Edwards was ****. Out of his depth. Bad choice appointing him. But I would rather they get rid of him now rather then wait and destroy any chance we have of going up.

It's not great, i'm not happy, but it's the correct call in the situation we find ourselves in

A lot of people saying Gino should sell the club. No one would buy a small town club with our debt levels. We owe Gino alone £75m, if he wanted the money back the club would go into administration and some of our £50-75m external debt is secured against the stadium.

The only realistic way forward is for Gino and Mogi to move to offices in London or overseas (panama city perhaps?) and appoint a CEO capable of running a football club who has a transfer budget and decides on the players we sign with the manager. Gino can put forward players from his 'network' ie Mogi, Colombia and Rio de Janeiro but the manager must have the right to reject them and he must be provided with the players to fit his formation. It was insane that Rob was forced to lie about his involvement in transfers rather than being given the players he wanted.

The key key thing is that Gino and Scott should no longer be involved in the day to day running of the club. They are a couple of wronguns who have created a toxic culture of failure at the club. Gino needs the club as a platform for his player trading but ultimately WFC is his side hustle and he doesnt need to play a central role. He just needs WFC as a platform to sign players.

I dont mind having a dodgy owner as long as that person isnt having a negative impact on the club which is clearly the case now with Gino. Gino should stick to his wheeler dealing and questionable financial transactions and appoint a CEO capable of running the club. I dont want North Korean style murals or statues or special claps. I want the fabric of the club to be built on honesty, integrity, sincerity and authenticity. We are so so so far from that right now and we cant let some dodgy spoilt rich kid destroy our club.

    I hope he doesn't.

I want them all gone, yesterday.

But Gino isn't going anywhere until we're back in the top flight and they can sell for a decent price. The best we can hope for at the moment is Duxbury going and Papa bringing in someone half decent to protect the family investment.

Thought it at the time it was yet again another wrong appointment and I think he proved to be well and truly out of his depth. I am not too disappointed to see Edwards go but sick of the same old routine.

The worst thing about his sacking is the thought of that forest green owner teat being happy about it.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been gradually working through the wonderful book on 100 years of Vicarage Road and it’s brought flooding back so many joyous memories, particularly of both GT eras but others too. It’s made me realise how connected to the club I felt in those times, but now, even before today’s events, it’s faded to almost nothing. I still have a season ticket, but missing some games is not as big a deal any more as it used to be - it really feels like just a habit now. Mrs Willis and I used to go to a good number of away games too, but this season we’ve only been to one and we might make another before Christmas but that’s all. We can’t work up the enthusiasm at the moment. What has happened to our club? It’s so sad.

Brilliant it's now been confirmed. Gino Pozzo is our very own Massimo Cellino.

Professional football is a rather special type of entertainment.
WFC have found that they are no longer capable of entertaining on the pitch so they decide to do it off the pitch. Think of the manhours spent posting just on this website, let alone all the others.
    Well, are you not entertained?

It is never pleasing to hear that someone has lost their job.
I hedged my bet that he would be gone by the end of the International break.

It appears that Gino or Watford claimed the DoF had gone, but he was just out of the way while they sacked Edwards.
Underhand, but in-keeping with the Gino Way.
I said that Gino would be going through his contacts list after the continued dire performances Talking of training ground unrest didn't help Edwards.
Perhaps it was just a step too far for him and he wasn't helped by a terrible squad of players. Many should have been released in the summer.
How much power Bayat and DoF have is now obvious.

We have two seasons to gain promotion at best. If not, it's into administration for us. Gino's statement rings of concern.
I do not agree with him. The squad is bloody awful. One of our worst collection of players since our 'lost years' after Taylor had left first time round.

Good luck to Edwards in the future.
Don't bet against him turning up at FGR real soon. Dale Vince is always changing his mind .

Hire manager due to his successful 352 style, with a squad suited to 433
Buy/ loan players that suit 433
Sack manager and bring in someone used to playing 433.

It's not madness to want to change managers, as Edwards clearly wasn't the finished product. It's not madness to bring in Bilic, who knows what it takes to get promotion.

But it's madness that we even went through this whole farce in the first place.

    And repeat.

In sole charge for 2 whole games, the second one being a home draw against a struggling Brighton. Gino wasn't happy about the overtly defensive set-up of the team, realised he made a mistake, and asked him if he would step down back to his coaching role. He refused and was sacked. These were in the days when Pozzo Junior made very few mistakes. How times have changed.

I'm shocked and outraged that this wasn't used in the club statement. Standards have really dropped.

I definitely think a lot won’t be sad Edwards has gone tbh .

But the way it’s been done isn’t great but then the Pozzos won’t care will they if Bilic gets us promoted and if he doesn’t they will just move onto someone else .

We’re an absolute shambles of a club. From top to bottom, there’s nothing to even like about us.

If there’s no time to build something, why hire him in the first place?

    What’s the point anymore?

Disappointed, i usually make a killing with the bookies on backing Watford to be the next club to sack their manager. But just didn’t see this one happening for some reason

Who knows? Probably just speculation. It would make sense, though, if SD is done with Watford. There aren't many suitable jobs for an ex-CEO in England. Bet he fires Rooney and hires Jay DeMerit!

I would have DeMerit back at this club in a heartbeat. One of my fave ex-players alongside Richard Johnson and Helgusson. No nonsense footballer who did his talking on the pitch and left it there.

Hope not for their sake, DeMerit has got incredibly annoying to the point I had to unfollow him - just constantly boosting crypto/NFT bullshyt these days, when he's not having very public puke-making unorthodox familial relationships.

We need promotion within two seasons.
We are broke and failure to return to the Premier league or attract a multi-millionaire to buy the club will result in the club going into administration.

Then you will get what you deserve. The endless crap cycle of our club with no players or coaches to build anything, just another quick fix after another in the desperate pursuit of a quick, 5 game bounce,

Ludicrous decision and makes the club look like a laughing stock. Constant change is no longer working and I for one was thankful for the apparent change in direction meaning a young coach would be given time (McKenna at Ipswich didn’t hit the ground running last season, but now is doing well). Yet I come on here, for the first time in ages, to see various geniuses had already decided after 11 games that RE was “out of his depth”, so maybe we get what we deserve.

Yeah, that wouldnt happen. We would end up with a Gino yes man.

I'm not sure I would agree that RE was the wrong appointment necessarily. I think the real issue is that Gino and Duxberry clearly have two very different ideas about how to take the club forward. Two summers running Duxburry has talked about taking a longer term more youthful approach (or the Norwich model as it was during our last prem season) and rebuilding while Gino seems to want results straight away that see us re-established back in the premier league. The only thing risky about RE appointment was that he wasnt Gino's man, the writting was on the wall ever since Duxberry let slip he had to persuade Gino to hire RE in the first place.

If Gino was serious about rebuilding the playing squad and the long term culture around it then it was always going to take longer then 10 games. Especially given the large number of players that have either left or come in and then theres been the usual collection of injuries including Sarr (who wasnt even supposed to be here anymore and we had to accommodate again and consequently scrapping a system we had spent so much of preseason learning to play) who only seems to be fit every second or third game. We sold Cucho and Zinc who would have made a massive difference to us this season and replaced them two conference players in Bayo and Manaj. And we were only 1 point off he playoffs with 3 quarters of the season still to play so its not like we are hugely cut adrift! If anything the players where very much with RE, as was most of the fan base.

We wouldnt have had much of a squad left thats for sure. It would be highly unlikely that we would be in a position to buy Hause, Davies or HC. Kamara would have gone to Udinese leaving us without either a LB or RB and Sarr/Pedro would finally leave. It would be league one football the season after.

Does sound like something has gone on behind he scenes and it wouldnt be the first time that the DOF has fallen out with the head coach after interfering on the training ground.

Completely agree and its not like performances were that bad or the league situation was totally beyond saving.

Lets be honest, Edwards hasn't been sacked because of how we have played. Gino is trigger-happy but this is quick by his own standards! If it truly was purely about what's happening on the pitch as the statement suggests, I firmly believe he'd have been given until the WC winter shutdown given its not far off.

I'm convinced this is about the amount of power that Edwards wanted off the pitch to shape the club. It's obviously made Gino uneasy and his ego couldn't take it. Bringing back Giaretta was him asserting his power, no doubt about it. And the fall out of that decision has seen Edwards go.
