The scenes on here when Gino agrees to a ground share with ‘them’ because their **** hole isn’t up to PL standards

I’ll be watching the final stage of this years cycling event the Giro d’Italia. Fellow Welshman Geraint Thomas has a surprisingly good chance of winning it, thanks to the favourite getting Covid and his Ineos team leader breaking a leg. Luton 3 Coventry 667, the neighbour of the beast

Fwiw it’s worth I think Coventry will win, I know Luton’s rise from non-league is a big story in itself, I just think Mark Robbins taking Cov from league one to the PL is more in line with the Howe/Wilder story arc, and the more likely outcome.

    "Coventry"

I will not be able to watch and have been ending every sentence for the last few days with "Coventry" a la George III in Blackadder III.

I shall watch the Lyon tennis probably unless the unlikely happens and Coventry are 27-0 up and it's safe to turn over.

May the gods protect us all and deliver us a favourable result.

    "Coventry".

OK Picture this - Luton win and end up doing a Brentford. Survive first season, buy sensibly, build a Brighton style model of sustainable, progressive football all under Edwards. New stadium. and we, meanwhile, will be on our 15th coach in 3 years whilst the new director of football Igom Tayab promises change.

When I was 9 years old, Watford got to an FA cup Semi Final and I was excited (I'd been a bit to young to appreciate it 3 years before) but we put a barman in goal and got hammered. I was hurt and desperately did not want to see Tottenham go on to win the final. They didn't. Coventry came along and held the ground, and became my 'second team' for the next few years.

I hope they can do so again. Up the Cov.

He played a left footer at right back for 2 games, so that pretty much makes the rest of his career academic.

Doing that was already academic anyway, after his disastrous pre season.

I think there are a lot of people on here kidding themselves they don’t want Luton to go up because of the rivalry. I think it’s a lot more to do with backing an owner and his decisions, which means Luton going up will he a direct result of something they actively supported. It’s going to be difficult for a few on here to look themselves in the mirror if Luton do go up. Certainly anyone who called Edwards ‘out of his depth’ will be complicit in their promotion.

Errr no - it’s definitely the rivalry for me. Not one jot of anything deeper than that - and nor does there need to be. The rivalry is enough - I just don’t think it resonates in the same way for younger fans because they haven’t really lived through it. The fact that Edwards is there would just be rubbing salt in the wound but it’s not the defining factor for me by any means.

I was actually at that Cov/Spurs Final in the Coventry end, having won a ticket from WFC in a ballot. I had a great time.

Do you really, really, believe that fans on here want Luton to fail in some form of support for our owner, rather than pure hatred of our long-standing rivals ?? Give your head a wobble....

I hope you're right but the league table and form table suggest otherwise.

You clearly didn’t read what I wrote properly, it’s not in support of our owner, it’s so that their own views don’t directly result in Luton getting promoted.

Sorry I was basing my comment on this "...kidding themselves they don’t want Luton to go up because of the rivalry. I think it’s a lot more to do with backing an owner and his decisions, which means Luton going up will he a direct result of something they actively supported.....".
Either way it is 100% down to the hatred of our rivals for 99.9% of the fan I'm sure. In the same way that it seems 0.1% of the fans would like to see Luton promoted so they can use to it to further criticise the owner to meet their own agenda.

I think there are plenty of fans who will be hoping Luton don’t go up because of their backing of Gino and his swift removal of a non-Gino appointment. They know exactly who they are and there are plenty on this thread.

Not sure what you're talking about here. I don't want them to go up because they are our rivals. Couldn't care less how well they are run or who the manager is. We as a fan base have nothing to do with sacking managers and anybody who said he was out of his depth have absolutely no input in whether they go up or not. Edwards has done well there but it makes no difference to me whether it's him, Pol Pot or Dame Dena Everage in charge, I can't stand them and every ounce of me hopes they fail. To say it's the fans fault if they go up is completely ridiculous

I find it odd that some don't. Don't you feel a little buzz when you see Luton have lost a game ? Do you think Sheff W fans should be happy for Sheff U's promotion to the prem ?

I find it strange that there's a handful of clubs that have no real rival and try and squeeze their way in become part of an established one - Coventry, Leicester and Middlesbrough spring to mind on this, as they try and get in on Villa-Brum, Derby-Forest and Newcastle-Sunderland respectively.
