Nonsense. He can control a ball for starters, is technically quite good, has contributed a few goals and works hard for the team, to name a just few.

    And he's not a c*nt.

    No comparison.

If Pedro keeps playing like he is, when Sarr returns King's place in the team might come under threat. At least the competition should keep him on his toes.

Yes his finishing is pretty poor (or has been lately), but every other aspect of his game is infinitely better than Andre Gray’s.

Think back to Andre "Touch of brick wall" Gray's performances, and after you've puked, you'll realise King isn't THAT bad mate.

The thing with King is that he is a player who is capable of playing as a striker in the Premier League in 2022 -that's it. We have been so starved of anything approaching competence with our previous neverending chuckle brothers saga up top that it was like manna from heaven when he came in and showed us what it was like to have a player in that position who actually did what they were supposed (and required) to do. But he's not a good striker, or, indeed, goalscorer, at Premier League level.

That's not designed to hammer him - his competence is, again, in itself both extremely refreshing and useful to our ability to play. But he's basically a decent player to have there, and he has certain attributes that we can look to, like his ability to hold up the ball and interchange with our other forwards, and that's broadly as much as we can expect.

He's not a long term answer, but he's also absolutely nothing like Andre Gray. Don't forget that Andre used to get props in certain (rare) corners for being good with his movement, but shyte at everything else. Now think about how much better, and more intelligent, and mobile, King's movement is just than Andre's... Really makes you think how abysmally, disgustingly, shockingly, unprofessionally, recruitment-unendingly-failingly pathetic and criminal it was for us to be chuntering along with that set of forwards for such a very long time.

Said this many a time, it’s not so much King is great or anything, it’s just our prior options were just so shockingly poor and way below the minimum standard of a PL striker. He’s come in and brought us up to the minimum standard in that position.

I like him. He’s decent enough and contributes to the team - to suggest he’s anything like Gray is just ridiculous.

But, King needs to score more. There’s no escaping it and he could do with someone in the squad who will give him a fight for the shirt. Nketiah or similar…

Take the anomaly of a hat-trick away (I say ‘anomaly’ because only a few are scored by any players every season) and he’s scored 2 goals in 16 games. That’s not a good strike-rate. Once Sarr comes back, King would look like the player to be dropped at present with Joao Pedro and Dennis keeping their places.

King is terrific for us, but he falls into the Deeney category of striker, and by that I mean he gives a lot to the team in terms of holdup play, linking in teammates and his work rate is exceptional. I really like him, but he does fall short on finishing. The shot he took in the first half at Newcastle was very strange (you'd have only seen it had you watched the entire game as it didn't make any of the highlights), but it wasn't a position I'd expect a striker to shoot from. He showed great composure for the hattrick at Everton, so he does have it, but too often he snatches or takes the shot a bit too early and misses the target. He's better than Deeney though, certainly the Deeney we had in the final few seasons at Watford, and he's miles better than Gray of course.

Hopefully he'll go on a scoring run soon, as I do believe he has the ability to do it.

Lol who compared him with Gray?
He has control, pace and fight. It's dried up infront of goal but imo his general all round play is a massive positive. I have no doubt he will be in double figures at the end of the season. Agreed it would be excellent with Nketiah who is totally different type of striker to what we currently have. The waste of time Fletcher is never going to push any of the forwards out of the starting 11.

I do get the Deeney link, but I think the difference to later years Deeney is that King is getting in to scoring positions but missing them. Later years Deeney wasn’t even getting into scoring positions. There are some similarities in everything else other than the fact King has decent pace which Deeney never really had and then what he had disappeared completely towards the end.

King has been underwhelming overall. Not sure what his role is in the team so might be Ranieri's fault.

Not seen much of that of late, seen him out wide a fair bit. 'Getting into scoring positions and not scoring them', similar to Gray of recent times then lol

I don't blame King, he played on the right, on the left and centrally last night. Ranieri can't seem to decide where to put him. Of course there are benefits to having a front three that rotate, maybe if the three rotating are Mane, Salah and Jota. With us it all starts to get disjointed very quickly when Ranieri starts shuffling them around.

Yes, King as a CF and be told to stay there for example. Too much front 3 roaming around if you ask me.

Gets little service and often isolated. Clearly he’s lost heart. There was a point last night in the real grim phase of the second half where he lost the ball and for once we quickly won it back in midfield and Pedro (?) was running towards the Norwich box. King was stood offside, knew he was offside and literally made no effort to get back on. Pedro knew not to pass to him so went off down another blind alley instead.

I think being in a relegation team don't help either. Basically nearly all the players have been underwhelming, that is why we are where we are.

If we accept that Sissoko isn't a goalscorer, then he is probably the only player we've had performing ok so far.

Well he is a midfielder tbf.

Could shoot better but cannot be expected to get goals .

That is down to the strikers .

How many goals have we got from the midfield this season? How many haven't come from our forwards for that matter? While they were on a hot streak, we were OK, but now that they're struggling or injured, we're ****ed without goals from elsewhere

Yes but you wouldn't describe him as a goal scorer like some of the top attacking midfielders.

He was a bit 'powder puff' again yesterday i thought. Against teams around us in the basement games i was hoping for him to have had more impact and score a few. Hasn't scored in open play now since the Man U game in November.
