Today a woman behind the rookery end goal caught one flush on the kisser during the warm up . Daniel was straight into the stand comforting her until the ST John Ambulance crew finished smoko and attended to her . Well done Dan !.
To be fair to him he did the same at Rotherham - you've just remindeded me. One of the ball girls got hit by a shot and he took her over to the dugouts and stayed with her till one of our medical team came over. Then also gave her his warm-up top after she was ok. Say what you like about his personality on the pitch, but off it he does seem like a genuinely nice person
So let me get this straight, on at least two separate occasion's, Bachmann has had to comfort our own fans who’ve been smacked in the face by a ball hit by one of our forwards…. Shows how great our shooting is!
You should have a watch of the warm ups - some of the misses are genuinely more impressive than Asprilla's goals this season
Oh he did, he’s just really crap, so he’s got lots more misses to get out of the way. Might need to start warming up a couple of hours earlier.
That goal was 80% on Bachmann. Andrews had it covered. If it looked like he was getting in behind then I'd agree with Bachmann decision but although Andrews made cardinal sin of heading back on targer under pressure, Bachmann made the situation happen to begin with by needless rushing as he had earlier with Porteous.
He's worse than ever. Clearly trying too hard last night or they've been working on him coming off his line and he's just hopeless at it. I will never get over the fact that he just can't kick a football properly, he's got the kicking action of an injured goat.
He was ludicrously positioned. He surely can’t have thought he was getting there first, so why go at all?
I actually thought he looked ok other than one mega blunder. He barked at Hoedt and Porteous pretty early on to get up and not look to play out from the back which showed some authority. I get he isn't popular and people don't need a second invitation to jump on his back but generally he was ok. Our issues are up the other end. Bayo looks lost, Dennis is a waste of time & Asprilla's decision making stinks. Sort those bits out and Bachmann/Hamer aren't even in the conversation.
It's very easy to say that, but ultimately the final bit is the most difficult part of football, Asprilla's and Dennis's output this season is fine so far, if they had better end product they wouldn't be here, but Bachmann has cost us goals in all sorts of ways this season, it really is undermining what he is genuinely good at
Reality is Bachman is a good shot stopper but woeful at everything else. Everyone who went last night expected a howler and it came. the defence look terrible with him in goal. Confidence just goes. on the goal last night if Andrews had left it what was Bachman planning on doing. What made him think it was a good idea to go out there - he was never dealing with it. Show me a worse keeper in Championship. I thought te Swansea keeper looked great on ball at back - Bachman cannot dream of doing that
I find it slightly amazing that there are efforts at this point to rehabilitate Bachmann's image, I know a few were oddly steadfast for a very long time in their defence of him, but I presumed by this point we had thankfully reached a conclusion after his many comedy mistakes, tantrums/head-losses, and the immediate difference evident when he was replaced by a player of the relatively average gifts of Ben Hamer. I'm genuinely quite surprised that we're already back at this place - Bachmann has shown us exactly what he is over a period of multiple seasons, now. And yet, on the Hornet's Nest thread it's being suggested that he has a higher ceiling than Hamer! He's a disastrous calamity with an awful mentality who turns 30 in a few months. I cannot wrap my head around it, personally.
Quite fitting that Ismael's fate has potentially been sealed by the bloke he made club captain at the start of the season.
It was obvious he was crap from about 15 minutes into whichever game was his debut. Maybe it was Tranmere in the cup? Or perhaps some other cloggers from the lower leagues in a League Cup game. Either way, it was clear he was useless. That he managed to give us a run of relatively decent performances is as much of a surprise as Pozzo failing to capitalize on that unexpected bonus when we could have got some money for him, and then compounding the mistake by giving him a long contract.
Do remember him dropping the ball for one goal I think ? Mind you a bad debut doesn’t always mean they turn out to be rubbish . A rather well know and very successful WFC keeper let in 5 in his first appearance against another Merseyside club !
This - the team will never challenge for promotion whilst the keeper is so poor, been saying it for years. Hopefully the next 6 month wonder will be someone who insists on an upgrade between the sticks.
You're absolutely right. I fear, however, that all evidence suggests there is no such thing as insisting at this point - they get whatever measly shyte they are given, and are then expected to twerk for it in the local papers in response. A real one-two combo for the ages.
Had a lot to do, didn't think any of his saves were wonder saves by any stretch, but I think he did well not to palm any of their efforts back into danger
