That sums it up well, his attitude can be annoying at times but there's something about his passion and mercurial personality on the pitch that makes him strangely compelling for me, quite apart from his football skills, and he seems to have a good heart. I hated him after our encounter with Portugal in WC 2006, but I'm over that now.
Honestly think its been an awful tournament, cant remember many games where I thought, what a cracking game! The most enjoyable watch was probably Portugal 3-3 Hungary but that was mainly down to how poor both sides were. The really annoying thing from an England fans point of view is that this was the best chance for many years of actually doing something decent in a tournament due to the mediocrity of the so called top teams and we went out after the most woeful display I have ever seen! Anyway, looking forward to the final(even though I don't hold out much hope for a humdinger) as I am actually attending in Paris complete with my Watford FC St.Georges flag, keep any eye out!
His passion seems entirely about his "brand" though, which I despise. When they scored in the 1/4 final I think it was he ran off and celebrated by himself rather than with the goalscorer. Says it all to me.
I know what you're saying, but I get the impression that even his team mates think he is a comedy *******. He's so absurd that he's just an overgrown toddler who you can laugh along with.
I had this dream last night that Portugal were leading France 1-0 in the final, only for France, driven by their voracious home support, to get a late equaliser in similarly fortuitous fashion to the lead they "earned" on the stroke of half time against Germany, and then Portugal to collapse and concede a winner just a minute later. Portugal were then booed off the pitch by their fans at full time, I bet many France fans/neutrals would love that!
Fortuitous decision? Swinestyga punched the bloody ball. Just because Martin Keown thought it wasn't a penalty because he's a moron, doesn't mean it wasn't.
Wales have been charged by UEFA for this major breach of sercurity after their games: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.wa...uefa-over-players-11591535.amp?client=safari# Guess you can never be sure what those little tear aways could do..
He's back on. Wouldn't surprise me to see him go down seriously injured before the end of the game though. EDIT: yep, there we go. 23 minutes. Should never have let him back on the pitch.
Poor Ronaldo. All that bad karma built up from years and years of diving around and cheating coming back to haunt him in his biggest ever game.
I let my kids stay up to watch this but they ended up playing "spot the moth" and then took themselves off to bed, rather than watch the end.
Apprently they sold more tickets than they had seats, UEFA not good with the moths. Just need Luis Suarez up front for silence of the lambs.
How the hell has a team that has won just one game all tournament in 90 minutes won the whole tournament?
The Portugese team greater than the sum of its parts, unlike England which looked like a blind chef tried mixing random ingredients
Quite right. A team won, while 11 players on the other side waited in vain for a magic from one of their players. Very happy for Portugal.
