If he ain't good enough for Brum as a player he ain't good enough for us either! However if he has his coaching badges, I would not be adverse to giving him a chance on the coaching staff in some capacity.
Gone from being the problem to the saviour as the man to bring some leadership to the club it seems for some . Just because he could coach the kids because I doubt he’d be part of the first team coaching team unless Troy wanted a quick pay day. If the club wanted a legend on the staff they’d get Gibbsy , Robbo or Lloyd as they are actually coaches.
It’s just the way of the world for a lot of Watford fans, what we no longer have because they were deemed not good enough but haven’t had for a while is somehow the answer, instead of the answer being neither of what we’ve got, or what we’ve had - but something else.
By 'the answer', do you mean people want him back as a starting striker? Because I really can't see many suggesting that. Seems like another imaginary enemy to get annoyed about.
He wont be back here - I can see him having a season at Walsall, back where it all started for him .... I also woudn't be surprised if he rocked up at Wrexham
I don't think many want him back as a player but maybe in a coaching role. I sat in front of him at a Watford game about 3 years and he spoke a lot of sense about the game and does across well on the radio
Ismael could probably do worse than have Deeney on his coaching staff. Not interested in seeing him here as a player, but on the coaching side, there’s potentially value to having somebody who knows both the good and the bad about our dressing room/ownership culture. Not that I have any idea as to his coaching ability, but he’d be a reasonable middle-man between the staff and players. Think he’s probably more interested in pursuing his media stuff though.
Lol very kind of you to suggest Kalu is under the age of 70. However much I hated Andre' Gray as footballer - he did compete with Deeney on the level of nice inks.
I've never understood "inks" on anyone. Look horrible, as though someone has fallen asleep on a newspaper. A little atristic image somewhere maybe, but whole limbs stained with ink.....it maybe fashionable but looks just awful.
Yes it's a very personal thing to have I guess. A lot of tattoo's are generally small and hidden under clothing. It's more of a "sportsman" thing to do it seems. I used to date a girl in my twentys who had a massive snake tattoo that started at the base of her back and went up to look like it was biting her neck. Absolutely stunning peice of art - I remember she said it was very painful and took hours to do.
Yup - no idea why people like these sleeve efforts. I've got a tattoo myself. Affectionately known as "jumbo's sh*t tattoo" back in the hedge fund days.
I think a media career awaits. People like his down to earth style and he is not frightened to call a cojón a cojón...
Make of this what you will. It could be true or BS - it's Reddit so... Watford have held talks with Troy Deeney over a potential return to Vicarage Road in some capacity this summer but a playing role, at this stage, looks unlikely. Watford have discussed the possibility of Deeney joining Valerien Ismael’s new coaching set-up with the club open to supporting his transition into coaching. But it appears Watford are currently prioritising other striker options as part of their summer recruitment plans. “Everyone knows this is Troy’s home,” Technical Director Ben Manga told The Athletic. “Some time in the future he will surely return to his club in some form of a coaching role, but we are not looking to bring Troy back now as a player.” Deeney is keen to continue playing and is considering various options himself, in addition to being involved in ongoing discussions with Watford. I mean it’s kinda not Reddit when it’s Watford Observer and Athletic first. Very clearly fed to Andrew French by club / external PR company you’d say.
Done his most volatile podcast yet probably. Said he didn't get paid for four months in our first relegation season, didn't want to get paid whilst injured. Says his knee was quite literally leaking, says the Director of Football was crying after relegation. He also says the manager doesn't pick the team, who and where they play was the quote. Scary.
I'm assuming you are referring to "He also says the manager doesn't pick the team, who and where they play was the quote" I didn't hear that part either, and listened to it all.
Soon after he used the cups to explain the physio team and manager I’m looking forward to seeing how the cup gets on in the second half of the season
