I guess they are hoping Newcastle or another team don't come back with an offer over 30/35 million. As for Sarr - well be nice if he was just fit for us!
I think he'll need to truly tear the league a new one this year if we're hoping for £30m+ bids next summer. Don't think 15 G/A-ish will cut it
The Pozzos don't normally do release clauses do they? They normally try to extract peak value for players, and are so stubborn (alongside other things) that they fail to do so, only really Richarlison and arguably Lukebakio would fit this bill properly
Bloody love him. Even when we’re s*** and lose he’ll provide at least one moment of joy. I hope (but don’t expect!) he stays forever.
Has the ball on a string at times even when it's 5yds away from him with an opponent in between. Class.
Thought in the first 10/15 mins or so his touch was a bit heavy and his passing was a little bit suspect but he quickly vanquished any of my doubts. His radar below shows his stats from yesterdays game alone and shows how utterly utterly unplayable he was.
Just some nobody at Real Madrid called Vinícius Júnior. (worth remembering though that the JP radar above was literally a sample size of 1 game - JPs radar for the season as a whole is more underwhelming (although is still pretty decent):
I do feel his radar is very underwhelming in comparison to his overall performances. I wonder why (and whether the radar could be altered by Statsbomb to reflect what were seeing and it’s not showing). I think maybe volume of possession and xGchain/xGBuildup would both be metrics he’d do really well in. I’d imagine he’s also the best in the air out of the league’s attacking midfielders/wingers.
You can create your own templates inside of Statsbomb if you prefer to look for certain things in some positions, had a little mess-around and created this which shows those:
Glad that he's got himself a headed goal, he's deceptively tall and showed in his Fluminense days that he can be a threat in the air. He's already brilliant but if he can add double figure goals to his game this season then we really should be asking for stupid money in the summer.
I have no doubt he will be in double figures for goals and assists. Depends on promotion whether he stays or goes imo. He looks like he's settled and really showing his worth on and off the pitch.
Very similar as a player to Rooney. Doesn't necessarily excel at any one part of the game, but has the ability to do nearly everything. Will be interesting to see how he does if Bilic does drop him deeper on Wednesday
"What percentage of a player's completed passes into the box are crosses. " - it's generally believed that crossing is bad as it creates harder chances. Personally I don't really believe that crossing is bad, I think it depends a lot on who's crossing it, who's likely to be on the end of it and the general positions of the defence as to whether a cross is the right option or not.
Despite supposedly being several levels above all of his teammates and opponents he doesn't exactly show it, you can see he is technically talented but that rarely converts into objective contribution and there are many games where he does very little. Maybe you can blame his teammates to an extent but other worse teams in the league have #10s with similar contributions - for all the talk of him being the most talented to ever grace the Championship, is he even near the level of a Taarabt for example when he was at QPR? No chance. He looks like a great Championship player but not much more than that, and I have my doubts over whether he would be a key player at any teams in the Prem. Based on how this season is going so far for him (6 goals and 2 assists in 18 games) it doesn't seem likely that we will collect near the rumoured 30m we were offered for him in the summer.
He seemed to find a regular position behind the striker with license to roam where he thinks best to impact the game where he was more effective creating and scoring chances. The only reason he's at 6 goals / 2 assists is due to him being played in midfield than a No. 10 because every single midfielder is injured who can make a forward pass about 10 or so games before the break and he's being forced to play deep away from goal to try and provide some kind of forward passing from deep. When he wasn't playing CM he was able to either get on the end of chances or create them more reliably. We would be dead in the water without him and the fact he can adapt his game the way he has already speaks volumes of his versatility and ability.
He is a good player with poor team mates. He and to a lesser extent Sarr need to leave our shambolic club as soon as they can or their careers will suffer. There is no poorer owner to play for than Pozzo.
Agree with this . He came back into the side as Louza got injured and as a result spends a lot of time dropping deep to pick up the ball . If he was able to play more around the penalty area I’m sure he would be getting more goals and assists .
The fact he had to play defensive midfield and was still our most dangerous attacker says it’s all. Or maybe shows how ineffective others were ?
You don't think we'll get offered £30m again now that he's on a longer deal and on course for his best scoring season?
Sheer class today among a sea of dross. He was toying with the Terriers players several times. Impresionante.
