Slav has come out and said as reported in the Wobby
“Every team we play, the opponents want to prove themselves individually against our best players and so being a great player on paper means nothing. It means a lot to know you are a great player, but you still have to be on top of your game“

I think a good move, we have players who on paper should cause other teams issues and put them on the back foot. Asking them for more than their current output is what all of us want.

Who is our most pocketed player this season, either through no fault of their own due to support received or are happy just putting in mediocre performances each week and keeping their place because of their ‘potential’?

Maybe match by match of pocketed players will highlight who we think hasn’t hit the heights we’d hope for over the rest of the season will make good discussion ….. maybe not and should’ve stayed in bed.

    Happy Saturday, you ‘orns!

I think that is one of the bad things about Sarr. Nothing against him as a person and a footballer, but for our team other sides will always target him as they know he is a danger. He is litterally marked out of a game sometimes, which in a way frees up other options. When I said "bad things" I meant for him on the pitch. If he is constantly marked, he cannot do what he is best at, but then again that is the whole point of marking him in the first place. We saw yesterday that even TDB can really drive forward to create an attack, this is something Sarr can do and has done for us, but on a less than required basis. He was alright yesterday in spells but I think he drops his game when he cannot be fluid. I honestly do not think his attitude is wrong, he seems to enjoy his football - but he get's easily frustrated.

I don’t agree with that, because what he is is best at (but doesn’t seem to realise) is running fast. Get the ball to his feet and he can knock it forward and beat the defender. This should result in a shot, a cross or a free kick/penalty.

I don't think football is that simple, he can't just knock it past the defender and run every single time.

Sarr is good but like plenty of players what holds him back is his inflexibility, some players are genuinely world class, can shine in any system. Sarr needs a system built for him, with other threats to get the best out of him, we've rarely had a genuine pacy threat on the left side to worry the opposition, rarely had a good cohesive ball playing midfield unit that can ping good passes in behind with regularity.

Sarr will never be world class but I also don't think we've ever got the best out of him, I stand by my thought that a club as erratic as Watford was the worst possible move for him.

Liverpool win came pretty close to the "best of him" I feel. He was unstoppable that game and could and should of scored a hatrick. Although it's unfair to single him out, the whole team played above themselves that night, Deeney's ball to Sarr for the second goal was only possible due to a very alert Will Hughes keeping it in play. Sarr is a good player, but we all know he is and will always be a luxury player. Gino had £30M to burn and instead of updating an aging defense and adding a new striker - he went for the big buy. This is nothing against Sarr, it's not his fault he was bought and as we were a mid-table PL side at the time probably saw us as a viable stepping stone for a move to a "big club" later on.
