It's not really good news is it. We're selling a Premier League player for probably 50% of what we signed him for. It's a disaster and another example of the gross mismanagement the club has undergone over the past 4 years.
It’s good news that we’ll no longer have to carry him through games as we’ve had to for far too long now. Totally agree in terms of the likely fee we’ll get but I won’t lose any sleep about Sarr leaving the club.
The worst signing in the history of the club. The sooner we get rid and accept he was a bad signing, the better.
I think he's a Premier League player in the same way Craig Cathcart is. Maybe a coach/club will 'unlock' him, but I can't think of a PL side who he improves, based on his last 2 years.
Talk on the internet about Liverpool and Man U interest, but it all seems to be based off vague talk from three years back rather than concrete stuff now. Can't see them being in for him now, Villa turned him down and anyone else who's scouted him would not be convinced based on his time here. Consistently inconsistent, doesn't score enough, create enough or work hard enough, heart of a mouse and hides on the pitch. He'll probably go to Palace.
I'm genuinely interested to see what money we can get for him. He generates loads of hype despite being a waste of a shirt, so hopefully we can turn that hype into £.
I'm hearing he will go to Luton in the summer for £9,999,999 (they want the satisfaction of taking him from us for less than £10m).
Call me a cynic but surely Gino will class this as undisclosed along with the Pedro fee so we never know how much loss we make on Sarr alone
No chance would Gino accept that amount. It barely covers the budget for the food each month, hence taking from the players pockets unaware.
I mean, that's very commonly done even with deals which don't end in the selling club getting their pants pulled down as much as we will
Then sit on their bench for 6 months. Then come back "like a new player" Then loaned to CSKA. Then contract settled early.
VicBait on twitter lamented what a financially poor signing Sarr has been. Our odd fans are having none of it! “Promotion/relegation was worth far more than any loss”. Do other clubs have these fans!??
You could argue that Dan Gosling was worth it because he played his part in getting us promoted, not a man brought in for £30m million in order to get us to the next level!
It's baffling. 'The £30 million player we signed to kick on in the Premier League was a good investment because we got relegated and he helped us get promoted again, so we recouped the money on his fee several times over.' Do these people stop and engage brain for one moment? Have they not noticed we've been relegated again since? Or thought that maybe the £30m could've got us 3-4 players in areas of the squad that actually needed strengthening rather than a position that didn't even exist in our head coach's formation?
Yes, they seem to conveniently forget that spending that money on Sarr instead of a couple of good CBs, an extra option in midfield and possibly a goalie upgrade effectively led to the initial relegation in the first place. I think the rapid sacking of Gracia also had a lot to do with Pozzo being pi55ed off that he was reluctant to put the new toy in the team.
If there's only one thing to look forward to with this club, its seeing the back of this lazy, pathetic, spineless, overrated waste of space. Six more games, then we can make our monstrous loss on him and move on.
Udinese will sign him after lengthy negotiations between the owners for an absolutely genuine one billion dollars.
Is there anyone left still defending this gutless tosser? We’ve made some awful signings over the years but he is far and away the worst.
