"Udinese is American". Tuttosport announces sensational news, even though this has been in the air for some time, relating to the Friulian club. According to what was reported by the newspaper, the Juventus club would in fact have been sold by the Pozzo family to an American fund and the handover will take place in July, at the end of the season.

An investment of 200 million euros. According to the newspaper, this would be the disbursement of US funds, specifically 890 Fifth Avenue Partners Llc and Group Nine Acquisition Corp. The package would also include a share of Watford.

    Better sign Martins permanently then.

So, 100% sale of Udinese and partial sale of Watford ? Wonder what that will mean in terms of investment in the club itself. Too busy to look up these funds and see what other investments they hold and their general strategies. No Elton then.... :(

It does read that way, but I'd be surprised if the Pozzo's would give up total involvement in Udinese. However, with the Americans owning 10% (or whatever it will be) of Watford they still have a link to us, so all arrangements with player loans between clubs should still continue, as the new owners would still directly benefit with Watford being successful.

You say "no Elton", but I wouldn't rule it out. He's just finished his Yellow Brick Road tour, so now is available to get involved.

You can only own a minority investment in second club with the same season schedule cant you.

Sorry, I read his touring in the States has come to an end. I should have proof checked that. He's still got dates this year in Europe and Australia up to July......which nicely ties in with when the new owners are taking over!!

Elton being involved in the running of the club is a pipe-dream.

Exciting times. This, coupled with Ben Manga coming in must give some insight in where we’re going as a team. Big signings just round the corner I’m sure.

I’d agree that it looks like we are heading in the right direction…

But Manga himself said ‘cheap’ signings. So I’m not sure how many big ones will be imminent.

I'll only be happy when Pozzo sells 100% of Watford.

Careful what you wish for. We didn't even have a club before 1881.

Hard nosed financial people who want to get a return. See Glazers. In many ways the opposite of being bought by an Arab state. Not sure it's possible to get any sort of profit return from running a small club like us unless you adopt the Petchey approach and asset strip and penny pinch in League one/two. Even then it's tough these days.

Overall not keen on US owners in football, although it could work out for us for sure.

Unfortunately the best type of owners are Oligarchs who's ego is attached to the clubs success, and are willing to approach the club from less of an accountants viewpoint.

Two most succesfull owners in UK in past 20 years is Ambramovich and the City owners whoever they are.

    Are they?

Within purely the English game, maybe. But the former owner of Chelsea and the current City owners want(ed) global brands. City have only been domestically successful. I’d say Liverpool’s US owners have been more successful given their European successes. They are a far bigger brand than City when you look beyond the border.

Yes but our owner and his father are real, proper football people. No way they’d sell off their life’s work to some hedge fund that doesn’t get the beautiful game.

    https://twitter.com/Udinese_1896/status/1615312112972345344

Official statement from Udinese: "In relation to the article published this morning by Tuttosport, Udinese Calcio categorically denies what was reported and is surprised that similar news, totally without foundation, is published."

All very odd - as I think the outlet that reported it this morning have VERY close links to what happens at Udinese.

But I don’t understand the need to officially deny it and says it’s without foundation if there’s a chance of it happening.

I am hearing that the same source responsible for the Ben Whiteman rumour is also responsible for this.

Trying to catch up with all these stories, have an American consortium purchased Ben Whiteman?

You need to update your post earlier to show the Udinese badge over Shawshank's warden's suicide instead.

American ownership is not always a bad thing. Look at Arsenal. Kronkey is not at all liked by Arsenal fans' and rightly has his interests in the NFL, but he has pumped a lot of cash into their coffers. They are relying more on youth now (a bit like us) and look good this season for title as it stands. Even Liverpool fans' are beginning to lose faith in their owners now. It's been suggested one of them wants to buy a USA club , hence interest is waining. We just need a solid investment in Watford. Not Udinese. I do get that we are somewhat connected through the Pozzo network but it's been pretty obvious for years now who Gino has more interest in.

Excellent news. We didn’t want to be owned by a soulless hedge fund who’d treat the fans with utter distain whilst they moved around in the shadows. The first thing they’d probably do is ban food from being taken into the stadium.

    He's a repulsive human being.
Has his own hunting channel where morons pay big bucks to hunt and kill endangered species and generally wipe out wildlife.

    I despise him.
