I noticed that a new forum user based in Mexico became the latest new member of this forum recently, which got me wondering just how many overseas WFC fans actually use this forum.

Therefore if you guys that are either ex-pats or overseas nationals would not mind introducing or even re-introducing yourselves on this thread to all us "Prisoners of Mother England" as the Aussies call us, it would be really great.

It would be nice to get to know you all and very interesting to know where you are based in the world.

    Hey TVOR
    I'm based in Thailand
Pretty lonely this way there was a small group a few years back, but think they moved away/back before I came out (2018) so just me. I always get a few funny looks wearing the shirt out
On the bright side I can watch all 38 games on TV for very cheap

I’m in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I know another Watford fan that lives in the city, I set up an international fan group called the Alberta Hornets which has connected about 9 of us. Most live in Calgary. We’ve had a few golf get togethers but only the same 3 turn up too. Definitely a plus getting to watch every match on the tv over here sometimes not so much fun getting up at 530 am and having a dire performance wrecking the rest of your day. I don’t think any of the other Alberta members are on here but could be wrong.

I'm in Arvika Sweden near the Norwegian border. No other Watford fans I know of in the area. The locals are your normal mix of Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea Fans. We have a small group of expat Brits that all support their local teams all different, Man city, Wigan, Bristol City, Sunderland, Reading, West Ham and Millwall surprisingly the last two get on really well. Still have a season ticket that Watford and get over as much as possible.

    I'm in 'Murika.

Oddly enough, I ran into Jay DeMerit's aunt and uncle a number of years back in a bizarre coincidence, before Jay won his first USMNT cap. I was probably the only person in the state at the time (outside of their family) who knew who he was, so the odds of running into each other must have been astronomically small.

Another one from Sweden in the city of Lund, close to Copenhagen.

I came on to this forum some years ago to find out how my nephew was getting along in the club. Found out that I like to read and follow what happens at the club. The general banter always interesting and entertaining. Takes me back to the times when I lived and worked in Norwich and Essex for 9 years around the Millenium shift, (not as a footballer!)

Mostly big six supporters here, mainly Man u and Liverpool though.
    Watford supporters are rare indeed.
Began following the team in the nineties when I lived there.
Returned home in 2000 and was difficult then as media only covered the big clubs but its so much easier now.
Haven't got to a match in years, intended going with friends for a 50th but covid put the brakes on that.
Can't wait to get back to the vic

I live in Sydney. I know one other Watford supporter here. However, for big games, like the cup final, you will get 20 or 30 supporters watching at the casino. As the name suggests, I used to live in Phnom Penh. I never met another Watford supporter there.

Hi, I’m living in Chiba, next to Tokyo. No other supporters here that I know and I’m just happy to meet any of the locals that support a team out of the top 6. I’ve tried to get into watching the football teams out here, but the atmosphere is just a bit too clean and friendly. Sounds strange I know, but there’s just no banter between different sets of fans here. They even wait for the other team’s supporters to finish singing before they start their own chants. Very polite!

I have done a couple of times, but found it a bit depressing. At least they play in yellow! Kashiwa play at a bit better level and play in yellow, too, but a tad more difficult to reach.
Are you in the area as well?

No, but spent a lot of time in Tokyo, working around Otemachi, Kayabacho, etc. Worked with a mad Jef United fan but they were always a bit rubbish iirc.

I'm in Christchurch, NZ. I went to see Wellington Phoenix game a while ago, who play in yellow, and saw a young girl in a Watford shirt. Her dad came from St Albans. There is an NZ supporters group on Facebook but I've never met any of them and only look at Facebook about once a year, around Christmas.
I was born not far from Highbury but spent all my school years in Croxley and I started going to the Vic at an early age. I was in the same class as Kelso's sister. I have fears for Kelso. I hope he's alright.

I've been in touch with Courtney (iirc). Currently eyeing the West ham game in between Xmas and NYE. Have to say her responses were not exactly 'warm' compared to previous interactions. Bit disappointing

Any other overseas orns going to that game?

Maybe in lieu of supporters from WD18 that we know due to all being overseas we could all meet for a beer

Moved to La Nucia in Spain in November 2019. Been going to games for 50-odd years (first game a 5-2 defeat to QPha). Still got my season ticket but only been to 2 games so far, Villa (good) and Liverpool (not so!). Not aware of any other Watford in this area but if you travel 20 minutes down the road to a place called Benidorm (!) you do see the occasional Watford shirt amongst the hordes of Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool etc.

Thanks I'll give them a shout. May stay through to Leicester away if I can sort out the logistics, luckily those tickets easier to get

When asking for the home ticket also ask for Leicester ticket too. Only time I’ve not been successful is spurs away when it was last game at the old white heart lane, as this was unique they’d sold out and never kept the few extra tickets for international supporters

I’ve only come across one set of Watford fans in my 10 years here, but it was at half-time of England - Italy last summer and I was absolutely battered. They were American, and from what I can remember, they supported Watford because their boy had been in the academy for a few years. He was wearing a Chalobah shirt, and his old man had a lovely vintage Solvite one. I probably terrified them.

I did see a bloke in a Stoke shirt riding his bike around my neighborhood last week, though.

When I was serving in the Army we were in Belize doing some adventure training. Whilst sailing around these remote Belize islands on one that was probably 4km long 2km wide, I’m wearing a Watford shirt and in the distance someone starts screaming “who let the Orn’s out” he was with a couple of other lads palarse and qphaha fans back packing around Central America. Probably strangest place I’ve met one of us.
