We should work to the rule that any player willing to sign for us at any time should be avoided. It’s a flawless strategy with no obvious pitfalls.
A cash deal and a swap may suit them them they will get a transfer fee and an adequate replacement that will probably be cheaper for them
Has the potential to be the 3rd best Swiss player to pull on the yellow shirt and knock Ramon Vega off the podium.
People on twitter saying the latest ‘Transfer’ article on The Athletic says our interest is genuine and he would cost £9m.
Seems a fair price for him. Though would he want to join us permanently in our current situation? I can't imagine him wanting to stick around for the Championship either.
I think that’s the issue. My guess is that it could be sorted with a decent wage and bonus for staying up. Depends on his options you’d think. Saying that, the latest from Milan, (on Twitter anyway) is that we have offered a loan and they want to sell outright. Either way, today’s team makes it seem obvious that Pearson doesn’t rate Masina much.
Seems a fair price, especially when you take into consideration that we tried to sign Rose for 14 million in the summer and Pearson has played a right back who is now injured at left back in more recent games.
Luckily that didn't happen. Didn't realise it was that high of a figure for an average at best left back. Rodriguez has been a very consistent performer over the years. Always a good tidy player for the national team. As others have said puts in a decent ball from set pieces that we really lack at the moment. Kiko is going to be a big loss because he's been absolutely fantastic at left back. He's made me eat my words and hope he can reproduce the same performances at his normal right back position if we pick up Rodriguez.
Who? Where is that reported? The only clubs I see linked are PSV and Fenerbahce who we should really consider ourselves ahead of - and Napoli who seem to only want to loan him and even then that’s on the condition that they sell their LB first for big money which doesn’t seem guaranteed.
Wow, aggressive... It's reported in the exact same places that claim we're interested. I'd consider all of those clubs to be bigger than us.
Aggressive? How? I simply asked where you’d seen it! PSV and Fenerbahce may be bigger. But they play in inferior leagues, and have inferior squads to ours in my opinion. I doubt PSV could match what we could pay either.
Unlikely to happen. Wants to go to PSV apparently. https://sempremilan.com/gds-milan-d...tion-psv-move-despite-watford-napoli-interest
That isn't quite what the article implies. The level of reading comprehension on here is certainly sub-par at times. The article just says that PSV have "entered the race" to sign him and would be "a welcome destination for him", but it does not mean, or state, that it would be his preferred destination out of the options. It seems clear that he will leave Milan this window, and it's probably now about his agent pitting the interested clubs against each other to try and get the biggest contract for their client from whichever.
So what you're saying is the player would sanction a move to PSV, whilst not saying the same about Napoli's and our interest. Do you know what 'sanction' means?
Let's hope playing in the PL (plus a big old salary) is more important to him than Europa/Champions League next season!
It simply does not say either way whether he would or wouldn't happily 'sanction' a move to those clubs as well. The article could have appeared this way for a number of reasons, e.g. maybe the player was asked by a reporter only about PSV's interest, or maybe as of yet only PSV have made an offer and they're trying to hurry other clubs in to firming up their interest. It could also be a negotiating ploy in that, for example, perhaps just PSV and ourselves have made bids, and were we of the belief that we were his preferred destination we could be trying to slightly low-ball him on his wage offer or not offer him the guaranteed playing time which the article state he wants - therefore, his agent may have released an article worded in this way to imply that if we, or perhaps Napoli, don't increase our contract offer, or add further guarantees of playing time, then they could still risk losing out on him to PSV.
Now who's pant wetting? Player says he'd be interested in PSV 'despite interest from Napoli and Watford' - doesn't say I'm open to all offers yet you read it as that.
?? As I said, that could simply mean that he'll happily join PSV if Napoli or Watford don't either: firm up their interest, up their current contract offers, and/or guarantee playing time. Simple negotiating ploy.
If he wants to play in Holland rather than test himself in the PL then he’s not up to much. But I don’t think the article says anything more than he is keeping his options open and wants first team football.
Sure. But whichever the reason, it's not necessarily saying that ultimately PSV would be his no.1 choice out of all the possibilities.
