Possibly so, although Tufan and Rose is a bit like the court case between the Hamiltons and Al Fayed. You rather hope both will lose!
I suspect one of those chaps is responsible for the two dents in the dome at the tennis club. I thought it was the butt of a racket but on second thoughts... (cue Kenny W!)
G*kmen *zcan @gokmenozcan BİLGİ Beşiktaş, Domagoj Vida'yı bonservis istemeden g*ndermeye yeşil ışık yaktı. Watford'ın takibindeki Hırvat stoperin, 1.7 milyon €'luk ikinci yarı alacağı karşılığında gidiş izni hazır. Translated from Turkish by INFORMATION Beşiktaş gave the green light to send Domagoj Vida without asking for a testimonial. The Croatian defender, who is following Watford, is allowed to go in exchange for 1.7 million € second half receivables Looks like this one is happening. He's now following Watford on Twitter.
If he joins and we stay up, I want to see him jump in the pond and wash his hair with Timotei to celebrate.
An experienced international, a leader and definitely better than Cathcart and Troost Ekong, so what's not to like!? For an alleged 1.7m it's a risk free signing (providing he doesn't do something stupid like give him a 5 year deal)! Happy with that. Samir & Vida along with Kamara are decent acquisitions to the defence and a big improvement on what we currently have.
On one hand I am negative because I am not convinced is good enough to keep us up. However, it will at least mean I hopefully never have to see Crapcart or WTE again this season which is silver lining.
Said many people before on this very forum in many previous seasons before then watching him play plenty.
Im not going to pretend I watch Besiktas every week, but Ive seen enough of him to know he isn't a coward like those two are. If Troost Ekong or Cathcart played for Besiktas and put in the kinds of performances they have done for us of late, I would fear for their personal safety.
Exactly. He's better than what we currently have, so is likely to improve us. No guarantees of course, but I don't know what people expect in this current market. A highly experienced Croatian international and fans still turn their noses up at it. We're a small club struggling against relegation. Some people really need a grasp of reality and accept these signings are much better than the crud we were getting before the Pozzo's rocked up.
No one has turned their nose up. I think everyone has been pretty united in saying he has pedigree and is very likely better than what we have. But there is also areas of concern, both with signing a 32yr old who seems to be being pushed out of his club and fans aren’t overly sad about…and the wider picture of quite how Gino continues to recruit. I like the signing. I’m just not sure it’s enough. But I far far prefer this guy to Samir.
Will we get any deal over the line in time for Newcastle? Samir and Sierralta could still be fine, but Samir and Vida does appear to have the makings of a solid partnership.
I know I'm being greedy but with Nkoulou out I still think we could do with one more, preferably someone young who can act as a back-up. Not going to happen as we have WTE, Sierralta, Cathcart and Kabasele on our books but they are all pretty hopeless.
Agreed. We needed 2 when the window opened…but I think that became 3 when Nkoulou was ruled out. But I agree they won’t do it in this window.
We need to bear in mind it takes a bit of time for defenders to develop an understanding. Throwing 3 decent new defenders in together with little time working together could lead to just as many errors as the tried and untrusted WTE and Cathart have made.
The only difference is, Cathcart, Sierralta, WTE, Kabs and any combo of those players WILL make mistakes. Samir and Vida MIGHT make mistakes, but it's not a guarantee, as it's an unknown.
If we sign Vida, it will be interesting to see what the backline looks like in those 3 games. I have a feeling Ranieri may be concerned about introducing too many new faces into the defensive unit in one go to avoid too many "both going for the same ball" or "leaving it for eachother" moments. I bet Cathcart still plays in all 3.
Our awful defenders make basic mistakes every match which lead directly to goals so I don’t see what we have to lose by starting the new guys.
2 bad mistakes a game ? We'll see, hopefully they have some time together on the training pitch before playing together, though looks like Saturday will come too soon for Vida.
If Cathcart plays, it will be at RB I bet. I doubt Vida would start Saturday given it’s Tuesday evening now. But Sierralta will need to perform to keep his place I think. But imagine these new defenders will all start sooner rather than later. I bet Ranieri is as sick of their mistakes as we are and I think they all left the last chance saloon a long time ago. Cathcart’s versatility may have bought him a bit of time at RB or a spot if we go to a back 3. Injury crisis aside, I don’t think WTE or Kabasele will be seen again this season.
How about avoiding ducking under the ball, passing directly to the opposition at the edge of the box or giving away needless penalty moments?
In a normal team chuntering along at a steady pace, say us in 17/18, holding them back to acclimatise and bed in makes a decent amount of sense. In our current situation, there is no penalty for throwing any and all in as soon as possible, and given we have brought them in to shake things up entirely and break the hold of the abysmal kunts currently playing there, it would be counter to their very recruitment not to. The time for cautious pussywillowing is over.
Yeah, I mean they couldn’t possibly do any worse, and when you say that normally about anything in life, it’s normally said in the knowledge that there is a good chance you tempt fate and you end up with egg on your face. In this instance there is literally no chance of that being the case, it just isn’t possible.
No, I googled willowing to check if it was a saying and saw it was associated with a flower of some kind. I prefer it, and its potential for ruder undertones for the mind to connect the invisible dots to.
My biggest concern is that these new signings are being heralded as our saviours by some on here and social media, it's a worry as our fans are usually clueless and get it wrong.
There is definitely every chance they aren’t our saviour, but they’re our only hope. They can’t really be any worse so you can see the logic that they should at least improve us even slightly.
