). Make sure to post nice and early if possible.

It's certainly not easy, but it can be done, when I started taking betting seriously (about June last year) I started with £20. I decided to spend less time on it around xmas and withdrew all but £100, I had over £3000 in my various accounts (and had 5 bet365 accounts closed in that time as well). From that £100 i'm now up to about £300 from the odd pre-game or inplay bet. But i'll be taking things seriously again now, so fully expect to profit, if not £2k then at least £1k!

I'll just be happy to get back the £37.50 I lost on bloody Watford last night.

I'll be following this one keenly.

Very generous to allow us to follow it Reids.

The BET365 accounts you had closed - was that them that closed the accounts because you kept winning, or did you close them yourself?

They closed them, the *******s. The account that got closed the quickest was closed just 12 hours after registering, but at £900 profit so can see why that wasn't viable to them haha

I lost my own Bet365 account because I took advantage of some slow adjustments of their horse odds. They are one of the best bookies for odds, but quick to remove consistent winners.

When they close your account can you withdraw the money still?

What do they say when they close them? What excuse do they use?

My account is with Bet365, but I have never been even threatened with having it closed.

I'm the type of mug punter they love!

Yes, they never withold money unless bonus's are being abused, then they might hold on to money won with freebets.

    Dear Bonus Abuser,

I am contacting you with regards to your bet365 account.

Having reviewed your account, we are no longer able to offer you our telephone betting service. However, our online service is fully active and available to you to be able to place all of your future bets.

In order to reward new and existing customers, bet365 make regular offers such as bonuses and free bets.

These offers are expensive and bet365 policy is therefore not to allow them to customer accounts where we consider that the offers could make a significant difference to the likely profitability of this account.

Unfortunately, your account has been identified in this way, and whilst you may continue to bet online with bet365 and receive offers in our Casino, Games and Poker Room, we are notifying you that your account will not be eligible for bet365 sports book offers in future.

If you require any further assistance, our team are available 24 hours a day by Live Chat, email at support@customerservices365.com, or call 08000 288 365 and we will be pleased to assist you.

    Kind Regards

    Georgina
    The bet365 Team

This might make it look like I can still bet with them online, but my limits were effectively set to pennies.

"Not economically viable" is what I believe they say. Then you're limited to a max bet of £5. I was part of a gambling syndicate back when this happened, and we all one day decided to stake small amounts on a Russian division 2 game that was very much favouring the away team, but we backed the home team hoping it would flag something on Bet365 systems. It did, they **** themselves and then changed the odds so that the home team was favourite. Then we all logged onto our main Bet365 accounts and slammed hundreds down on the now generously priced away team and handicaps and won an absolute fortune. From that point on they outright closed the accounts rather than limiting them, it felt like something out of Oceans 11 almost. Was quality.

Yes, otherwise I imagine they'd be in trouble with trading standards!

I can vouch for Reids, mates in real life (gambling fweeend)

Last year a few of us gave him 20 quid to gamble with on our behalf with him taking a 5% cut of the profits as he was doing the research and keeping excel spreadsheets etc - 4 months later I was about 400 quid better off, 200% return on my investment - kept a track of what he was betting on and some of the knowledge he has on far away leagues and teams is incredible, who knew the Icelandic Womens league 1 could be so profitable eh?

Haha I actually said that at the time, I was gambling for 17 people at the peak of it. But then it all got too much effort updating 17 different spreadsheets every day so packed it in.

I know it can be done. The trouble with online betting is you cant upscale your bets and make a long term living from it, because they shut you down or limit your account if you win consistently.

    Good luck reids.

  28. reids

I made £2.5k on my first 365 account before they shut me down, and that was over the space of 4 months or so, sure 2k in a year is do-able without the account being touched

Either Bet365 or Paddypower would be the best. I'll personally be using PaddyPower for it.

First bets up next Wednesday evening.

I know it probably isn't, but this sounds like a massive scam - Reids gets dozens of us to bet on an event, altering the odds of the true outcome, he'll take advantage of the generous odds and scoop thousands.

    I'm in.

Did they actually close your account, or just let you bet max 10p or something? I have never had one shut just low limits? Do they shut it down or send you an email ?

I provide my reasoning for all the bets and back it up with stats, and a main part of the challenge will be an under 4.5 goals accumulator, similar to what i've been doing in the gambling thread, would serve no purpose to me.

See my comment at somepoint during this thread, they used to limit until a bunch of us ripped them off, from that point they closed them outright. I've stopped using them now though, and haven't had a problem with PP.

That sort of return is very very high, I tipped Thomas cook shares a couple of years ago to friends and they went 10 fold, that is the best I have ever done on my own research, made about £7000, but I also tipped about 4 other shares that are worth about 10-40% of what they were worth, so up a bit, was it luck or skill, I dont know.

Good luck to those who do it, will be very interesting to see the outcome

It's only a tender at the end of the day. Worth it for a bit of fun over the season, and if it all goes Peter tong reids will just have to put up with #bantz.

Problem is, if the bookies see a whole load of us chucking money down on random games they'll lower the odds and we'll get less value.
