Yes. Best to forget all those great victories and performances from the past. Interferes with wallowing in the misery of today. Damn you yesteryear .
It’s crazy to think that Sarr has been with us for 4 seasons now. He’s gone past the stage of having potential he is in the thick of the prime stage of his career. I’ve certainly not see anything special that would warrant a transfer fee like his and week in week out I see championship players, even players making the step up from L1 playing him off the field. When does it stop? Either Bilic sees something no one else does or he is forced to play him?
All those great Sarr-inspired victories = one win v Liverpool. The fa cup semi final win was the high point of WFC's entire existence. Try tearing the head off it over that instead. Deulofeu is in the thinking man's wanck bank.
I agree with you and many of the comments on here but also, I don't think the team helps him play to his strengths i.e. his pace! Instead of playing the ball to his feet all the time, play it inside the full backs for him to run onto?
1/ Yes wasn't implying lots of Sarr-inspired victories. 2/ Possibly yes. Better than the other FAC SF win, as a high point, beating champions Liverpool to finish second - nothing can ever top that match/high-water mark. 3/ Still inconsistent and frustrating but far less so. What a signing he was. That double at Wembley. That hat-trick vs Cardiff.
He’s forced to play him surely, to at least somewhat protect his value. We all know the only reason teams will *potentially* pay £25 million for him is because of the Liverpool game. If he’s dropped in the Championship then other interested parties might finally realise what a poor player he really is.
No. The high point of WFC's entire existence was this: Football League Division 1 (Tier: 1) Saturday 14/05/1983 Liverpool (H) 2-1 Manager: Taylor, G. Team: Barnes, J. C. B.; Blissett, L. L.; Callaghan, N. I.; Franklin, P. L.; Jackett, K. F.; Patching, M.; Rice, P. J.; Rostron, J. W.; Sherwood, S.G; Sims, S. F.R; Sterling, W. R. Used subs: Lohman, J. H. P. Scorers: Blissett, L. L. (1); Patching, M. (1) Att: 27,173
https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/watfords-ismaila-sarr-price-tag-revealed-amid-west-ham-interest/ Rumours of a 20 million euro valuation with Wet Spam and Bayer Leverkusen being interested. I would take that, one year left on his contract and will give plenty for Ubenga to play with.
Oh please let this be true... I do not think we can stand another season of him sulking through games. Spam already have some speedy wingers mind. 20M is a lot more than I would of valued him at, but he is still young and can adapt.
I'm afraid this is a non-starter; it's a matter of personal pride for Gino that we won't sell below what we paid for him, so they'll have to double or maybe even triple their offer to prize this promising young talent out of Vicarage Road.
Shame we didn’t take the money last year. He clearly didn’t want to be here, but was too quiet to ask to leave
It’s good news, because it means that the €25 million Udinese pay for him when he goes at the end of June won’t cause any eyebrow raising by the authorities.
I was there. A great performance, in what would have been Patching's last game before retiring through injury if he hadn't played so well that he signed on again for the next season. Never seen the team listed like this before, says Bunny, H.
Now Bunny, (un)Happy? Also shows how flexible GT could be with players & systems; Blissett & Barnes central with Sterling taking Barnes’ more regular spot on the left. Also, what a pity Franklin had such bad injuries as he would have been immense for us from what I saw of him. With such as Terry as well, we had some pretty good CBs for a side willing to risk conceding 3 in trying to score at least 4! And that’s before John McClelland joined.
It might be sensible to sell him during the close season and get a good price rather than risk him leaving on a Bosman at the end of next season.
Given his contributions this season ranged from invisible man to cowardly lion, and he’s undoubtedly a top earner, we should sell him for pretty much whatever anyone is prepared to give us for him.
Sarr was/is my favourite player but clearly stayed here one season too many (if not 3). One wonders what his career trajectory might have been had he gone to Liverpool or Man Utd in 2020. I hope he can still salvage a top level career. 20m Euros with one year left and coming off a poor season... I will take it sadly.
On what possible basis? Good luck to him for the future and all that, but he wouldn’t be anywhere near the top of my list of favourite Watford players, even of the last four years.
Started last season quite well, but didn't do much when he came back from injury. Mind you, he's always been the sort of player to produce in spots without ever really taking a game by the scruff of the neck (with one notable exception)
I wanted Sarr to stay at the beginning of the season , but he really needs to go now playing Sarr was like having 10 men on the pitch for most of the game with a bonus 10 min spell when we would have the full 11 am surprised we haven’t already done a deal, but guess when even watford’s own TV station continually calls him out for being lazy it’s a hard sell.
