I like Bergen nice place especially on one of the rare days it's not raining .the view from the top of one of the mountains on a clear day is incredible.

The Athletic reported 15%, fairly sure that we’ll miss out on a lot of add ons though if he leaves this soon
The fee reported they want is lower than what we sold him for (and is close to what they still owe for him as per the bank loan) so not sure what they gain even if true. So no sell-on fee. I’d also counter it’s hard to shift players in January - even harder when they are embroiled in a tournament and can’t play.
You don’t miss out on add-on’s. You get a percentage against the contact still to run. Otherwise we could (theoretically) sign Harry Kane for £1 but offer to pay Bayern £4,000,000,000,000 if we win the Premier League. But the sell him in the summer before ever had the chance to do so. Add-ons are protected within the contract and aren’t literal or forgotten.
Bring him home. I’m sure like Dennis he realizes how much he loved Watford after being away and would love nothing more than to wear our glorious Kelme kits again.
How does that work? Let’s say I buy player for £10m plus £2m if I qualify for champions league by end of contract. He isn’t much of a hit and plays 20 games over 3 years and I sell him at a loss and we are miles off top 4. Surely I would not have to calculate the probability of qualifying for champions league in final 2 years? Or does it carry over even though he has left my squad? My paying 40% of a conditional number also seems unfair. In your theoretical example Bayern would reject it out of hand, for cash flow and risk reasons surely.
Something is up. I hear Pedro is out of the BHA squad this weekend. It’s happening. We’re getting the band back together again !!
Fabrizio Romano Understand Villarreal have opened talks with Olympique Marseille for Ismaila Sarr, initial proposal already on the table. Negotiations ongoing for loan deal with buy option. Sarr has already given his potential green light to the move.
I’d agree that seems odd to me, you’d assume any add on clauses would instead have to worked into the new contract at the new club, so they’re on the hook for them instead. What is the point of an add on clause if you don’t get the benefit of what the add on was meant to pay out on, yet still potentially have to pay out on it. Or it becomes kind of like buying a put and a call option, and you insist that the buying club have to pay you out if they qualify for the add on, so that you can then in turn pay the original selling club.
I have a French chap in my team at work, and have met up with him this week. He supports Marseille, and I asked him about Sarr. It wasn't a long discussion, but the jist of it was (with a French accent), 'he is f****** *h**, terrible player'.
Part of it is his own fault. He should have forced a move like the others after our first relegation. Maybe it was a confidence thing or he was too loyal, but Liverpool would have probably taken him had he forced things.
Shows a bit about the difference between him and Dennis, when I saw this I thought "oh no he's not ******* coming back is he?". Useless lightweight winger who couldn't live up to the hype.
I think that's the kicker. If it wasn't AFCON where injuries, fatigue and unavailability will disrupt any integration and immediate player availability which is normally the driving forces in a mid-year transfer. Only time a club would waive that if the player was a long term target.
Sarr ruined Sarr, by choosing to sulk and only turn on occasionally what he was truly capable of, instead, he gave far too many halfassed. couldn't care less performances. If he'd played to his capabilities in every game he'd have been snapped up by a bigger club.
This article now suggesting they want shot of him: https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-considered-complete-flop-summer-watford-exit-return-england-cards/ No actual sources on record quoted of course but the article ends by suggesting a move back to the Championship might be the best he can hope for.
Though the article doesn't mention a move back here, it would be peak Gino to do a deal like that with Macquarie and Marseille and bring him back.
