Seems a bit long to me. LPoA health and finance for both folks were processed in about 6 weeks, although these were fairly straight forward. Think the govt. suggest up to 20 weeks.

Just hate Day Time TV…sport fine, rest of the drivel and associated adverts, awful[/QUOTE]
You're joking! Daytime TV is superior in every way to prime time tele. Antiques Road Trip, Flog It, Doctors, Escape to the country, Bargain Hunt... and, of course, endless reruns of the Sweeney and Minder on ITV. On the rare occasions I have something to do during the day I record some programmes to watch in the evening.

I think I caught a clip of that. The interviewer says that her Dad’s reply was that he was a strict father. Scott replies, with tears, that whipping someone with a leather belt is beyond strict.

I refuse to go paper-free on the basis that my bank will incur some cost printing and sending me a statement every month. Tragic, I know, but it makes me feel I'm punishing them for their general sh1tness

I’ve got a problem with a badly designed app which would have been avoided if I had a paper bill.

Had to do a proof of ID thing for a mortgage meeting, post a pic of driving license, take a selfie etc and upload it to an app which also wanted a picture of a utility bill. You can’t upload a pdf or screenshot though, you have to to a photo using the app. I’m 30 for ****s sake, I haven’t handled a physical sheet of paper since secondary school.

So I had to get my laptop out, log in to my energy provider, wait in a queue for 10 minutes because of people trying to change their tariff and try to get a photo of my last bill without those blurry lines you get when you photograph a screen.

Did I HATE the experience? Yes I think I did.

I'm not saying it's right, but perhaps he should have focused more on her swallowed vowels, her cutting out of entire syllables and her awful annunciation generally.

I've basically bought that exact briki but in orange to work on my induction hob. Now, not only am I enjoying coffee far more, I'm also wired as all **** all the time!

I went to a place recently on the coast that was a café serving out of a converted trawler boat. Picturesque it was. They sold crab rolls and lobster rolls. Very expensive. Way, way expensive. But I decided to have a crab one. I like crab.

As options, there was seaweed butter and seaweed sauce and being in the seaside spirit I decided to have both.

People asked me afterwards what it was like. Looking back, I don't know what I was really expecting seaweed to taste like.

Well, you know that slimy green stuff with bobbles all over that hangs on rocks on the beach? If you can imagine picking a bit of that up and sucking it, that's what it tasted like.

Fackin' rank. Like rotten fish. Awful. I had to chuck over half of my expensive roll away.

    I could have cried.

Sadly, the clue is that there is tons of the stuff the locals are not eating. Shame, because samphire, for example, which grows around tide line is lovely.

Nice cafe at Orford Ness that does crab and lobster when in season.

What the government says is very different from the current reality.

It's all going online soon though.

Yes, 20 weeks quoted. It's been 18 weeks since they acknowledged receipt. They say that they will write to all parties once it's been checked, and then are obliged to wait 4 weeks before making it active. So even if they send notification this week, it will be another month before it comes into effect, which will be 6 and a half months since I sent the forms.
And of course, there is still time to find something wrong with the application so who knows how long that will take...

This is the other side of previous posters complaining about not being able to get paper bills etc.
Everyone is being forced into going paperless, yet when you want to do anything new they ask for paper proof that is less than 6 months old.
I fully agree with your frustrations.

Not much to get wrong really. Also long as the fee is paid and everything is signed dated and witnessed.
I've not invoked mine yet as both folks are still of soundish mind, but to have it as a backup is essential. I'm considering setting one up for myself, should I get run over by a bus etc.

  25. Keighley

Not true. Mrs Keighley's father's LPA was rejected on the basis that the wording used to express how decisions would be made was 'unworkable'. The wording was drawn up by a qualified lawyer (albeit, not in this field); and both she and I are qualified lawyers ourselves - and neither of us could not work out from the OPG's response what the problem with the wording was supposed to be.

We went through Mother’s building society legal people, it did cost a bit more, but it’s the way she wished it, took a couple of months - both health & finance…

Did you/they not use the forms? The decision making process is just selecting who makes the decisions and whether they can on their own or as a group if more than one nominated? Shouldn't need a solicitor to draw up anything. I managed it and I'm thick as mince.:p

  30. Keighley

    Keighley First Team

Yes, they used the forms. So far as we could see, it had something to do with the inclusion of Mrs Keighley”s mother as one of the attorneys when she herself was also applying for a LPA. Had it been just Mrs Keighley and my brother in law, I guess it would have been OK.

I've just heard that the Asian Winter Games has been awarded to Saudi Arabia. Hasn't the Qatar World Cup been sufficient warning?

yes, awarding this to Saudi Arabia is a slippery slope.

I just had to look this up because I thought you were joking, but they're going to build a brand new city to host it... it's always money behind this kind of lunacy isn't it?
