Just watching Vydra imposing himself on the game at Chelsea, zero input. Be careful what you wish for.
A team worth several hundred million pounds ~ a particularly weak set of Championship teams. Yeah - they're the same.
Last chance to prove himself by Dyche with a start against Chelsea. Didnt do anytbing, hauled off on 57 minutes. He’s coming home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Out till like January I think with an ACL. If he’s lost some pace he’s finished. Still my favourite Pozzo player so I’m all for it.
Given Vydra is 30, recovering from an ACL, turned down the offer he got from Burnley, I assume it would be a pretty expensive free transfer in terms of wages and high risk as to what his future contribution will look like. Sadly I think it may be best to keep the memories and accept we made a huge error 7 (?) years ago. Loved watching him play and those goals against Leicester were the goals of a real quality striker....but sadly 9 years ago....
Great example of how a player that leaves in good form is 10x better than he actually is in the eyes of the fans. His Premier League record makes Gray look profilic
Peñaranda and Success WERE top talents, Craig Dawson WAS a Prem level defender, see a pattern emerging here?
Yes I think I can spot it . But I believe Gray's goals per minute weren't that bad even after he joined us.
Harsh comparison tbf. Vydra was actually a good footballer. Gray on the other hand... He would offer so much more than Gray, even if he's not quite a pact as he once was. Not saying he'd be a good signing. Reckon he'll end up in the Czech league.
Would take him, but not as a replacement for JP, or Sarr. Obviously depends on his wages etc. A useful squad player, maybe. It's a shame he's only 30. If he was 35 we'd be throwing a 5 year contract his way.
Not really that harsh. Good footballer or not, Vydra is in the side to score goals. Vastly overrated player, who benefited hugely from Deeney playing alongside him
Just looked it up because I was bored lol, Gray scored 23 in 115 in the Prem, (a goal every 254 mins, and had a goal contribution every 188 mins), Vydra scored 11 in 106, with the same number of assists (a goal every 347 mins, a goal or assist every 174 mins). Gray has also scored 5 goals in 4 Europa Conference League qualifiers so far this season...the one that got away?
His one and only good season since he left. Prior to that he had two crap seasons, and since then he's had four.
Not having that. He's one of a very few Watford players who I have seen that is capable of World Class finishing. His Van Basten- like volley v Leicester being an obvious example.
There's a clear divide though between scoring bangers in the Championship and then doing it in the Prem. Calling his finishing 'world class' is hard to back up without him actually doing it at the top level or internationally He had a couple of great seasons with us no doubt, but he's now 30 and has been released by a promotion rival.
It's about technical ability. That finish is extremely difficult whoever the opponent's are. I'm not saying Vydra was world class, by any stretch, but I can't say I've seen another Watford player have the same impact at this level since. Again, if he's close to the player we had in 14/15, and doesn't demand silly money, I think he would be a very good option for us.
Don't give Gino any ideas, it ticks too many boxes, free, injured and will have fans lapping it up because of fond memories.
I think we should sign Vyds as an additional lucky mascot. Maybe get him an otter costume and a drum. Would keep the fans onside while we sell our star players. Well, me at least.
