100%. The word I think I used to describe Norwich a few weeks ago was 'naive'.

They play some great football, just don't think they're 'street wise' enough to stay up unless their dynamic/culture next season, which you can't imagine they will. They're good to watch though.

Last night’s game, while a great advert for the Championship summed up the paradox when it comes to a club our size playing in the Premier League or Championship.

When you watch a game like last night’s, with the quality and end-to-end action in abundance, it makes you wonder why the hell you’d prefer the Championship when the games up there are so much better than most of the ones we’ve been involved in this season.

But on the other hand, it can’t be denied there are a fair few stinkers in the supposed “best league in the world”, worst ones one of the top of my head being the home game against Bournemouth in 2015/16 (a real damp squib considering those were the two best attacking sides the previous season), WBA away the same season despite the win, Stoke away under Mazzarri, even in 2018/19 Burnley at home - scrappy, sterile games of low quality short in good goal scoring chances. And then there were the disappointments of uninspiring ends to the season leading to bottom half finishes after promising starts. Perhaps it was a case of the novelty already wearing off after the Palace FA Cup semi final? What could make it more enjoyable next time round, assuming we go up and stay up?

Just as an update, he's been discussing all possible promotion permutations with Mrs TuT this morning and is gutted to have missed Luther visit the Hospice a couple of weeks ago. He's clearly planning on defying doctors prognosis and waiting until promotion is 100% nailed on. .

Yes. In some ways I felt he played a bit as Gray is supposed to play - getting into scoring positions fast; only he did it better! Of course, there are differences, not least because he is really a midfielder. But it's an astute bit of tactics between him and Munoz to create an attacking midfield player. He is an experienced player and certainly seems to find the weak, undefended areas of the oppo defence.
Like a lot of the Watford squad he is, I think, not quite an out-and-out Premier League player, however.

I felt very confident last night when the team was announced.

The key for me was our midfield, and they didn’t disappoint.

For all our transfer deficiencies of recent months, and the angst from many when the likes of Capoue and Doucoure left, I feel we are quite blessed as a *Championship club to have been able to field a trio with so much experience as we did last night in Cleverley, Hughes and Gosling.

Hundreds of games worth of nous and expertise.

    * for 4 more days :)

Yes they will. A few of us on here all know that Norwich are not the best team in the league, we are. Had there been this cohesion between our players at the start of the season, and Masina not out for months, we would have won the league probably 5 games ago.

Farke in hell...reactions to the Watford defeat.

For his sake, I hope in his next renegotiated Norwich contract he persuades Delia to pay him by the speed of his answers delivered in interviews rather than where the Canaries finish in the Premier League. He certainly has a talent for gabbling in English, East of England champion class!

I liked the commentary though (although I only listened around the time of our goal) - reminded me of that for the Rotherham away game, obviously from the oppo fans’ perspective but honest, fair-minded and balanced.

And if that was a poor performance from their team I can see why so many teams have struggled to deal with them! They’re a team that seem to make virtually no mistakes in possession, so the only way to get the ball off them is to stay close, press and tackle which we did brilliantly.

He was a pretty decent goalscorer. I think he played against us for Chelsea when John Barnes made his first start for us at Stamford Bridge.

It was a tremendous battle, we had a lot of success pressing them, but they managed to play through the press well at times too, although they never really troubled us

Mayes left us for Swindon in ‘79. They were one of the teams vying with us for promotion that season, but missed out. It was a sign of how how far Chelsea had fallen when he signed for them late in 1980. He was decent at lower league level but I think his spell at Chelsea was the only time he played in Div 2.

    I feel somewhat the opposite.

In the Championship, while we've had some pretty grim matches on bad pitches, we've also had to play real football in order to get wins - which is what you need to get promoted.

But most newly promoted teams are all about survival, which means they revert to defensive, cautious football with the aim of nicking wins or earning draws. And it inevitably means it's a lot less pleasant to watch. Norwich didn't do that last year, and look what happened. Or Fulham a few years ago when they wanted to play attractive football and got steamrolled.

Will be interesting to see how Norwich handle next year, and if we go up, if our defence can remain solid against better competition and where we find goals.

Good player for us - played really well at west ham in the cup when we were div 4 and they were div 1 (prem as is). We played them off the park but lost 1-0 at upton park to a late bryan robson goal

I wasn't going to criticise but they said they beat the lot. They didn't beat us or get a point off us. If we avoid defeat at Swansea we will have been unbeaten against everyone.
