Glad to see the 'he's just too rippling with stacked muscle' myth is growing fresh roots in the wake of his departure.

Literally no idea why people insist he is/has ever been built like some sort of bodybuilder, or that that was the problem. Whenever he was "too big" it was because he was too fat, not because he was built like Ronnie Coleman.

Unfortunately the Liverpool goal is the only one of those from recent times. There may have been more of them lately, but I'd need to watch the highlights of individual matches from the last two seasons to refresh my memory, as the video posted of all the Deeney goals only goes up to the end of 2018/19.

Cheers for your efforts with that compilation LondonOrn.

And what a reminder of just how depressing it was with empty stadia (stadiums also fine; common usage).

Why on earth did we let Navarro go???

Troy quoted in the Sun saying he could got England caps - not sure when?

Since Harry Kane burst into the England team not many other strikers have had many chances !

It’s why Vardy quit England .

Tbf I could've got England caps as well. If I were fit enough and good enough, but I never have been and either has Troy.

I'm guessing the only likely time TD would have been looked at would have been in the Spring of 2016, having been in the EPL for nearly a season and scoring I'm sure Hodgson (I think he was the manager then) may have considered looking at Troy in a friendly before confirming his Euro 2016 squad in case of injuries to other higher placed strikers.

I do wonder what Troy will do after he finally hangs up the boots. Lots of speculation he will go into media, and this is a possibility - be it a strong one. However, I would like see him maybe work on coaching badges. He has a football brain
and I could perhaps see him playing the sort of Solskjar (sp?) role for Brum or even back here.

I think there was a tiny window of opportunity sometime around the back end of 15/16 (as @Otter suggests) and then into the following season. But Hodgson didn't take the bait, nor did Fat Sam and then Southgate made it clear he wanted to take a different path and that was it for Troy.

Although probably competition for a place up front was higher, it's worth pointing out luminaries such as Dominic Solanke, Jack Cork, Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert were capped in the couple of years either side of then.

Yep, there was as much chance of any of us getting called up by Southgate as there was for Troy.

Yes - Southgate tends to go for the youngsters and the fact he only had one other striker at the Euros shows he’d rather have Kane and then a load of wide options up front.
Yes - Troy probably just missed the boat there.

Hodgson would have probably had him taking corners !

Yep, that's pretty much spot on.

I think he can count himself unlucky that he didn't get at least one. He was in great form in the period just before Southgate came in and probably deserved it at the time, given the other forwards around the squad in that period.

Yes, there was definitely a squad announcement where there was a lot of media speculation and anticipation that Troy might be called up and I remember the disappointment once it was announced and he'd been overlooked.

He actually might not have been a bad player to start against Iceland (although that's with the benefit of hindsight as we didn't know at the time how badly that game was going to unravel) as with his leadership qualities (much more evident back then than in recent seasons) and his experience against unorthodox opposition he might have been a steadying influence. Trouble is, though almost none of them had a good tournament, it's hard to see how Hodgson would have been bold enough to pick him ahead of Kane, Sterling, Rooney or Sturridge. And he's never been a great player to bring on and improve the course of the game.

A lot of fans questioning him and the signing now. Unfortunately getting his dream move won't suddenly make him into an effective striker again.

Incredible that half our fanbase thought he should be playing for us in the PL this season!!!! I just hope those Watford fans who backed Troy over the last 18 months remember what they did and never, ever express any view, opinion or belief about any aspect of WFC ever again! Those people simply do not know what football is.

If I recall correctly, you're in a different time zone, so I'll assume this was a 'wee small hours of the morning' post. Thank God that your post at 9:36pm lets us all know that at least you are out there knowing what football is...

Steel city horn, I'm STILL waiting to hear your body count. Is it really so low you can't bring yourself to admit it in public? And yes you're right, I said from summer 2020 Troy needs to go and we need to play 433 with Sarr in a free role. The point Im making is that if you thought Troy was good enough to play in the Champo last season (he proved over 19 games he clearly wasnt) or god forbid in the PL this season, you clearly don't know what football is. Maybe it's a social thing for you, or something you do to pass the time, I dont know but it clearly isnt something you know anything about at all. Its great you support Watford but please don't express any opinions about the club when you clearly arent qualified to have one (I suspect this also extends to your understanding and experience of women, given your bizarre views on the connection between relationships and flossing). There's nothing wrong with having a low body count or being clueless about football and women but please dont keep muddying the waters with your ignorance. Keep on flossing dude!!

Because I highlighted how astoundingly moronic and completely ignorant about the basics of football the thousands of Deeney Simps in the Watford fanbase really are? The idea that these people continue to express opinions about football after been proved to be so completely clueless and detrimental to the well being of our club is quite terrifying.

It's not like you to make assumptions based on your own delusions Steel City Horn. Are u aware that there are as many time zones behind GMT as ahead? In future if you want to make disparaging comments I suggest you contact me privately and give me a topic, I will then provide you with an accurate topic based insult. For example it seems you wanted to insult me on the basis that I'm not currently in the UK (are you aware that over 7.5 billion humans are 'not currently in the UK'?) and made a ridiculous comment about time zones and wee hours. A more accurate insult would have been: 'It seems the high humidity and turbo charged local coffee is warping your mind' you're welcome!

Let’s worry about the strikers that are still at the club.

We can let Birmingham worry about Troy .

Troy's problem was never his accuracy (or his power). The problem was the time he needs to tee himself up and in later years his inability to get into goalscoring positions. The key to his curled chips is that he has time to tee himself up.

Not too long ago, a poster expressed concern/curiosity as to what Moosegasm would do with his time now that Troy is no longer at WFC.

Apparently the answer was under our noses all along!

LOL the problem I have is that I dont really understand what's going on at the moment so I don't have any strong opinions to voice apart from that 4141 is probably not a very good idea. Will be interesting to see if Leeds play it this weekend after it's got them 3 points from 18.

From what I've seen this season we seem to be pretty crap and if we played our 1st 6 games again we'd be lucky to get 4 points from them. I'm hoping that we are currently less than the sum of our parts in which case there is potential to improve. I have no idea what our best midfield is let alone how they could play together after we dropped a bomb on our magic trio from last season. Bachmann and Sierralta were povotal last season and have contributed very little this season which is concerning. Kiko seems to be on the verge of injury whenever he touches the ball. We rely way too much on Sarr and he gets shut out of games too easily. The rehabilitation of Danny Rose is a joy to behold, if only we had a DCM or a creative midfielder playing at that level. It all seems a bit of a mess right now and whatever 'system' it is that we are trying to play it doesnt seem to be working. It's true that if we get relegated we'll be in better shape than last season and if we hadnt been promoted this season BUT we really should be fighting for our lives to stay up. I don't wanna be Norwich and when you go down you have no idea how long it'll take to get back. I believe we have a squad that could keep us up, but looking at what has happened in the first 6 games it is looking like quite a shambolic, disjointed, halfar$€d stab at survival. We need a system that works but I'm not a football coach so Im not sure how we can make that happen right now. It does seem like the key this season is gonna be getting the midfield trio right as Xisco did so effectively last season. but that clearly hasnt happened yet. Maybe Sissoko, Clevs and Tufan will work, I don't know.

Moose, I'm sorry mate, but this has to be said: it is literally not possible to make yourself sound more pathetic as a middle-aged (at least, as far as I can tell from your autobiographical postings) man than by asking someone what their 'body count' is in some kind of dicck-measuring contest on an internet football forum. Or believing that there is any relative worth to be drawn whatsoever from said 'body count'. Or referring to it as a 'body count'.

  35. Moosegasm

    Moosegasm Reservist

I asked Steel City Gold what his body count was in response to him claiming that I dont floss (actually I don't) and consequently am unsuccessful with women (I'm not). It was obvious to me that someone who used the word 'girlfriend' the way he did and made such a weird reference to flossing was unlikely to have had much success with women so given his disparaging speculation about my good self, I asked Steel City Gold what his body count is and told him mine. Body count is a common term that a lot of people use. It's got nothing to do with age or the length of your D but I'd bet Isma Sarr moving to Palace my D is bigger than Steel City Horn's. In terms of body count I half agree with you in that the worth is solely to the individual concerned. There is no perfect number. Personally I'd be happy to come in at the 75 mark when I finally put away the Cialis. I have a mate whose over 1000 and a female friend in the mid 100s as well as others under 10. It's all down to individual preferences.

From your posts you appear to be a Millenial, I personally laugh in the face of people who use the term 'middle aged' in a disparaging way especially if they piss their pants about other types of prejudice.

My advice to you, young Milennial is this, assuming you live long enough: 1)Try to hit middle age as late as possible and 2)When u do hit middle age make sure you've already done everything you wanted to do in your life. In my experience those are the 2 things that make middle age the most fulfilling. Middle age is extremely enjoyable if you get it right. Keeping in relatively good shape and learing how to F are also very good ideas, if often overlooked by the average British male. I can't imagine many worse things for a woman than being under an out of shape guy who's useless in bed.
