This Watford team is so inconsistent. Sarr epitomises them. As people have said, it was comfortable in the end, but for the first 30 minutes we had no control of the game despite having much the better players. Huddersfield had the bulk of possession and a better team could have been two goals up by then.

Are we not noticing a theme? Pretty much everyone in this division is beatable, our best beats every team, our average beats most.

Tinpot division, if being bang average for 30 mins out of 90 equals a 2-0 victory nobody needs to be worry.

Not sure I would read too much into Huddersfield. Seem the worst the division has to offer.

    Yes definitely true.

Blackburn lost to Preston 4-1 at home last week.

Then go to Norwich and win whilst PNE are beaten by QPR at home.]

    Sums the league up.

We scored which is a nice change.

A welcome three points against one of the worst teams we'll play. But you can only beat the team you're up against.

They didn't dominate any of it. Could argue they shaded the first half but even then we had a penalty turned down and missed the best chance.

Second half we were totally in control.

Pretty sure the Sky commentator said just before HT that Huddersfield had had about 65% of the ball by that point. So their manager is right in that sense. Meaningless though if you keep running down blind alleys and not challenging Bachmann.

That trip in the first half seemed definitely a pen. Anywhere else on the pitch and the ref gives that. He even had the whistle to his lips until he realised it was in the box.

Got to give it to our fans - singing "this is the best trip, I've ever been on" on about 35 minutes was pretty funny after the dire 35 minutes that preceded the chant.

I think maybe we were either watching a different game or they were on some of the funny white stuff as I was very much not thinking standing in freezing cold weather watching that load of rubbish was definitely not the best trip I've been on.

That or they need to go on some better trips!

Reminds me when I went to Villa Park during our GT PL season. We got slapped 4-0 but it was so frickin' cold we starting singing "4-0 down and we out sing you!!" It was true though, the amount of noise made by the home fans' considering the scoreline was unreal.

I thought they were better than us in the first but didn’t really threaten. One clear penalty shout each too.

Yeah, it looked more of a foul than Bacuna's joke of a yellow card.

I get those songs though. It's funny if you are 4-0 Down and are still outsinging the opposition.

I vaguely remember in 1995 or 1996 when we had already been relegated to the third tier singing to a team something like "we're ****, and you still can't win..." Or something to that effect.

But 0-0 After a soul destroying 35 minutes of quite frankly godawful football in the freezing cold. No, this is not the best trip. It's not a good trip. It's barely an ok trip.

Bah humbug. We won and I'm still moaning. Ha.

    Best trip I've been on.

Third replay on the Davis penalty incident shows Davis initiated the contact by grabbing a full fist of the defender's shirt and pulling it all the way into the box. Was clever play by Davis but a good spot by the ref, who I thought had a fairly good game.

Think no pen against us was the right call for the handball also, due to the close range and natural arm position. Was also refreshing to see a couple of early YCs given for clear YC offences. Championship refs tend to let those go. Hogg's clothesline on JP was an obvious 'let him know you're there, he don't waaant it' early challenge. That worked out well.

I never queue for anything at halftime normally but fancied a cup of tea. Gave up as there were still plenty in front of me as the players came back out.

Of course they took their time. They had to wait an age for their half time cup of tea.

Desperately need a new striker, or just find a way to play João there.

Davis is as much of a waste of space as Bayo and Manaj

Anyone who attended in person. Did they sell off the pies for less than half price at the end of the game? Not shown on sky highlights.

He didn’t exactly get up appealing in a rage either tbf .

Probably a bit lucky to get away with the handball up the other end too .

I'm sorry but you seem clearly bias towards the ref here because from 103 yards away under dull floodlights through some light drizzle that was blatantly a penalty.

Huddersfield providing a valuable warning as to how quickly a promotion-chasing Championship team can suddenly look distinctively League One.

Huddersfield will struggle to get off the bottom - they were hopeless.

We were poor first half especially in the middle but improved second half. Dele Bashiru was much better in the second half and his run for the first goal was excellent. People were getting frustrated in the first half at Kabasele's distribution - missing the fact that nobody in midfield was showing for it so his only option was to lump it up to Davies who was largely static again for most of the game.

    Kamara was crap again.
    Sarr was in and out.
Cathcart and Kabasele were solid again.
Pedro is an unbelievable talent...but beyond him we have very little in an attacking sense.

We really are playing at a poor level at the moment, the only difference between the teams was Joao Pedro. I dread to think what we're going to look like when he leaves.

    1,500 travelled ?

Very good numbers considering the conditions and train strikes .

Did look like most of our chances came on the break or from set plays rather than cutting through a defence as such which is our main issue.

They fortunately didn’t appear to even have a shot near our goal till injury time.

First 30 minutes was a little frustrating to watch and then we realised that we were supposed to be playing a football game, after half n hour it was fairly straightforward and I always felt like we would break them down eventually. Overall it was a poor performance but luckily Huddersfield are extremely limited. The squads patched up at the moment with all of the injuries so performance doesn't really matter its all about putting points on the board and getting to January, overall job done and on to the next!

Just watched the highlights, from the other end I thought Davis’s first half effort was a lot closer, clearly not.

Not sure which shot you are on about but there was one occasion when he beat his man and then smashed it so far wide that even my missus who knows sweet FA about football burst out laughing at the shot.

I think Davis is leagues above Manaj and can finish better than Bayo. Out of the three I would rather Davis have a good chance on goal. However, I am not defending his recent performances which have been very much below par. Not sure why that is, as he was pretty good before the WC break. Maybe Bayo has had a quiet word in his ear about wanting to lead the line in some games? Davis is playing a bit like Deeney did in his twilight years, but I am willing to give him a chance to get back to a level we know he can play. Manaj cannot finish from two yards and Bayo does have good movement but is too Andre' Gray for me. If he continues to play crap, then yes, but it also proves how badly we need a striker.

I think that was the one, the step over to get past his man then the appalling shot.
