Since we got relegated after a single season, we only get 2 years of PP, so next season is our last season of them
How do you think Asprilla would fit in to this? It's been a frustrating season in many ways for him, with 3 managers now seemingly not really fancying him (not physical enough or doesn't fit the system perhaps?)
...and that's secured against loans so can't spend unless we find another way to pay off the 3rd party loans.
I’d be worried if Sarr stays. He absolutely doesn’t want to be here, and has a year left on his contract. I’d like Pedro to stay, but would rather we took the money and rebuild.
He might do as a winger, Fariolis wingers usually don't contribute much in terms of goals but rank highly for assists, could maybe do a job there. Might suit CM if we're really looking to dominate games next season but a bit unsure on his role atm
We can't use the money from selling Pedro to rebuild. If we sell we have to use the funds to address the loan.
Hard to see how there'll be money for rebuilding when the debt is so huge. Any sales will just go to plugging the ever-widening gaps in the finances.
Having read all the interview pieces I am a little more confident in what will happen, Ubenga seems to know what he is talking about and seems focused on building a squad which is stronger mentally. I think we are going to have a busy summer of ins and outs. Lets wait and see where we are at the end of September I guess.
The big question is will he be allowed to do what he wants . I mean Duxbury probably thought he was doing that by getting Edwards in .
Gotta wait and see, easy to be sceptical though given past events isnt it. I am hoping we did get investment and Ubenga coming in was one of the prerequisites.
We need a huge amount of outgoings in the summer. One of the biggest challenges will be finding clubs who want predominantly crap players who are on big money contracts. I can't see many people wanting to take on Kabasele for his £30k a week, and there are plenty more like him.
JP, Sarr and Louza sales should bring in at least £30m. Hopefully we can get players like Kabs out on loan with the loan club paying 50% of wages. Ubenga has his work cut out for him thats for sure. Maybe we should send Ubenga a link to Reids scouting thread!!
Maybe I’ll be left with egg on my face here but he has an exceedingly long contract, a lot of wealthy suitors and has had a good season that has likely appreciated his value versus last season. I’d have thought bids start at the value of Newcastle’s last year which was £30m+. That said, I struggle to see how we get much for Sarr given his contract situation, and though I rate Louza, I can’t see why someone would pony up more than we paid for him.
Unless your reliable source is his bank manager or wife then I would take that with a pinch of salt. I have no source at all but there is now way we are paying him £42k a week
His original contract was apparently worth around £30k pw, I can't imagine his moronic extension would have been much of a pay rise, in the circumstances, but who knows.
There are always rumours about players money but most of the time it is a guesstimate at best. I reckon Kabasele will be on around £30k but I don't know. I have only ever known two player wages with genuine knowledge behind the figures, one from about 2010 and one from last season. I remember talking to an agent a few years ago and asked him about the numbers that get thrown around and asked how true to reality they are given the numbers were so staggeringly high, and he said often the real numbers were actually much higher than gets rumoured.
Not only moving players on. but doing it early as having funds late in the `window` will not give us time to find decent replacements.
We extended his contract whilst we were in a relegation battle and looking likely to go down, just another crazy decision. Could've waved goodbye to him for nothing in June 2021, yet here we are still paying him to be a bit part player years later. Expect he took a pay cut or had a relegation reduction clause in there but then we did have to fight off competition from Manchester United, Arsenal and others to get him to extend! https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/arsenal-man-utd-eye-christian-21265201
Enjoying imagining an alternative reality where Manchester United's starting CB partnership is Christian Kabasele and Essaid Belkalem
I don't think louza is suited to the championship. Lots of passing ability but no steel. If you put him in burnley squad he'd be an asset but he goes far too absent for a player we need to help dominate centre midfield (for my liking). He's like the Glen hoddle was to Bryan Robson, but we don't have anyone even remotely like a B. Robson...

Fingers crossed there is a bidding war. Problem is we might get Gino holding out and holding out until near the end of the window meaning both Ubenga and the manager has no resources from his sale to work with at all until very late. Newcastle and AC Milan have been linked with him. How far could AC Milan realistically go ? £20M.
The sale proceeds from selling Pedro will go to pay down the 3rd party loans. If we spend it, it's genuinely promotion or administration.
Given the pay-cuts they all took in the summer, that would mean Kabasele was on 60k a week. No chance.
Why is £20m as far as Milan could go, when they've spent £30m+ on a player 9 times in the last 6 years? One of their more recent big purchases being £30m for a 21 year old attacker who scored 19 goals in 90 games in Belgium. JP has 20 in 73 Championship games, plus has shown himself capable in an awful PL side.
