I'll definitely take where we are now considering how we looked and where we likely heading under Edwards. Quite thankful for the break now, the amount of injuries is becoming ridiculous now.

On the subject of injuries, some are saying Gosling requested to come off/receive treatment, before eventually getting his major injury? If true, another example of our not fit for purpose medical team in action.

All you have to do is fry the chicken, undo the lid and pour the jar into the pan and warm through

That was very very poor. Watford second to everything pretty much the whole match. Lucky that city lacked the quality to open us up and when they did, made a hash of it or we were reduced by Bachman . Pedro and Sarr coming on didn’t really improve things much either.

One to just write off I think. We’re in a good position going into the break and hopefully we can get the squad in Better shape whilst Bilic can also work more with them.

there’s been enough in improvement since Bilic came in to feel positive about a promotion push with a healthier squad and a few January additions ,

Bilic and Edwards have had their fair share of dirge. But at least Bilic has got us to click once or twice, something I can't say for Edwards.

That was a horror show today though.

Put it down to squad fatigue.

Ashton Gate is a good ground . Trying to think of some other positives today, erm, hmmm, the weather in Bristol was quite nice today .

Had a lovely walk around Bristol before the match, the match of course was unfortunately completely forgettable, no shot until 85th minute?! We were so poor. Afterwards i heard a Bristol city fan say they really enjoyed it. I felt a bit sorry for them

I was in south Essex today but it was much the same. Amazing weather for mid-November once the sun came out - usually when we get temperatures that high it’s cloudy so it doesn’t feel that warm and on the rare occasions the sun shines it’s chilly or cold.

One of their best performances apparently..

Probably just a positive reaction as they expected us to hammer them .

Fair point, but to me it looked obvious it was serious. I think we do have a bit of a reputation of being prima donnas who like to roll around, so perhaps they thought he was acting.

Got caught in the traffic at Slough . My fault for not checking on traffic beforehand.
The park and ride from Portway is banging . £3.60 return and drops you right outside
the ground . The cheese burger wasn't bad. Decent trip home , took the 404 to Wycombe
to pick up M40 then onto M25 .
    The match itself ? . Meh .

What kind of walk did you do round Bristol? Was it by the Severn?

Great place Bristol, it’s funny to think my last visit was in 2011, because it feels more recent such was the impression it made on me.

Walked from Temple Meads along the river then to up to the Cabot tower (great views today), then back along the river. Pint of cider at the Nova Scotia.

Boooo. I dared to dream today. I even told Mrs UEA a mower run was in the offing. But no, when push came to shove I wasn’t man (or sober) enough to see it through in November.

    There’s always tomorrow.

Nice. I’ve been thinking I should do some pre-match walks, even before home games, as a change from hanging around in/outside the pub or just going straight to the game. Discovered some surprisingly nice walks in Watford (never lived within a dozen miles of it) and the WD area in general, including the Ebury Way which actually runs right past the quiet end of Vicarage Road westwards to Rickmansworth Aquadrome, which looks stunning during this time of year in good weather with all that water and autumn colours. Very nice walk to that path by the River Colne through Watford (on the fringes of Bushey at one point by the railway arches).

    Words I never thought I’d post…

Kabasele, Ekong and Bachmann won us a point today. Kabasele and Ekong were time and time again having to move out of position to cover for the painfully slow Gaspar and the utterly useless Kamara but they stuck at it and kept us in the game. By the time Cathcart came on it meant we were on our third right back but still Brizzle City kept coming down Kamaras side as it was the path of least resistance. Not only is he crap, but he’s pretty thick with his decision making as well.

Hopefully during the world cup break K Davies can put some effort into getting fit. He was incredibly static today and when we all of a sudden broke 4 on 1, the move broke down because he hadn’t managed to waddle back onside yet. If Deeney was still here and put in the same performance as Davies today people would have a meltdown.

Turgid performance, fun away day with a good Watford turnout.

Maybe the "why" is that it was true what Bilic said about there being a bug going round the squad during the week? Combined with general fatigue it could well explain things.

Long day of travelling. Found a great place to park just a 10 minute walk from the ground. Day was lovely. Sun was shining and my car registered 19 degrees.

The game was a complete non event. Bristol were there for the beating but we couldn’t do it. A glimpse of life without Sarr and Pedro is a very bland prospect.

We were solid enough but Gaspar, Kabs and Kayembe are just not good enough.

Bachmann virtually nothing to do but did make one good save. He also caught an awkward looking cross very comfortably. He seems able to catch the ball well, so I don’t get why he is so transfixed to his line.

Kalu was a big disappointment. He’s a bit like Bayo. Quite effective from the bench but can’t do it from the start. Bayo actually looked bright when he came on.

Biggest highlight of the day was seeing John Ward come on at half time. He looks like an old man now, but I remember him playing which makes me feel old.

A point was the best we could have hoped for so at least we got that. Team were booed off at half time, which is unusual for the away crowd. But it was a good turn out from Watford and generally I found Bristol a friendly place to watch football.

    The game was awful.
The weather was very nice and my 10yr old son has yet to experience a Watford loss in the 8 games that we have come over to watch. Even he thought that the only good thing was the weather.

Bachmann. Made a great save. Watched a ball one yd out from his line in the first half, but still didn't come his line to claim it. He wasn't really troubled .
Gaspar. A right back or even further back. Offers nothing going forwardhe
WTE. He actually played well for a change
Kabasele. Not a bad game, but why the needless pushing their players over. They were going nowhere, but gained a free kick due to his fouling. Looked knackered.
Kamara. have read that he has been poor lately and make no mistake, he was dreadful. Constantly getting shutdown due delaying his pass and waving his arms around, moaning at other players. At one point WTE gave him a right bollocking. Very poor
Gosling. Ran around as use to do at Bournemouth. Looked better at right back. At least he tries. Painful injury.
Choudhury. Does what it says on the tin. He needs a creative player next to him.
Kayembe. What can l say about our Belgium 2nd Division player?
He was due to be released from his contract till we stepped in and paid £4m.
He kills the game going forward for Watford. He is not capable of receiving the ball and looking forward. Sidewards and backwards, slows the play down. No threat to any side.
Sema. I think Ken has had a good season so far. Look off it today and tired. Overnight the corners too often.
Kalu. Watford's oldest player. Got his chance today, but looked lost. Give him 10/15mins as a sub. That's about it.
Davis. Huffed and puffed, no service and isolated upfront.

Sarr and Pedro.. Both came on and things did change a little. This was only due to Bristol City using two men to mark them when they had the ball.
Not sure what is up with Sarr, he doesn't appear to have any desire to make an effort. Perhaps the shop window of the World Cup will get him a move or inspire him to return with a fresh outlook.

Disappointing to see just one player (Kamara) come to the fans after the game. Some players clapped from a distance, some just headed for the tunnel.
Given the number of away fans attending the game and that we are going into a 4/5 week break it was a poor show.
Still, a nice day out, on a sunny day

Yep. Given where we were a good base to build from. Odd league though. Burnley and Sheff Utd a fair bit ahead look good but prone to bad results. Feels like WBA, Boro and Coventry might finish like a train post World Cup. Wouldn’t be surprised if someone 50-1 right now wins the division.

I have a particular affection for the Still Double Album as it was an Xmas present from my musically astute older brother and sent me in a musical direction I will never return from. The opening track 'Exercise One' still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I listen to it. How the genius Martin Hannett achieved those opening sounds leaves me with a pure sense of wonder.
