Its not actually true that a 1 litre car is always more efficient than a 3 litre

Efficiency isn't linear with engine speed, something called a brake specific fuel consumption curve for an engine will show how it varies considerably with load and engine rpm

So it depends what you are using the vehicle for and the speed being driven

Small capacity 4 cylinder engines BSFC tends to peak at high rpm, larger capacity 6 and 8 cylinder engines BSFC tends to peak at low rpm

So towing a caravan the 3 litre is probably more efficient... driving at 80 mph on the motorway the 3 litre is probably more efficient... pulling a trailer with 1/2 tonne of decking timber on the 3 litre is probably more efficient...

    So , a 3 litre guzzler , is more efficient than a 1 litre .
    Who knew ?

Anyway back to reality… I find it quite shocking we are creating vast fields of entombed turbine blades, tens if not hundreds of thousands of the things, which can’t be recycled, will never rot, and will be there until the sun goes supernova in eleventy billion years

Surely they should be made of something recyclable?

They can be recycled. One company grinds them up and creates house building materials. It just isn’t done much at the moment.

That’s hardly unique to wind farms. Capitalism is currently predicated on making stuff with no responsibility for its disposal. That needs to change from food packaging and toys to big stuff like this.

Frankly if they want to bury a by-product of energy production near me I’d rather it was turbine blades than nuclear waste.

I rather think they would. Plutonium has a half life of 24,000 years. That’s a lot of Mooses to get through before the balance tips against blades, which in any case, will have been recycled into house bricks by then.

Exactly. Rather than pushing electric cars, ban the cars people buy just by for ego or status.
There are genuine reasons for some big cars/engines, but most are just for status.

What % of your annual mileage is done towing a caravan? Best to rent a bigger engine car when needed and use a smaller engine car most of the time.
You are correct driving style is very significant. 80mph is illegal and wasteful, try 65mph in a smaller engine car.
Yes commercial use is a valid reason for bigger engines as greater torque is often needed.

    Chill out… I’m joking…

I wouldn't be seen dead towing a caravan in my 10 litre American pickup

How about someone liquidating the Bolsonaro creature and his supporters ? A thoroughly disgusting specimen of humanity and thick as two short planks. His land grab bill from the indigenes passed the Lower House in Brazil last week sadly. This article disseminates some of the crucial events going on in the political sphere in Brazil. The neo Hitler could even try for a military coup for all we know.

    https://www.theguardian.com/environ...-will-collapse-if-bolsonaro-remains-president

Record numbers of environmental activists and guardians have been murdered this year by unscrupulous money and power mad animals. Rabid capitalism, the material culture has to come to a stop and have a serious look at itself.

It’s the Sky zero game today, they’ve been taking a lot about sustainability and the environment which is good and should raise awareness. Good to hear Graham Souness is a fellow veggie.

Is it just me, or is it confusing why is there is an imminent crisis in the UK due to a shortage of CO2 when the rest of the world is burning up due to too much of the stuff floating about in the air?

Surely Boris at this Cop out 26 jolly could negotiate to import some excess French CO2 to make up for the Aussie sub contract?
