So now we're getting statements from DNSYE?

This whole thing gets more bizarre with every passing week.

Feel sorry for the blokes wasting so much time on this because Duxbury can’t be bothered, but they really should publicly pull the plug and put the blame right on the club’s door. The club are a disgraceful organisation.

Agree, but at least they are jumping through all the hoops so that the list of excuses the club can give gets smaller.

Basically DNSYE have called the club’s bluff. The owner is now running out of excuses but will return to what he knows best, say nothing and hope it all blows over.

Kicking the can down the road is clearly in the hope anger will be reduced and the last season forgotten. The message will then be get behind the new regime and we all need to be positive. Angry talks will only only harm us.

He’s never going to do a forum and never was. If a Q&A does take place he’ll put forward Manga and Ismael. Two new guys who can’t be blamed for anything.

I’m afraid I think you’re right. Pozzo will hope against hope that the team will be successful next season so that the fans won’t be so dissatisfied (he’d be right) and so he doesn’t have to sack the manager. But if it doesn’t happen Ismael will be sacked and the cycle begins again because he doesn’t have an alternative strategy.

As someone who has been accused of defending the owners , I have to say this is a bloody disgrace! . I really appreciate the efforts the DNSYE podcast guys have gone to to make this happen. As they’ve said , all the club need to do is offer a date and venue , the rest has been done for them. That surely is pretty easy .

There is clearly some evasion going on here , but it won’t work as whenever they have it , the tough questions will be asked . Though it calls into serious question that this is a genuine attempt to talk to the supporters, as opposed to just a facade , which a lot of people on here have been saying since the beginning .

Yes, it's all just stalling tactics. It's pretty obvious the club do not want this to happen in any format unless they organised it. But keeping vital information such as a date/time/venue from the organisers at this point, when they have done everything correctly and legally (gone through the club's media department, corresponded to emails etc.) is just kick in the teeth. Peter and the guys are still very passionate to make this happen and have a large amount of supporter groups and factions who are backing them also. Right now, they cannot do any more until they hear an offical word from the club. As others' have eluded to in this thread, it's highly speculated that the club will continue to stall until there is no set date possible (to close to pre season) then doors between the two parties will be severed.

There is still a chance it will happen of course, and we cling to that hope at the moment. If they outright do not want this to happen, then tell the DNSYE group and send them an offical email or letter. That is right and proper way to handle it, rather than ghosting them and playing the waiting game for them to give up the idea. But am I at all surprised at how the club are handling this? Absolutely not.

It's all just a game. Keep stringing them along so they're super grateful when they eventually get fed scraps on the eve of the new season. Or box them into a corner so they issue an ultimatum, leading to Ben Manga giving a solemn statement on the club website explaining why the club felt they had the regrettably break contact with the supporters group after members turned hostile and made unacceptable demands.

Don’t forget Duxbury said in the programme once he doesn’t like public fans forums and “at your place “ type meetings as he think round much gets let out afterwards and it’s an invasion of privacy.

That pretty much sums up their attitude to potentially speaking to fans really .

lol Gino was never going to attend this in any format.

It'll be the usual fluff with the usual suspects.

The club will have their paid stooges in the room and on social media after to make everything sound hunky dory.

I am not at all surprised Dux hates these things. 'At your Place' was a total distaster last time it was done and he sat their like a grinning fool. Yes it was streamed live on Hive Live (during the pandemic) when we had empty stadiums but then you have that other select group of fans' who attended a "meeting" with the uppers in the club. Sworn to secrecy about it all. Why is the telling the truth such a hard thing for this club to do? I get about not pubically releasing figures protected information that makes sense. But how white must their tounges be with all these little lies and false dawns?

If they don't do this meeting, then protests really need to step up to get them out. It's such a simple task and if they can't do this how can we trust them with the whole club?

Hmmm...the club is clearly awful at communicating but I do think people's expectations are far too high and that doesn't help either.

If we think back honestly old style fans forums were basically a load of benign questions about tedious things like how many ticket stubs gave someone priority for away games, or squad rotation decisions, or what pre-match meal the squad have. But obviously as business and finance has come to the fore in football, and social media and internet means information that was previously only really visible to a select few is now spread far and wide, the types of questions people have are far more complex. We could probably spend a day in a room with Duxbury trying to forensically go through the books and question him on each Macquarie Bank loan or whatever and still never get the full picture. 'The truth' is a pretty moveable goal in that context I reckon.

Obviously none of that excuses the pisspoor and frankly negligent attempts to communicate with fans in recent seasons and Gino's overall strategy of hiding in the shadows. They should have been doing to simple stuff right and that would probably satisfy most of the fans most of the time.

But that implies the only issues are financial. There are many, many topics which still need clarifying away from the details of finances - the club could simply state they cannot discuss monetary issues and still face fans regarding things like managerial hiring/firing, the performance of senior board members, poor player recruitment, lack of youth investment (technically financial, but I mean more in terms of infrastructure and policy), terrible fitness team, poor attitude in the squad, lack of leadership, having a PR team made up of inept drop-outs, etc etc.

Hear, hear. If the owners have done anything remotely dodgy, or even just messed up, the finances they’ll never admit that in public, but all those other issues you list are clear for all to see and irrefutable.

My prediction with this is they are trying to kick it into the long grass as they are desperately hoping for a good start to next season, so if they can delay until after then everything will dissipate. I think they’ve been delaying until we have a good spell, stupidly thinking a good spell is just round the corner due to their genius decision making like hiring wilder, but that good spell hasn’t come, and more than likely never will.

It would be nice to know the real reason that happened. All we have is speculation that relationships broke down with Gino. We do know that Edwards was Duxbury's choice and was willing to stand by him. Was it partly down to resentment due to the manager not being his pick? Just my view, no truth in this. Two losses in ten games is not a bad run either, so I refuse to believe it was down to results on the field.

My guess is that Gino was never convinced so he was always on borrowed time, we hadn't been playing well, the wins could have gone either way, the draw vs WBA was a huge robbery, we were 5th and were on a poor run of 5 or 6 games, and HMSPTL was expected to be top 2. It looked more likely that we would drop down further rather than climb higher....so...
It's shame and not just with hindsight. He seemed a decent guy, needed time to find his feet, had what we have seen is an unbalanced and self-important squad. A month later it looked the right decision but of course it all then fell away....

Yeah our squad didn't end up being as good as was initially thought, in large part due to our strikers all being worse than could have been imagined, but there also wasn't a stylistic fit with Edwards and the club in general - I don't think it was so much about him needing to find his feet, but as him feeling pressured to try and play a style of play he wasn't used to with a type of player he wasn't used to. He seemed to want to make us a possession based team more in line with our PL heritage, despite that not being what he'd had success with before. At Luton he went back to dropping any pretences of attractive football and straight away continued with the kind direct football he'd deployed at Forest Green.

And let's be honest, him repeatedly playing Kamara at RWB was valid grounds for questioning his sanity.
