You’d think, but experience says no. Food is merely installed in a cabinet where it rotates with a light on. It’s modern art possibly, but not food preparation.

I think it’s just to reassure people like my mother. She seems to think that any food defrosted over a period of less than 48 hours is more dangerous than a nuclear weapon.

30 second blasts on full does the trick and you won’t die of starvation before your leftover lasagne has thawed out.

People behaving in Teams or Zoom meetings in different ways to f2f meetings.

Most people frame themselves in the middle of the picture with some space above their heads. Two lawyers I work with regularly appear in meetings with their faces taking up the entire screen. I can count their nose hairs. You simply wouldn’t get that close in a physical meeting.

Another person I work with frequently just works or fidgets through a meeting, moving around, texting etc. Just go off flipping camera. I find I have to bring up a small window and blank just her out.

3 months for a scan? Sounds like they need to upgrade the scanners to something more modern.

It's hard enough to get them to sit still enough for a photo, let alone 3 months for a scan.

    Getting old.

Various parts of me are ceasing to work properly.
I can "Sleep funny" and ache for days, back, arm, knee, ankle, hip, can never tell which it will be.
More than 4 pints and I feel rough the next morning.
I seldom sleep through the night without having to get up for a pee.

I'm ok on the beer and very rarely wake up for a wee but I do make a Chewbaca type sound whenever I get up off a chair which I never used to

I think there is a difference between pub pints and cans at home.

I can go to the pub for 4 and have a banging head the next day, or have a session on the tinnies, necking 12 cans, and wake up completely fine at 7 am.

I find with drinking now there is only a finite window where it has any benefit to me and everything else is just going to make my life worse.

If I’m having a drink at home I’ll normally have a few of those 660ml bottles of beer, the first two I feel great but anything beyond that just makes me feel too pissed and then terrible the next day.

Basically I can get about an hour of enjoyment from drinking now and then that’s it.

I stopped for drinking for all of October, November and most of December before Xmas and it was great. It is boring though. Naturally had a few over xmas and I’ve been having some on weekends throughout January, but generally regretted it, however working from home, by the time I get to Friday evening it’s like a bit of a reward to break up the week.

Spirits for me. Used to enjoy a G &T or would even make a cocktail for myself and Mrs Keighley on a Friday evening, esp in summer. That completely wipes me out now (much to her annoyance).

I agree with A19 about the boredom of going off the sauce. Someone could make a fortune out of a genuine non-alcoholic alternative to wine which is actually interesting and pleasurable to drink.

I'm exactly the same. Not really sure why.

Partly I think it's because at home you do stuff as well, so it's not constant. In a pub you are just sat there literally drinking continually. Maybe spacing it out works.

I've also taken the humiliating step of buy in 2.8% lager these days.

    Wine? Vodka?

Once I've had a drink I don't like stopping and having that monged out, half cut feeling, so I always carry on. Sometimes I chuck a glass of water in the mix though.

I’ve tried that small beer, it’s 2.1% meant to have more taste but low in alcohol. Unfortunately it doesn’t really do the job. When I stopped drinking last year I tried pretty much all the non alcoholic beers, I found the IPA type ones best as they have a bit of flavour to them so seem more convincing. I think the Adnams Ghost Ship version was my favourite.

There are some not bad non alcoholic or low alcoholic beers (0.5%) unfortunately my brain seems to know they aren’t alcoholic and I end up chugging them down in about 2 minutes like a soft drink.

If it's got not alcohol in it, I'm not interested in having a beer. I'm half drinking it for taste and half for effect.

I'd rather have a glass of squash than a non alcoholic beer. I appreciate this makes me sound like an 8 year old.
