In the last 12 hours I've had the Walace situation described to me as 'dynamic', 'chaotic' and 'a little troubling'. He was due to land in the UK earlier today but the flight was delayed based on intel that Rob Edwards was planning to ambush Walace at Luton Airport to scupper the deal. We face competition from 2 clubs, understood to be Zenit and Charleroi. Vladimir Putin has been negotiating for Zenit and has made a series of alarming nuclear threats to Duxbury behind close doors, but we remain undeterred. Walace's demands about having a say in the level of secrecy of the 'secret new number 9' have further complicated things. Walace would prefer their identity to remain secret for the entire season, playing in a mask or disguise, Watford would prefer their identity to be revealed upon completing the signing but are said to be 'flexible' on the matter. Make of that what you will.
the eagle series is an excellent read, the first novels are excellent. they have become a bit samey over the years, but I still pick up the latest one every Christmas. the story follows Roman soldiers macro and Cato at the time of the invasion of Britannia and beyond.
I understand that Edwards doesn't actually want him, but he hopes that showing him around L*ton will make him see Putin's Russia in a more positive light
Yes he's another writer I like. Trouble is after reading 4 of the Roman era books I found they got really "samey"... There were a few decent books in a series on ghengis kahn but can't remember who wrote them...
I initially thought this was building up to a 'cracking cheese, Gromit' gag, but it never really delivered. 4/10.
Thanks. Yes he's another of my favourite writers. He wrote a good trilogy of books on War of the Roses. I found it fascinating as it was fictional but based around the factual persons and events..
Defensive midfielder thread ebbs and flows about favourite books, while a mention of club finances when talking about buying a different player has the mods scrambling around deleting posts for being off topic. Go figure.
In fairness the book discussion is happing in one thread. The finance discussion happens in every single bar one thread. We get it, we’re skint.
Whatever happened to " We sign who we want,we sign who we want, from Udinese. We sign who we want"? Is it now a case of " We sign very few,we sign very few, from Ashen faced Ron Knee. We sign very few"?
Are you sure you dont want one of the afflicted to tell you we are skint again, you know just in case you didnt get it after the 100th time of reading it?
What was the info you were given? Surely this was never on in any way, given how prominent he is at Udinese?
His name constantly puts me in mind of the opening sequence to the game 'Castlevania 64', specifically the line '...in the province of Wallachia'. Pure nostalgia for me and maybe 7 others.
He's local. From Chorleywood. His daughter taught my kids gymnastics. He also did a couple of fantasy books which are worth a read if you're into that genre.
Also, recommend the Kingmaker Trilogy by Toby Clements. Tells a great story of the Wars of the Roses, but from a common person perspective.
Not saying this is what has happened in this instance, but I get the impression the club are putting more effort into finding leaks than actually signing players this summer. I've had incredibly reliable people feed me some absolute **** through out this window.
