I see your point, but I'm sure the legends involved would be canny enough not to purely allow themselves to be used as a PR stunt, I'm sure there are genuine benefits to having someone like Robinson or Doyley (two names I've seen floated around, no real evidence to back that up, but they're both in coaching at the moment) back

One thing in Deeney’s favour, he won’t keep his mouth shut and he doesn’t desperately need the money. So IF there is anything deeper than normal incompetence going on that we don’t know, maybe he’d be the man to tell us if it all went **** up.

It seems a flawed approach to limit yourself to recruiting an ex player to a coaching role. They should recruit on merit.
