Umbrellas are designed to keep you dry and are for use during inclement weather. Why are managers prohibited from using them?

During that Plymouth match monsoon, I felt quite sorry for that Danny Dewdrop or Sammy Snipcóck or whatever his name was. Their temporary manager. He was a grey-haired old man. It can't do him any good at all to stand around dripping wet for an hour and a half. You wouldn't do it to a dog. Someone's going to catch their death one of these days.

Why would anyone in their right minds object if he'd got a brolly out? What would the objection be? I don't understand it.

It was 2008 -16 years ago- that McLaren used an umbrella and the England sun readers got miffed because they lost the match and the umbrella was a good thing to complain about. Since then, not one manager in the UK I'm aware of, has had the cojones to sensibly shelter from the rain.

It's time for a valiant brave pioneer to take the first step. Go on someone!

Remember at Watford the two teams' benches were just that, benches out to face the wrath of the elements, GT said that until the fans are under cover then the benches would remain.

It’s surely the managerial equivalent of short sleeves and gloves.

Fans have been under cover for decades. Time for thr poor old managers to get a nice dry shelter. Maybe with a small brazier.

Umbrellas are for poofs. It’s a man’s game after all. It's important to show that you can stand in the rain, getting wet and cold, without appearing to even notice it's raining.

I can just imagine a manager standing there on the touchline with his brolly when it's persisting down with rain and when a dirty great south westerly is kicking up a storm . I can see with my mind's eye
a brolly that has been turned inside out blowing across the pitch taking out any player who tries to intercept it .
There is probably a reason why umbrellas are not allowed .

This is where funky umbrella hats come in. A bargain at £29.99 Moose branded umbrella hats keep you dry in wet weather, won’t turn inside out in a strong wind and are (allegedly) like catnip for ladies.

The ladies won't see you if you're wearing a combat camouflage umbrella hat like that. Invisible.

Handy that it's camouflaged too, so you barely even notice it.

    I'll take two please

If we’re going for umbrella hats then surely it has to be the ones with a propeller on.

If managers sat the **** down in the dugout like they're meant to, rather than parading up and down in the technical area wildly jesticulating any decision that doesn't favour their team, serving up verbal abuse to the 4th official it wouldn't be an issue.

    ****s the lot of em.

Sorry I've had a bad week.

What's the consensus on managers using a parasol for shade on sunny days?

No. Should use a hanky with the corners knotted to hold in place.
