Deserves his own thread. Very impressive yesterday. Growing in confidence, and Bilic would be absolutely mental to let Kamara stroll back in next week
Yesterdays performances from many of the players is going to make Slaven think long and hard about his forthcoming line-ups
I was thinking this myself yesterday. I would still prefer Kamara over Morris, however, Morris is holding the shirt and hasn't done much wrong. Yesterday's performance from him deserves another game. Kamara has only himself to blame for missing the last 4 matches with his show of reckless petulance. I would keep Morris in over Kamara for the Rotherham game. That will show the squad, you have to fight hard to keep your place in the side. If you do that you will retain that place, no matter who is waiting in the wings. It's a good message to send and I think the entire squad would respect it.
Apart from pace there looks to be very little between Morris and Kamara, however James needs to consistently perform like he did yesterday. You're not going to get that with young and inexperienced players so I suspect Kamara will be back, but I'd rather give Morris a real run of games now and see if he can find some form.
I've been impressed by his solidity and his crossing. He's also taken his chance. If only he could work on his speed.
Nice to see a youngster doing so well. I think a lot of fans fell into the ‘he’s crap’ camp simply on cameo performances. At the end of the day you need to give players his age a bit of a prolonged chance and see if they sink or swim. It’s not long ago that you would have said he was third in the pecking order for left back behind Kamara and Sema. To be honest at the moment he is vying for that starting position. I think Bilic will keep him in, it would be sending the wrong message to parachute Kamara back in. Give Kamara some substitute appearances now and make him earn the shirt.
Well least Morris is going to be here next season .. Maybe Kamara knowing he is going to Udinese has affected his form ?
When they are both at their best, I think Kamara is streets better. But he’s a prat who thinks he’s better than he is and seems to often put in less than 50% effort - and it’s here that Morris is far more preferable. But you can’t make players faster - and he’s terribly slow. Neither are long term options.
Interestingly, I’m sat in a bar in Tartu, Estonia and they are showing Inter Milan vs Verona and Josh Doig is playing and looking up to standard. We really messed up that one considering we spent the same amount of money on Kalu or Kayembe.
I would keep him for Rotherham when you would expect to be on the front foot a lot but maybe bring Kamara back for the tougher games. Whatever happens at least it looks like we have two viable options for left back, three if you include Sema
Think that Saturday was his first good game and indeed the first time he looked a passable Championship player. Kamara has been a massive disappointment this season, thought he might not be up to Premier League standard but would be a Kikoesque asset in the Championship. He hasn't been. Would still start him on Saturday though, an average Kamara display is better than an average Morris one.
Got the impression Bilic felt he was helped by Cathcart marshalling him through the game and the defence in general being solid unlike v Swansea for example.
He did well tonight also seems to be improving all the time and has not been letting us down so far IMO.
Solid performance, would have been second choice for MOTM. Leave him there and keep Hassane 'such a nice guy' Kamara on the bench when he's fit.
Well that is one young player we can keep.. Done a pretty decent generally at this level but could do with more pace. In a more confident and reliable team he can only get better I feel.
Never been convinced by him but his FBref stats are somewhat decent. Probably worth keeping him around as a second choice, provided we get a decent first choice to replace Kamara.
Get used to seeing players of a similar calibre to Morris getting lots of game time over the coming years...
A steady Eddy looking at the statistics. Things he can definitely work on. His attitude has been the most impressive thing about him having a point to prove. Being dropped from an Academy probably has woken his eyes up to the reality of professional football more so than some of our squad who just turn out half arsed each week comfortable in the knowledge they'll get their unearned fat pay cheque at the end of the week.
Yes, this will be the new Watford. Going back to the days of the mid-nineties. Squad full of sh1t, but at least they tried.
Honestly, Morris has never put a foot wrong for us, certainly not the swashbuckling wing-back we would all like (and perhaps, depending on the head coach for next season, may need), but with finances likely to be tight, I don't mind this at all as a squad option. Now watch him play 46 games next season and become a regular boo boy for not getting up and down quick enough...
I like a steady full back - reminds me of Neil Ardley, Jon Harley. The modern full back that cannot defend gets tiresome pretty quickly.
Pleased for him, he deserves a new deal and has been solid enough when called upon. Would like to think he can only get better at this stage of his career.
