Honestly? That was some turgid carp on display under his guidance.
Personally I hope he fails big time but that's the place he's ended up joining not him as person. But it goes hand in hand now.

Or is he ? Only very short term.
Went back to Luton after he left us and played another 58 times for them, more than he played for us.
What did Luton fans sing after he went back to them ? "Used to be a scummer but he's alright now" !

I do think part of Edward’s issue was his insistence on playing 3-5-2 something which didn’t get the best out of the players. We immediately looked better when Bilic switched. Edward’s won’t have that issue at Luton as they play that system. That said he had the whole pre season and the team didn’t seem very fit and there was little spirit. He may have leant from his mistakes - hopefully not.

Was good for us, and wasn't getting into the team at the time, I'm cool with Matthew Spring

As we've established, our players not being fit seems a running theme, not necessarily an Edwards thing. He won't have a full pre-season, but he'll have a decent stretch with them during this break, probably a more sensible job for him to jump into rather than ours, I guess the only thing is that the gargoyle did such a good job with them that he's got a lot to live up to

The set up might be 352, but its pretty long diagonals from the center backs to a 6ft 14" striker. Edwards wanted to play the wingers in behind, Jones had them coming in front of the opposition defence, same system, different style.
He'll bore then to mid table obscurity and be gone next summer.

No wonder they play diagonal balls up to him if he's 6'14!

After seeing the team close up and personal at Bristol I don't think there's a manager in the World who get get a tune out of our bunch of to55ers. I think Edwards will, (unfortunately), do well at the scum.

I don’t disagree with the last part of your post here.

And yeah, some of the stuff under Edwards was poor. But equally some of the stuff under Bilic has been just as bad - and I’d wager, some of it has been worse. I have more faith in Bilic bringing short-term success. But that’s all it will be - because we all know how it ends.

With Edwards, I genuinely believed we had a manager to invest in. And I will die on the hill that he was given nowhere near enough time for a decent judgment to be made on his long-term prospects with us. I’m still angry about how it all ended for him and he’d lost a fair bit of interest in us this season as a result.

But like I said, I know that’s not a popular opinion.

So Duxbury woke up one morning with his latest bright idea, Googled ‘English managers aged below 40 who have a Level 1 media training certificate and will do and say what they’re told’, appointed the first name that popped up and six months later Luton appoint the same man as a way of proving some sort of point about us despite him proving himself to be completely out of his depth at this level and not showing any discernible coaching or managerial skills. Weirdly enough this might actually be the best thing Duxbury has done for our club in years, albeit inadvertently.

As for Edwards, have a bit of self respect, man! Obviously he owes Watford nothing but moving to a club after leaving their main rivals less than two months previously and dutifully trotting out the same bulls**t, crawling lines in your welcome interview is very sleazy and fake and is the sort of thing that will stick to his reputation for the remainder of his career and put other clubs and fans off when things inevitably go to s**t with Luton.

Thank you IBB. I'm shocked at the appalling sexist posts by your fellow female members on this forum. We men are so much more than just than a handsome face and objects of sexual fantasy. It is degrading, unsettling and upsetting to hear a fellow man be talked about in this way.

How about his inability to see when a change was needed in match time?! His subs were as sh*t as Woy's.

Not to mention he insisted on shoe-horning players into a system that didn't suit and they weren't comfortable with.

Good riddance and hopefully he carries on in the same vein for Sh*t Town.

There seemed to be a good collectiveness and atmosphere during and after the Sheff Utd and Burnley games, at least in comparison to last season and if nothing else we have to be thankful to him for engineering those wins which have put us in contention. Strange then that we got those wins against promotion favourites with a defence that seemed to be once again solid at this level, but in a mostly easy surrounding run of games we could only manage one win, a last gasp against Middlesborough, and one clean sheet.

  27. lowerrous

Not that strange - we played Burnley and Sheff Utd at home, and we've generally been an incomparably better team at home all season (same as our last Championship campaign). The most unusual result in that period was probably the QPR home game where we were all over the shop, though even then we were just a harsh linesman call away from a draw.

Concur. I bought heavily into the whole “back a young, home grown coach through hell or night water to change the culture” nonsense that Duxbury churned out over the summer.

I had high hopes for RE and have no doubt that in time with the squad he had he would have seen sense that 4 at the back would have been the way forward.

Unsurprisingly our lot were full of rubbish, but then he should have tried to put what he had into the best shape to win games. Kamara at RWB and Sema at LWB was not the solution.

I really wanted it to work out.. but it didn’t. The L*ton job isn’t a good look on anyone who isn’t a gargoyle.

Other than the games vs the prem’s high and mighty, I can’t recall watching a game where we have been more utterly outplayed. Playing against 10 men for about an hour too inc ET. We were so lucky to come through that SF.
