Yep, he looks like he is on a trajectory to be eating two shredded wheat each morning for the start of next season. He will be a sensational player for us in two years time.
I'm always amazed by the amount of responsibility Asprilla takes on. He's had so much thrown at him this season, and he's been desperately unlucky in terms of hard stats. Plays like a seasoned pro, and you feel like as soon as he bulks up he'll be a superstar
Very classy again today. The game was a mess but as soon as he came on the whole team settled down and we started playing forward again. Perfect ball for Martins in the build up to the first.
Another great impact from the bench , last 20 every game please can pick a pass great vision for a lad so young can't coach it he just has it
He is a great asset to have against teams that aren’t too physical. Mind you isn’t afraid to get stuck in .
Someone should do a little highlights vid of his through balls this season. De Bruyne esque in their weight , precision and vision .
Aweseom thanks so much Reids. He absolutely loves a no look. If we had a decent striker he would be on 5+ assists Can I say you missed Preston away I think it was, where he played 3 or 4 absolute peaches that unfortunately fell to Bayo and Manaj. 1.50 and 2.20 . I thought there was another one that didnt make the highlights vid
Tbf I was at the mercy of WyScouts tagging feature, I just clicked Asprilla and Through Balls and downloaded the best from that, they didn't count as through balls it seems so were missed!
Makes finding things a breeze! Just click one of the options and it puts every single event into a nice little playlist, the wonders of technology eh?
Is that AI going through the videos and identifying relevant examples or is there a human having to watch games and tag them? Presumably the former given the amount of games it seems to cover.
Not too sure in all honesty, I know some data providers do that (I know Statsbomb definitely use AI that's then checked over by a human to make sure it's accurate) but think it varies from provider to provider. I think I read in a book recently that Wyscout is done manually (the "taggers" are just insanely quick at what they do), WyScout definitely have enough money to hire a lot of taggers (I think they have an office in The Phillipines that they use for the taggers), last time I checked the full package of all leagues costs over €10k a year per account!
Can't teach that level of invention with passing. The one against Coventry tells you everything about his quality
To have that level of vision and weight of pass at 19 is insane. And to be doing it at this level, in a new country, with a language barrier, is incredible. Once he bulks up a bit and works on his finishing, he's got everything to be a player capable of playing at the very highest level.
You can watch a game at 4 X speed and follow what’s going on and pause in right place. I often watch recorded games at 2X as you can see tactical patterns easier
Yeah, Wyscouts level of accuracy makes me think it's human as well, I've never noticed any of the mistakes that I often notice with Statsbomb that you can tell is due to dodgy AI (sometimes the shot locations are dodgy if the weather is foggy or a lot of players are in the way, i've had to email in and get them to correct shot locations a few times when we've taken shots from corners closer to the goal than they've said we've done it - I want my xG to be bigger dammit!)
Should’ve scored today. Looks too desperate to score to be able to take chances instinctively. Thought at the time he could’ve shot with his first touch, but then he tried to control it, got that wrong, lost his balance and had to flick it with his weak foot.
Had to hit that chance first time, virtually an open goal. Very naive, takes too many touches and needs nobody near him to be able to do anything as he loses literally every shoulder to shoulder and falls off balance so quickly. However, is one hell of a player and will come good if he does the required work and puberty is kind.
@reids can we have a compilation video of his shots this season please? Instinctively reckon there will be loads of high xG misses in there.
I reckon when he breaks his cherry and actually scores a goal, that the flood gates will open and he will start scoring for fun, at least I hope so
Still don't have Statsbomb access but WyScout has him at 2.27 xG (0 goals) in all competitions for us this season
He has been unlucky with some brilliant saves against him, but he also seems to have a habit of hitting quite a few shots way over the bar. He needs to have someone on the coaching staff to teach him how to get over the ball better when taking his long shots then I'm sure he will soon been rattling in a fair few goals instead of ballooning good chances that he often creates himself over the bar.
He's done everything but score. It's a cliché but once he gets a goal he'll go on a run. He gets enough opportunities to keep forcing problems.
Probably confidence. Had he scored 5 goals this season he probably drills this first time in to the back of the net
