Was contact but not as much as it first appeared.

Don’t think VAR will rule it out .

I’d call myself prescient if it wasn’t completely obvious. FIFA are so predictably corrupt.

Like with England vs France, France are going to need to play twice as well as Argentina to overcome FIFAs bias.

That 2nd goal was a thing of beauty.
    No doubting that one.

This reminds me of Brazil Vs France in 98 - except France are playing the role of Brazil.

France playing like Imodium Town. At least Deschamps, made his subs before HT. Can't imagine Southgate ever doing that.

It’s not completely obvious to me. Thought it was a pen, albeit a bit soft.

Presumably you think that FIFA sent a superspreader into the French camp as well?

It's not impossible. You also only really need the air con in the hotel to play up to have an impact

    Qatar would be cooperative.

It was also a bit weird the head VAR was from the same country as the on-pitch officials (Poland). I thought in every other game they'd had the officials from separate countries; presumably to keep VAR more independent and also make it less likely there could be collusion.

    Not for me.

    Pele
    Maradona
    Cryff
Some will argue Ronaldo too. He had similar skills to Messi won the trophies already and could also head it in.

It’s difficult to compare these great players, who all have slightly different characteristics. I can just remember seeing Pele and I would add Eusebio too as well as Best, although he never got the chance at a World Cup. However, Messi at his peak was the most instinctively skilful player I’ve ever seen.

If you get gifted the first goal, more space opens for the second.

That’s what makes our response to constant France favouritism so impressive.

I said publicly that Argentina would get a soft penalty.

Messi takes penalties, and as long as he does and hasn’t won a World Cup, referees, FIFA and Qatar will do anything to oblige.

The decisions they’ve been given this World Cup are laughable, but as I say, predictable.

But at least I’ve made a decent chunk of money betting on it. Nothing more of a certainty in a World Cup in Qatar than an Argentina penalty in a tight game.

I won't include Eusebio or Best because they were around at the same time as Pele.

At least the ref has been consistent.

France got some energy off the bench and suddenly we have a game.

I agree with your sentiment but not placings.
    I would say
    Maradona
    Pele
    Cruyff.

Fair enuff. I was just of the opinion that the Brazil teams particularly the 1970 one was so good and Pele was the best player in them teams gave him the no 1 spot for me.

Close but I'd switch out Cruyff for Ramage.

I think France might need to score in ET. They've chucked on some inexperienced players on as far as the pressure of penalties is concerned.

Should have been a backpass awarded against Argentina a few moments ago when the deffender used his knees to nudge it back while he was on the ground.

Fair point but Pele always had excellent players around him.
Little Bird in '58, hardly played in '62 as kicked to pieces, Tostao, Carlos Alberto, Rivelino, Gerson in '70.
Maradona had a functional ten alongside him.
However I agree with Willis in that it's almost impossible to say, similar to the Laver,RF,Rafa,ND debates.
It's the genuflection of the media towards Lionel Blair that irritates me witless!
