If he can stay fit this would be an amazing signing-that’s a massive if though..particularly with our injury records (not sure if our medical team has changed recently mind)

Actually I think it's probably likely. He's classed as home grown as he came through the Arsenal academy. He's had a ACL, and was out for a large part of last season with a torn ligament, so he's a risk in terms of injury record. But he's a good player, and if it's only us and Brum who are interested, then I think it's highly likely we'd get him. Derby have to sell, so even though they signed him for £7m, with is injury record, he's going to be half that I'd think.

For me, if we got him at around £3/4m, it's well worth the risk.

Counts as HG. Very good player for the 5 games a year he’s fit. We have an excellent injury record so it’s worth the risk.

Edit: Sounds like Derby only want a loan? Even less risk

Good player but I have no faith that his body or our medical team will be able to keep him on the pitch for more than 10 games.

We’re not that smart as a club to sign him is my point. We will be linked to players that get us as fans excited, only to sign some Belgium dross through Bayat. This is one of those moments. Most fans would love Bielik, we won’t get him. A “better option” through Mogi will become available.

With Bayat's commission, we should be able to get him for less than £9m.

I think Derby would prefer to loan him in case they get promoted this season. At least that’s what’s been reported. Loan with option/obligation to buy would be a good fit.

He’s a cracking player (when fit) that I’ve recommended many times on here. When fully fit he’s the best DM in the league and would also be an excellent RCB if we were so inclined. Fitness the big issue of course but he’s had two freak major and unconnected injuries - this isn’t a recurrent issue or a string of fitness injuries but just misfortune in my opinion.

This could Belik the best signing so far this summer.

That sounds too much for someone with his injury record. He's only managed about 11 matches of football in both his last two seasons.

The article also says Brum are after a loan deal.

We should first try for a loan deal with a small fee, that turns in to an obligation to buy for a certain fee if he manages a specific amount of games.

I've done a bit more sniffing around, and apparently Derby still owe £5m, in two further instalments. So, I would imagine it would be a loan, with us paying a loan fee and covering his wages. I can't see us paying £5m for him.

Around £20m was paid back to MSD, the American private investment company, and £5m is still outstanding to Arsenal on two transfer instalments for record signing Krystian Bielik.

It’s largely irrelevant how good he is as he simply cannot stay fit

    Unfortunate reality

Signing a player who was worth millions not that long ago but has decreased in value is exactly the kind of thing we’re constantly trying to do.

Maybe we could use Kabasele, WTE and Sema for spare parts.

Why are those on Twitter asking journo’s who have no bleeding idea what we’re doing. Yet not one of our young bucks has had the common sense to ask Andrew French. Asking Alan Nixon and co before asking Andrew is criminal.

You can see how it happens to be fair, a fully fit Bielik is almost Capoue-esque at times, a genuinely superb player

Like I said, its unfortunate but anyone still gambling on him at this stage is extremely naive

I guess what i'm trying to say is... welcome Krystian

Andrew has more respect for confidentiality of sources etc than Nixon does tbf. I asked him a question the other day and he said he doesn’t comment on rumours out of respect for the club.

As a loan I would suggest it's worth a risk. As somebody else mentioned he played the last 10 games of last season so hopefully he's over the injury issues. If he signs though I have a feeling that this post will bite me in the ar5e

    That makes no sense.

If he's available on a loan then given his quality most the Champ would be happy to take a punt on him and he'd go somewhere better than crappy Brum. The journo says that ourselves and WBA are also interested, which sounds plausible, but then it seems completely implausible he'd end up choosing Brum over WBA and us.

Given we have a fair few options in midfield who could cover for him if/when he inevitably gets injured again, I think we can afford to take the inexpensive gamble of bringing him in on the off-chance he comes good - particularly as he's HG.

Very philosophical... Would you prefer a good player that’s injured regularly, or a crap player that’s always fit.

In an ideal world, neither… But we’re all living in a Pozzo wonderland.
