Those first couple of home games will be important to determine the mood of the camp imho.

Win and the players might start believing in themselves and Ismael's philosophy. Lose or draw and doubts will set in early, both on and off the pitch.

I hoping for top half with a whiff of play offs to keep things interesting. However, what I have hoped for and what WFC have delivered has rarely aligned in the last few years though!

I'm expecting between 11th - 8th but think we're a decent bet for Play-Offs. The Championship overall quality is not massive beyond a few teams at either end and it's much more about attitude and collective belief than individual brilliance over the Season.

Still think we have too many nice guy/collect the pay cheque players and not enough win-at-all-costs bastards to build the necessary team spirit. We look particularly weak in the middle of the pitch and if we don't strengthen there then I'd expect similar performances to last season but with fewer bits of individual quality to get us out of jail during games.

I'm also looking forward hopefully to not having Sarr strolling around the pitch.

Our squad is awful. We never keep players fit ever. Take out 5 players with “return date unknown” and look at some of the dross that will be starting week in, week out.

Any hope for playoffs is fanciful in my view. And the manager will carry the can and be sacked before Xmas.

Disappointment is so disappointing. If you expect the worst at best then you'll either be proved right or mildly surprised.

Meister's top tip: More of the same turgid crap. Mid table mediocrity.

As per most others, fully expect a season of monotony and frustration with a mid table finish. Never really flirting with play offs and always being safe enough from relegation zone

One thing that has suprised me is at the time of writing we only have two utterly deranged forum members, I always thought it was far higher than that.

Maybe not deranged, just perhaps set their expectations on what this squad can achieve a bit too high. Either that or we are being Whooshed twice.

Skybet has us at 7th faves for the title, along with Stoke, WBA and Sunderland?!

My expectations are a team that will fight for every ball, battle, scrap, work their arses off for everything.

What I think will happen is we will continue to meekly roll over, be pushed to one side, and will most likely fight against relegation. The squad is just not good enough and the mentality is not there.

    12th-16th.

I'm looking at how we did WITH Pedro last season and we are in no way stronger than that now.

And the league now has three relatively strong teams down from the Prem. compared to some seasons.

As it stands we're in trouble.

Of these options, 12-16th. I'm going straight down the middle and say 14th, and that's me being optimistic. If we don't sufficiently replace Pedro and Sarr then that's me being almost delusional...

With the lack of transfer activity or even credible links, it seems to me we're solely dependant on what other clubs are going to do. We've probably put feelers on a number of players, but because we're not making big offers, I suspect clubs will leave it until the last minute before deciding to sell/loan players to us.

I believe we're probably going to play our first 4 matches largely with what we have right now. The squad we have is the squad that will kick off against QPR, and will play the following games at home to Plymouth, Stoke away, Blackburn at home before we'll be able to make our moves on players. So, we could burn through the first 4 matches picking up few points. Coventry away is on 2nd September, so it's unlikely any new signings would heavily feature in that fixture either.

It's not until our match on 16th September, when we play Birmingham at home, will we have our squad in place. That's match number 6.

If we start slowly, which is highly likely now (imo), players we had lined up could be thinking "I'm not going there, look how bad they are". It's a Catch22.

I'm disappointed we didn't have a few gems lined up through Manga/Costa. Even if we bring in three quickly from Udinese on loan, why aren't they here now? What's the benefit in leaving it so late. We need the players here now and getting used to Ismael, as by the sounds of it, it's a very high level of intensity and players really need to go through a training programme to get to that level, as it's above the norm.

So few friendlies too. Why is that? How are the players going to work through issues, when they face hardly any opponents to test them. There are bound to be flaws with the system and friendlies will expose these. Are we seriously going to play our first league fixtures and use these games to test us when they actually count? Yes, it appears we are.

Expectations right now just cannot be high. To finish above the bottom 6, with what we have right now would be a big achievement.

Going an entire season without sacking our manager would be a huge success in my eyes, even if we finish 15th.

There is more chance of us winning the Championship than going a full season with one head coach. Gino is sharpening his axe as we speak no doubt.

Off the pitch; a major sponsorship deal. Naming rights for the ground would seem the most obvious way to bring in money. One major player sale in January.

On the pitch; a mix-match of playing styles with both frustrating and surprising results leading to a similar league position as just gone. One or two academy players to catch the eye without ever really holding down a regular spot. An apparent 'dud' coming good.

    Oooo, that's bitchy, but expected.
You know my views and so far the club have nothing to change them.
Ismael out by the October International break or Christmas if he is lucky.
Low, lower half finish, but relegation wouldn't surprise me.
No new signings of any note to be made as we are broke. Our summer transfer budget has been banded about, but let's not go there.

Hey, what happened to Okoye? Ah, l was right.

Wasn't mentioned to be bitchy, just I know you think every season we will get relegated.
The thing is with Okoye is you said his previous teams fans thought he was rubbish but actually he'd just had an excellent season. It was strange signing considering what needed at the time but he's still very young for a keeper and hopefully for him he will improve

Yes, he is young but l don't think he will overcome his weaknesses in order to play in the English leagues.
It was a very odd signing, especially at £5m including extras . He was on offer for 80% less within the year before we signed him. It was a lot of money for a keeper who is more suited to be in Holiday on Ice when the ball is at his feet. For a big guy, he also flaps at crosses. A host of our former managers didn't seem to rate him.
You never know he may come good. He is young for a keeper as you said.
Perhaps, the Championship is one step to high for him

As our squad is now I expect comfortably mid table and a pretty dull season, I will wait and see where we are after the transfer window shuts before making my final prediction.

I voted Play-Offs. I really think we're over-estimating a lot of the league's overall quality bar those released and a select few others

The only players who would command a fee of over £10m are Asprilla and possibly Louza and Kone. The rest are just small change merchants.

And even with Louza hard to see us ever making a profit on him really. Agree Kone and Asprilla have a lot of upside for buyers.

I think the hardest team to make predictions about is the one you support.

I don’t have many expectations for the season (based on our transfer activity so far, which admittedly at last does seem to be picking up). I can’t see us being serious challengers, but equally I’d be disappointed to be struggling. So probably mid table, interspersed with a few highs where we get excited for the play-offs, and a few wobbles where we might temporarily flirt with the bottom end of the table.

I’m expecting to see a fitter team with a more defined playing style. Ismael has a record of starting seasons well, so especially with the extra home match now then I believe that’s a possibility. Maybe we get found out as the season progresses and our lack of real quality is exposed.

But really who knows? Anybody who argues over predictions is missing the point really, as that’s all they are. Guesses. Only time will tell. But right now I’d say somewhere around where we finished last season looks very possible. A couple of players may surprise us, a few may disappoint. I’d just like some stability this season, and to be in a better shape by this time next year.

Maybe... But Asprilla and Kone are not worth that much yet

Asprilla may be the next JP, or just the next Quina, time will tell!

Last season we had a squad that was always going to finish mid table, and this season will be much the same.

I see a lot of fans are predicting mid-table, but I just cannot see how we could possibly finish that high with the squad we’ve got. We’re just not going to score goals. I hope we stay up, but thinking it’s unlikely right now.
