My late, lamented brother Laurence always used to quote it!

He was no sportsman but did " work at his bowling" according to my Father.

All things considered I would say that's all the proof one needs!

Footnote; I've just checked and it's totally fona bide!

Well, we didn't fold but I can't say we were over-impressive against a team in a bad run of form. We were certainly the better side but could eadily have blown it with Wigan's last kick of the match.

Yeah, the problem today was that pretty much all of the crosses in to him were either overhit or cut out by one of their 3 CBs.

How did we do ? Good performance ? Who stood out ? How were Asprilla, Pedro and Sarr in terms of their performances ? Thanks. Was out in London again.

Woo we won and in a plot twist Kalu might actually be useful! That dribble past like four Wigan defenders was delightful.

It was a poor match but a great result. Reminiscent of so many games two seasons ago, when I think we won 10 matches 1-0. Sarr perhaps could have scored and it would have been a lot more comfortable.

Nobody really. Sierralta won nearly every header and looked his old self.

Kalu changed the dynamic of the game after he came on

Except the various ones that’s floated over his head and presented possession to Wigan you mean? I think Troost had a better game in the air than him.

Yeah he wasn't perfect but I felt he gave Keane hardly anything in the air. You're right though Ekong was probably better, actually looking very assured

You need that when you've been in Luton. Standard wear for visitors.

You're not going to win many aerial duels with Sierralta, he's a monster in the air. However, he's now 25 and still so rough around the edges. His technical ability is so poor and his positional awareness is baffling at times. He'll get too tight and get turned or caught under the ball at least three or four times a game. You can see why he didn't play much in the PL, he's just not up to it like many of our squad.

Bilic was a very good centre back though so hopefully he can work with Sierralta during the upcoming break to sharpen him up in some areas.

Oh my knowledge of military equipment is yet another example of the gaps in my education!
In my defence it is rarely necessary on the tennis court, nor does it appear so far in Ancient Greek translations.
    However you never know!

I think the problem with Bayo is that despite being quite a big lad, he's nowhere near as good in the air as he should be, he's fluffed a few good headed chances already

The plot twist is that as soon as Kalu shows that he might actually be useful he probably ends up injured for the next few months.

I read a couple of weeks ago that Bilic likes him and the energy he brings, and let’s be honest he came on and within a few mins was running at and around the defence like a man possessed , wonder if Bilic is hoping Sarr might watch him and learn a thing or two, he has half of Sarr’s speed, is twice his age (probably not) but has all the confidence Sarr lacks

A win's a win. Doesn't matter how, especially away from home!

Players coming back, back-to-back wins, back-to-back clean sheets, moving up the table and back above the Shatters.

    It'll do nicely thanks.

Cardiff next, another winnable game on a better playing surface + big KD7 should be back as well.

    Love Slav, hate Gino!

We played ok . Looked fairly solid . Had decent possession but didn’t create enough . Too many aimless balls into the box that weren’t gonna trouble Wigan. Still a big improvement on Blackpool and millwall though and the fact we were still in it with a few mins to go made all the difference.

We missed Davis and his hold up play but thought Bayo did a half decent job .

the Wigan commentary was a bit annoying and biased. Apparently they created a hatful of half chances in the first half and were well on top . Not what i was watching !

Great to get two Consecutive wins though . Let’s hope we can put a run together now .

Great to win away today, even if we didn't play as well as we did last week. Family round this afternoon for my dads birthday and he walks in and asks if we are losing yet. Refresh twitter and the Pedro goal comes through on 87 minutes. The smile on his face when I told him we had scored was why all of the crap is sometimes worth it. Its always a great weekend when we win. Enjoy guys

You make a valid point - as a CB you focus on being a mean man mountain... Head to the ball first, tackle strong, win every 50/50 let them know.... Sieralta tends to be too concerned with giving them hassle off the ball and if he can correct this problem he's got great potential (like 18 months ago...)
