I think Bachmans good form is probably down to not having the oppresive presence of Foster there in training every day. Must have been a nightmare to work with.

I didn't realise it was deflected. Understand him not catching it now, but it's still fair criticism to not punch it or tip it back over bar than fail a risky catch in the 6 yard box.

It was one of those where the deflection spooned it up in the air a bit more and slowed the ball quite a bit. I agree he didn't cover himself in glory though!

The positives outweigh the negatives by far. I even believe he's controlling the penalty area better now. As a shot stopper he is excellent with very good handling. His distribution needs work though but it will improve. Can't not be happy for the fella.

I'm happy for us in that a guy who is paid lots of money is doing his job well.

But there's plenty out there earning lots more that aren't doing it for their clubs.

Do he really say we are the Man City of the Championship in a Pre match interview to Austrian press as suggested in the shoutbox on Tuesday?

I guess the club cannot control daft statements made by players outside of the club media channels if true.

You'd think a pretty basic skill for a goalkeeper would be to kick a ball properly. Our Dan manages to slice it left and right or spoons it up in the air. Utterly appalling distribution today, after his decent start to the season Rob must be thinking about giving Hamer a go. We're not that bad that we need to give Okoye a go just yet.

Disagree Bachmann has bad distribution. At least he hits it cleanly and gets distance on it. Foster sliced it more than into danger every game last Season. Bachmann at least I don't dread the ball at his feet.

I'm not sure he hit it cleanly once today!

Didn't really get a mention amongst the calamity from Pollock in front of him, but Jesus, he left basically an open goal for their first goal

I disagree when you watch from the angle behind the goal he's protecting his near post, he didn't really stand a chance with the shot.

Really don’t rate him but can’t see he had much choice but to move to close down the near post there and hope Troost could shepherd their striker that way. The early shot was instinctive more than taking advantage of a big gap caused by a goalkeeping error I’d say.

He's a poor keeper. Good reflexes but that's about it. Doesn't come for a cross, can't kick, doesn't dominate his area. He's not even making those saves anymore. We need much better than him, but the backups are even worse. The keeper position is a huge problem for us.

I don't think he would of stopped the shot, but he should of been positioned much better than he was.

For the cross and tap-in he was also positioned far to close to the post. If you look at the point the cross was made his body was outside the line of the post with leaving only a stretched leg to block the cross.

Both times he was far too protecting of his near post leaving the ball across him totally unprotected.

Not singling him out as the reasons for the goals, just saying he was as much too blame as all the others.

Would rather give the nigerian chap a chance. He can't be any worse, can he?

Bachmann is gash and Okoye is double gash. I haven't seen Hamer for a couple of years but he used to be gash. So we're looking good in the keeper department, good work Pozzo.

Agreed. It was a tidy finish no doubt ,however I am not a fan of Bachman. He is a good shot stopper I would even go as far as to say a 7.5 to 8 out of 10 on that front. But coming for crosses and commanding his area as well as other attributes he is no more than 4.5 to 5 out of 10. I would rather a GK who is a solid 6-7 out of 10 E/W on all the aspects of a GK

Which is a damning statement if true , that we don't have a 6/10 GK on the books .

Depends what you mean by 6/10. A great League one keeper might be 8/10 in league one but 6/10 in the champ and 4/10 in the prem. I suspect Bachmann is at best an average champ standard keeper and the other two can't displace him so are worse.

That was the one area where had things sorted, the model was perfect, get an old pro who has played for a top level team but was in his mid thirties, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, without that model we wouldn’t even have had the Deeney moment. Instead Gino decided he’d extend his terrible scouting methods to that area of the team and ruin that as well.

I'm increasingly sure dropping Bachmann for Okoye will see an upturn in form. We aren't losing because of Bachmann, but he's not helping us win games now either with his known weaknesses coming to the fore regularly. Okoye is worse with his control and passing than Bachmann is, but how often have we clamoured for a keeper to come for the ball in the air which Bachmann shirks? Both have their faults but the other is 5 years younger and demonstrated they can handle a physical league. A confident goalkeeper is the basis for a confident backline and Bachmann does not inspire this now.

If he was anything other than a nervous wreck at crosses he'd be an amazing keeper.

Talks such a good game but ultimately he's got to be the one taking the pressure off the defence

That was Cardiff's first goal from a corner all season, so it's not exactly a strength of theirs! Obviously WTE will take the lion's share of the blame for the goal, but Bachmann certainly didn't cover himself in glory at all

I’ve never seen a keeper so timid when the ball is in the air. Not even in the days of Digweed and Suckling. Decent shot stopper but a complete wimp.
