There must be something?? Anything!!! For the love of God give me something!!! The Kone and Porteous signings are the only silver linings I can find amongst the clouds hovering over the Vic. Jury is still out on the new sporting director and whether Gino will let him do his job I guess. If we hear concrete news of Gino selling up before the end of the season then that will count as good news I suppose. That's all I have.
Porteois The dawning for some fans that running a football club involves more than building a statue and improving the stadium The realisation for others that there are other things to do on a Saturday afternoon
4-0 against Luton. Adeyemo's goal. Sarr vs West Brom. Asprilla's breakthrough season-ish. Probably the only things I'll remember fondly from this season.
Not having to sign Tufan from last season. Beating the thugs 4-0. 100th Anniversary game was a great occasion despite us playing below par and needing a very late goal to win. Double over Norwich. Hopefully seen the back of Bayat at last. Manga and Costa coming into the fold to hopefully be a step in the right direction.
Speaking of which, Bayo's other winning goal was a nice moment, a rare pleasant surprise in recent times
He's done alright, but not great for the team 17th in the Championship. As above, I don't think him being okay at 17th placed Hull in the Chanpioship counts as him "prospering"; especially when he was brought over for the PL. And on that note, which other players in recent seasons have actually prospered elsewhere after flopping here?! Even those we lost in recent seasons who we probably wanted to keep, like Hughes, Chalobah and Dennis, have hardly pulled up trees at the clubs since leaving.
So Dawson gives a mighty one example, but no one will convince me that Zeegelaar and Success still aren't crap just because they sometimes play for Udinese.
The fat git who's sat at the end of our row for years went through with his pledge not to renew his season ticket this year, meaning I no longer need to perform painful physical contortions to squeeze past him on the way to my seat. And Porteus
Welbeck, Richarlison and Capoue have done well, about the only ones I can think of, I think Geri did ok at Udi though.
Bringing in Ubenga and Costa. And hopefully for next season a new manager with ambition and youth. Porteous. Won't be here much longer if he carries on his development curve. Asprilla getting his first professional goal. Kone will be an excellent player. Adeyemo getting his first goal. First supporter to bear a Pozzo Out banner at the stadium. Other than that a disaster of a season. Pozzo completely screwed over Edwards with an awful August transfer window. We're about to lose two more bright talents from the Academy and the whole club is in a mess in multiple departments. It will take a monumental effort in the summer to turn it around. And that requires Pozzo to sell up or not interfere. Unlike his father he has not one iota of business acumen. Lord knows how he passed Harvard Business School. He has all the credentials though to be an excellent politician.
Bit early to class that as something that has gone right. This summer will be a good indicator if they are any good.
I suppose so but he has a proven track record. If he is allowed to get on with it I think we have something to look forward to LBH. That it has taken this long is a disgrace. As @reids will tell you a lot of scouting is in the numbers and sheer analysis. You can identify players and then look at them in person, find out about their personalities and character and so on. I mean reids has an excellent list of mini scout data all the time.
Richarlison and Capoue both did well for us as well though, as did Geri. Welbeck can I guess be added to Dawson, though he was basically never fit while with us.
Very unfortunate but hardly been injured at Brighton . Bad luck or another example of how poor the medical team are .?
The 4 nil Watford Women's team. FA Youth Cup run. Unearthed a young talent in Adeyamo and actually signed him up. By having all of our over 30s players getting injuries that saw them sidelined for substantial periods of time (Cleverley, Gosling, Kabasele, Cathcart, Gaspar, Kalu) the club appears to have woken up to the plain stupidity of these kind of deals - if we losing 300k a week these 6 are probably at least a quarter of that loss..... Luther back on the pitch during games. This season's kits were nice.
Very pleased we signed Adeyamo, but I think it’s way too early to get too excited about him. It was great that he scored that goal but, having also watched him in the Cup game, he’s not exactly a sensation yet and could just be an early developer.
The likes of Morris, Andrews and Adeyemo being given chances and putting on decent displays is another good thing.
Jury’s out. All this talk of new contracts for Cleverley and Cathcart points towards he’s just a deck chair rearranger.
Yes hence the maybes....plus his team brought us the kid from Benfica who's acting like he's never played football with adults before. Let's see what happens over the summer. I still don't understand why someone with real credibility agreed to come to this circus.
For four weeks in November and December, I didn't have to watch Watford. It was a welcome break from a dark, miserable existence.
I have had trouble at all using the NFC equipment to read tickets in my phone wallet. For me it’s been the biggest improvement on last season, building on the competition of the multi storey car park behind the Rookery. An honourable mention on food kiosk ordering, another improvement through the season. If only the on the pitch side of the business had kept up with these improvements.
