What a moment for the young lad on Graham Taylor day of all days! Got to be worth a start next weekend surely
A brilliant moment to see an academy lad score on his debut. He was full of running and endeavour - delighted he got his reward.
Really surprised very few posts on him, he did well as sub at Reading, played the 90 minutes in the Fa youth cup win over Everton and then scores what could have been the winner on his league debut on Graham Taylor day in the 72th minute, a fantastic week for the youngster congratulations to him and his family and best of luck for the future!
So pleased to see this and to witness his joy. For so long I've envied other clubs with their young players, especially having grown up seeing Jackett,Terry,Gibbs etc etc. Let's hope he continues to learn and improve with us. Well played Tobi!
There was a very sweet moment after the final whistle where he walked along the whole of the front of the Rookery and high fived everyone in the front row. Lovely to see.
What a great week for the lad! Nice to see the effort he put in. Most definitely not ready for a start though but then again in Bayo is the only option…
It was a great moment for him. I’ve just seen his interview and he’s a really humble lad. So excited to have played and scored. It’s wonderful to see that. Just realised that he was playing for Hitchjn only 2 weeks ago in the 7th tier of football. Debut against Reading last week, knocking out Everton in the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday now scoring the Championship.
I also just watched the interview. Isn’t sport just great at creating magical scenarios. That young boy is so elated and emotional. Seems like a lovely lad. I hope that the last week will always be treasured for the young players, but that it is only the beginning of their hornets adventures.
Great to see an academy product score. Plus he’s a proper academy graduate - been at the club since October 2018 according to his bio on the club website.
I actually expected Adu-Poku to be the one to get his chance, seemed fully equipped for men's football. Shaq Forde as well is seen as our best prospect, and he must be kicking himself for agreeing to go on loan. Not trying to detract from Adeyemo, but he's possibly fortunate to be the one called upon, and he's taken his chance wonderfully
Adeyemo was more noticeable when he came on in the second half at Reading as he put himself about a lot, whereas Adu-Poku was more reactive played well but needed the ball played to him, Forde has done well and played three games on the trot, nice position to have let’s hope they can replace some or all of our non- firing over paid mercenary players we have accumulated!
He has but let’s not assume he’s going to be a first choice striker for a while. We still need to bring someone in this month, or at the very least, Davis to be fit/well and back to his best form including finding the back of the net regularly.
Definitely not. As pleased as I was for him, I'm still none the wiser at what he's good at. Still he's probably likely to get a chance next week, and he's currently a better option than Bayo by default
That's an unfair ask for Davis really, given he's not done either in his career to date. That would be unprecedented form rather than his best!
Yep. Really it's quite shocking that a 17 year old striker making his debut in mid January is only 3 goals behind our other strikers
He has shown good form on occasions this season. Certainly "acceptable" if he could continue that best form but a new better signing would be preferable of course.
As much as I'd love Adeyemo to get minutes for the rest of the season I doubt that's going to happen with Bilic still wanting another striker. Hopefully his goal will have alerted some League Two/National League clubs, a good loan for the rest of the season could be the making of him.
No harm in loaning him out, but a combo of him, grieves or adu poku off the bench for the rest of the season could be something to get fans invested again. Seeing his goal yesterday gave me a little shiver, that I havnt felt as a Watford fan for quite some time.
What a shame when we’re talking about a young lad scoring his first goal that you feel to make that comment
He wasn't really playing for Hitchin though. It was a one month work experience loan, as they had a lot of injuries. Hitchen did say on 23rd Dec that they were extending his loan till 18th Jan but not sure how that worked as he didnt make the squad on Boxing Day and was obviously back here before that date. There is no transfer window at that level, so it was to help them out whilst they sorted out cover. He was there for only 3 games, he wasnt in the squad twice and he made the bench once and came on in that game for 11 minutes. Probably makes this week all the more remarkable.
