Slav has had a week longer with the new players and the youngsters are getting more composed and confident, easy win 3-0. Morris has to stay at LB. I would play Adeyemo ahead of Bayo too.
Interesting use of blood. Has a certain demonic slant to it. Hopefully they haven’t gone to the crossroads and sold their collective soul to the devil for this game otherwise we could be in for a big defeat. Although we do have God on our side . Could have an Old Testament ding dong on our hands .
Ivan I thought you looked a bit fuller of face yesterday in Murray's box,if you don't mind me saying!
Feeling a Bayo brace and then gets subbed on 60 mins for the new lad and takes so long to walk off the ref adds 19 mins added time.
Good job we have a new right back then .. https://mobile.twitter.com/WD18Fans/status/1616395857146044417
Andrew French @androofrench 11m Just finished talking to Slav. Bacuna will be back tomorrow, Choudhury fit enough for 90 mins now. Expect Ferreira to start as Ngakia…has a hamstring injury. Davis won’t be ready in time, last week’s illness put him behind schedule. Plus I’ve spoken to Slav about Araujo. Very excited by him, won’t be available tomorrow but should be for Middlesbrough. One signing down, two to go, as Slav said. Lastly, got latest on the Hause situation and that Slav expects several senior players to be back and in contention for Reading. I’ve got a lot of #watfordfc typing to do now!
Think we need to learn from the Blackpool game here. Bachmann Ferreira Sierralta Cathcart Kamara Choudhury Kone Asprilla Martins Bayo Sarr Something like this - we were way too passive to start in that game and on another day that fizzles out into a draw. Bayo cannot be relied upon to transition the ball at all, so leaving him and Sarr as the only men going forward simply won't work - but he does get in good positions and can finish, put Sarr and Martins either side of him and he'll get chances. Also whilst Morris did well against Blackpool, I don't think we have time for "nice" decisions when chasing an 11 point gap - go full strength.
I thought the start against Blackpool was fine - for the first 5-10 minutes, much better than in most games this season. If was after that they lapsed into the ultra-slow build-up from the back, which killed the momentum. I believe that was in part encouraged by playing three centre-backs, giving even more opportunity for short-passing tip-tap football. Also, many would say that Morris's performance was significantly better than several Kamara has put in recently. Kamara provides energy, but it's sometimes unfocused or even chaotic. I'm not sure putting him back in is necessarily preferable.
One thing I'll say with utmost confidence: Martins can definitely play as a loan striker. Whether he'd be any good as a lone striker I'm not so sure.
What exactly causes a hamstring injury? I am clueless when it comes to medical knowledge more than a first aid box . Is it a tight pull on a tendon or a sharp reflex?
From vast experience of tearing both of mine over the years - burst of pace after being stood still was the main reason. Got more hammies playing cricket than football.
Additionally, if you come back too early you not only risk re-tear, you overcompensate on the hip flexor which is far worse for a footballer. Feels like your leg is dangling off a thread.
It’s because footballers have large muscular thighs that are disproportionate to the rest of their legs and this means the hamstring tendon behind is inadequate to counter balance the strain
Ferreira in tomorrow in place of Ngakia confirmed by Bilic (sort of). I love how Gaspar isn't even an option there anymore. Sign a 32 year old full back, find out he can't actually play at full back then use him as a last resort central midfielder. Top recruitment.
That is true - are any of the injured midfielders back yet? But you’d think Ferreira is the number one right back now anyway .
This is a good observation. I don't think being in close proximity to a larger city like Sheffield helps Rotherham at all. You can tell that there's been a lack of investment in the town for years. The fact that the most interesting thing is the stadium, the tumbleweed rolling through the streets and the tree with "Rotherham" on it says a lot about the town.
Well, I believe Watford's problem may well be over-use of weights and muscle building. I've thought for a long time a lot of footballers overdo the bulking up. Troy was a case in point.
I believe his problem was more abdomen based than thigh. Although he did like thighs, especially when they were attached to the wings, breast and drumsticks after being deep fried.
I agree we'll win 1-0 and Cathcart will score a header but I think it will be a glancing header in the 54th. Just seems like a more realistic outcome.
