    I'll have a look

  2. Should people who choose to go to football stadiums, nightclubs, university lecture theatres not be able to be protected from those who take a much more cavalier approach to personal and public health?

Cases have fallen for 6 days in a row now anyway, so we can all chill out a bit.

If it is a fact that not having the jab makes someone a threat to others then, yes, of course people should be protected from them. But that is my point, there doesn't seem to be any unequivocal evidence to support the view that being jabbed makes someone any less likely to transmit the covid germ than someone who has been.
This is from one of the millions of articles on the BBC site about it: There are two main types of immunity you can achieve with vaccines. One is so-called "effective" immunity, which can prevent a pathogen from causing serious disease, but can't stop it from entering the body or making more copies of itself. The other is "sterilising immunity", which can thwart infections entirely, and even prevent asymptomatic cases. The latter is the aspiration of all vaccine research, but surprisingly rarely achieved.

I thought it was simply that the iller you are the more contagious you are for longer. The vaccine replicates the virus spike protein, so gives the body a chance to recognise it when it comes along for real, and deal with it either without you knowing, or in a much milder way than it might have without it. If you’d instead be coughing and spluttering for a week, you’d be shedding more virus?

If the efficacy of the vaccine is something around 90% then surely it follows transmission of the virus will also be drastically reduced too?

Aye, it's crushingly disappointing for the Indy SAGE bores on Twitter, but they'll go again next week once they (hope) the effects of Freedom Day start to work their way into the numbers.

That makes sense but you don't have to have a coughing fit to spread it. Just breathing out is enough apparently.

You wont need to look as far as twitter.

That’s the classic mistake of assuming people who are pessimistic or critical want the bad thing to happen. It’s a bit of a ‘cricket’ test.

It’ll be nicer, after 130k deaths, if the ‘it’s just like the flu’ mob finally get a win.

A better equivalent is speed limits.

That’s true of some people but there are plenty who would welcome absolute carnage if it means they get to rant at the Tories on Twitter.

Really? I would suggest that it may seem that way, but isn’t really. It’s the latest tool for those who have been wishing away inconvenient truths for more than a year.

However, while I certainly don’t wish these bungling Tory clowns get any kind of win from this, much rather that than more suffering or indeed more real potency from the virus.

Interesting story about an attempt to get social media influencers to spread vaccine misinformation. Not clear on behalf of who, but possibly the Russians, to undermine the credibility of vaccines used in the West.

Alarming news for Watford’s fanbase as it appears Covid symptoms vary with age. Broadly speaking those over 60 are more likely to get the raging sh.its.

Fortunately, in the way nature so often compensates, those in younger categories are more likely to lose their sense of smell, thus reducing the likelihood of conflict in inter-generational homes.

Quite restrained for the Mail, they could’ve said if coronavirus mutates to become as deadly as Ebola then it will kill 50% of people.

Went to Goodwood on Saturday. First event I’ve been to since this thing began where Covid didn’t seem to be a “thing” any more. No masks, no social distancing. It felt nice to feel “normal” again but also quite weird.

16 & 17 year olds to be allowed to have the vaccine and no parental consent required.

Exactly. So it's a bit odd government ministers were so circumspect about the question of consent in the days leading up. It just fuels the conspiracy nonsense.
