Someone on Twitter mentioned Adi Hutter as a potential replacement. Obviously worked with Manga at Frankfurt for a while, would he take on a championship team and can we afford him is the real question. Guided Frankfurt to 7th, 9th and 5th in his time there.

Yes but the real question is, can we still catch Brentford?

I don't mind settling in the Championship for a few years whilst we clear out the deadwood. It's where we belong.

Football wise probably true but financially will be a nightmare potentially.

Mind you seeing more young players might see us be more consistent in our performances and pride shown ?

As much as we can analyse the tactics and recruitment etc, which definitely does need talking about as always.

But today the lethargy, decision making and the sloppiness was so alarming.

Why is Kamara doing that for the first goal? Then why is he not able to stop it on the line? Why did we slip over so much? Why are Choudhury & Sirreralta not communicating? So much of it was avoidable.

All the youngsters would be fine to come in during a settled summer window. The likes of Kone and Ferreira to go on loan, maybe Porterhouse too. But here we are in the midst of a bloody slog in the Champ, destroying these kids as well.

Every season we seem to have more injuries than anyone else in the league. While this season has been the worst, there hasnt been some sort of mini injury crisis each season for the past 7 or 8 seasons. Doesnt seem to matter who the head coach is, what group of players we have or who the medical team is. The only consistent I can think of is are we over doing it in training?

There were rumors when Woy was in charge that the players' were being over-worked in training. However, it's possible that sort of regime has carried on into this season. Not trying to make an excuse for it, but it could be part of the problem. Somebody needs to look into the how the fitness is handled at the club. Something is clearly not right - a new signing goes off with a hamstring injury in his second game? It's almost laughable.

Watched the first half, which was as much as I could take.

Tired of watching a team without a plan, or discernible style of play. Tired of seeing this mishmash squad of mental midgets roll over and get beaten with barely a wimper. Tired of how meaningless we’ve become.

We’re crap, and somehow we’re still in with a shout. Christ though, it’s pretty sobering to think that unless we’re able to scrape promotion, this is probably about as good as it’ll get for the next few years.

Gifted them their goals, but how often do we do that. Feels like every game we start slow, lethargic, pedestrian with no plan. Other teams worse than us look way better than what they are because we let them. We let teams press us, get back into shape when a break is on, re-organize while we dilly dally with the ball, bully us and win every second ball.

We must have the weakest mentality in the league. Our players are so fragile mentally. They aren’t men, they are scared little boys. They play football like year 8’s do when year 11’s come along. Panic sets in. It’s so frustrating. Just seems as if no-one wants to play for us, everyone is at Watford for a pay check and nothing more. We have no fight because of a severe lack of English players who know what it takes to play in the championship. We desperately need some HG players in.

We’ve shown that when we want it, we’re very good. I just don’t understand how we seem to be the only team that has players who decide when they want to play and when they don’t.

We smash Luton and Norwich, then call it a day for weeks on end. Before we put in another performance that makes us think we’ve finally turned the corner only to back it up with an atrocious performance the following game.

Thought I’d check Udinese to see if it’s a recurring Pozzo thing.

    I actually LOL’d.

I revel in our failure. I will love it when we fail to go up, we shift Sarr to Udinese because nobody will give us north of 8m for him and we start to see the reality of our situation.

I delight in Watford's failings these days.

Aside from a 10min spell at the start of the 2nd half, we were pure sh1te. No aggression, intensity or urgency at all. Seems whenever our players get above a light jogging pace the hamstrings go.

Martins hasn't shown much in 180 mins really. Convinced Kamara is a brain donor. Tobi kicking the ball away while we're 2-0 down was another impressive show of intelligence. Glad Davis got hooked. Absolute lump who offers very little unless its out on a plate for him. Sarr anonymous, will get more of the blame because we've seen him do much more, but its getting to the stage where performances like this are the norm not the exception.

Boro didn't really have to work for that which is the most disappointing part.

Apart from Louza and JP, and maybe Ajauro starting, that's probably our best team. We've alot out injured, but anyone planning on Cleverley/Kayemebe/Kabasele/Ngakia/Manaj etc coming back to fire us to promotion is gone in the head.

Well when Bilic took over we had a steaming/festering squad with absolutely no guts and no confidence.
I think Bilic then tried to knock them into shape but (as we've seen) the squad are full of cr@p and too aloof to realise their individual misgivings.
Bilic clearly wants to dump some of them hence his moans about still wanting more players he asked for, and today he was probably saying.. "there you go same old effort and performances what are you going to do about the current squad quality GP?"
I really think Bilic has had enough...?

It’s the poison of Pozzo that creates the attitudes among the players. No manager can change it. Pozzo can buy another 11 trading commodities and it will make no difference. We are not interested in building a team under our horrific owner.

Regarding fitness, this is a massive red herring and laughably Edwards still gets the blame for it.

Firstly, when the Pozzos took over we were told of their model which meant the head coach was interchangeable. We were told they implemented the same diet and fitness regimes across all clubs, including tracking the players remotely, the idea being it was easy to spot issues with such a model and issues would mostly be down to the coaches tactics etc.

With the way we churn through coaches it’s laughable to suggest every coach gets complete carte Blanche over the players fitness regimes, of course there will be some overlap, but as the club have told us themselves, they will still retain some control over the day to day fitness of the players. We hire head coaches, not managers. They will hire their own staff and coaches to run through football stuff, but the club will still retain some control over actual fitness.

Secondly, we generally look lethargic from the first minute, pro athletes who are half way through a season are not knackered that soon into a game due to a pre-season that happened over 6 months ago.

This happens due to a poor mindset and lack of motivation from the players, whether that comes from the players, the manager or both is another matter, but it is a question of mindset and motivation, not fitness or lack of.

Agree with this to a large extent.

I see 50 plus tennis players moving better than so called full time 19 year olds.

I still question the S and C but personal responsibility and intrinsic motivation should be to the fore.

I can't remember a less engaging season. Even the wins leave me flat. There's a long way to go but I can't see us developing the momentum necessary to qualify for - let alone actually win - the play offs. The enjoyment has been sucked out of the club - it'll return, of course, but not while Fuxbury is pulling the strings. I don't like any of the players, the beer at the stadium is overpriced, the stadium announcer's voice grates on me etc etc

    This article was from 2015:

His influence (Gino) is not confined to transfers and balance sheets. He is at Watford’s training ground most days, from where he monitors the efforts of his family’s three squads. All of their players wear GPS devices in training and it was by analysing and comparing this data last year that Pozzo noticed the training sessions he was witnessing in Hertfordshire were significantly less intense than those taking place simultaneously in Friuli and Andalucía.

Watford’s then manager, Beppe Sannino, had gone within weeks. It was also Pozzo who decided Billy McKinlay, eight days after his appointment last October, was not after all the right man to manage the team, replacing him with Slavisa Jokanovicand insisting the focus on success over sentiment “cannot be compromised – whatever the circumstances”.

According the the clubs own words, does anyone seriously think the club would just let Edwards allow the players to not be properly fit??

Let's be honest, if the Championship was any good we'd be in the bottom 6!

How on earth we are in the top 6 beggars belief!

One good game all season and that was against Sh*t Town.

The rest of the season has been sh*t.

Apparently Davis was always only going to play 45 minutes to build up his fitness .

    From BBC site :

"It was planned that he and (Keinan) Davis would play 45 minutes each as Keinan is coming back from injury."

This shows you know little about football. Same as your ridiculous defence of Kabasele for years.

It’s not an impossible injury list. Very challenging sure but it’s improved over the last few weeks and our football has got worse. The bloke needs to actually formulate a plan in his head about what he actually wants this team to be - and then impose it, injuries or not. He looks like a lost puppy in this sense.
