I've not stubbornly insisted anything. I'm merely open to the idea that given Rob's record before and since, our record before and since and what I observe at our club, that he was never the problem and shouldn't have been sacked.

If Luton do win tomorrow, I wonder if they will hire a better Web Designer to update their horror show of a forum. It's 2023... they would be playing PL football and fans' of the big boys would be sickened by a forum that reeks of 1995 and coloured using Microsoft Paint.

I think Pootown will win tomorrow. They have been very consistent since the new year. Edward’s did inherit a very settled team, and had a set of players that were already committed, unlike our lot. But credit to him, he has got the most out of some pretty average players, and found a way of winning

It would be a proper fairytale, club handed monstrous points deductions from the authorities due to the reckless actions of an owner tumble down the divisions and out of the league before being bought by fans, and then rapidly climbing the divisions to reach the promised land on one of the smallest budgets in the division and a manager cast off by their nearest rivals. Far different to most of the other "fairy tale" narratives the media regularly tries to create, such as billionaire backed Bournemouth coming up whilst breaching FFP or even this season somewhat laughably, sportswashing Newcastle cracking the top 4.

If it was any other club, I'd want them to win. But it's not, so please, please, please Coventry, do the business. Play up Sky Blues!

I had a strange dream last night.

Mr IBB was being wheeled in a bed down Wembley Way, similar to the beginning of 'The Monkeys '.

All sorts of lizards and creatures were running around and Dina, one of our players at Hazelwood was stretching on the pitch.

No sign of my Aunty Dolly or Baldrick with an alsatian's head.

    What does it all mean?

Even though they do not meet very often at all , Middlesbrough have a rivalry with Darlington.

I wonder how many times Watford and Edwards will be crowbarred into the coverage ?

Don’t blame them btw - just another layer of the story.

Only Burnley have gained more points in the Championship during the period that Edwards has been in charge at Luton.

Tin foil hat says the man whose post reflects what I suggested. Luton were still so fit in the p/o semi because they were reaping the benefits of a pre-season at the requisite level, whilst any attempts Bilic may have made to get the squad fitter only seemed to cause muscle injuries…a typical reaction to overloaded training onto an inadequately prepared base level. That has already been suggested by other posters on here, none of whom, I’ll wager, will have ‘protecting Gino’ as the reason they don’t want Luton to succeed.
You will probably dismiss this interpretation as it does not fit your narrative; fair enough, but to claim subsequent events prove we should have kept Edwards is not sustainable. As mentioned on here before, these issues do not have to be purely binary.

And to state those who were not disappointed to see Edwards leave WFC as being ‘complicit in (their) promotion’ is risible and indicative of the rabbit-hole you seem to have buried yourself in.

That’s a very reasonable view to hold, even if I do not think he was the correct man for the job here. Even the 14 points he garnered could have been only 9 if the first 3 games had gone the way the balance of play suggested. Added to that, I thought our play was becoming more not less disjointed so I am unconvinced he would have succeeded here over the 46 games. It is perfectly reasonable to use his performance at the sc*m to suggest he might have done the same here, but probably not in a single season. He did not have a full rebuild on his hands with them. As it was clear (despite Fuxbury’s BS) that promotion was the only option, he did not have that time to play with.

The fact that he was never going to be given that time, and that the next 2 appointees were not successful either, takes us to the realms of WHY we have got into that position, and I’d suggest that many of those on here who were not convinced by Edwards do not disagree with your stance on Pozzo’s mismanagement. But that’s not exactly the same discussion as to whether Edwards should have even been appointed, let alone sacked.

Just as a matter of interest, I wonder how many people who are banging the Edwards drum would now be stating they are happy to have finished 10th, say, with him remaining as head coach for next season. I think you yourself probably would, but I’m not sure that would be true of all. I have a suspicion ‘retaining Edwards’ might be a current stick to beat Pozzo with. ‘No ambition’ and ‘happy to tread water’ are accusations I can almost see scattered across various posts.

I hope last season was the last example of the head coach revolving door ‘policy’ and that the financial damage is not too severe to mean if it takes 2 more seasons in the Champ then we’re still solvent.

Just had a 4 hour dog walk and now in a nice little pub near the river. There is no TV here and I’m about to turn my phone off until about 8pm when I will nervously look for the score.

Well here we are then. The final few hours before Lut*n become a ‘bigger club’ than us again for a number of years. I suppose we’ve had our 30 years and all good things come to an end.

Lockyer looks in trouble. Collapsed pretty much off the ball. Rewound and as he was back-pedalling he went straight to the floor, no one near him.
