I think this article warrants its own thread. An excellent read.

It encapsulates what we've faced, we're facing and will continue to face. And what needs to change.

I can't remember which poster to credit for this, it doesn't really matter, but we've reached a point where we have to demand 'our' Watford back. A team who in each and every game leave everything on the pitch come the end of a game.

That's not too much to ask, is it?

Posted this in the Blackburn thread, I agree that it was a good read and a slight departure from his recent stuff (not exactly fiercely critical of Pozzo, but very realistic about the overall quality of the squad, and who is responsible for that?). Not really in agreement with his tactical musings, but he readily admits he is no professional in that regard (much like myself then!)

Fair enough H-D. I thought the tactical musings were food for thought. I also have a Cup Winners medal from when I was a Cub with the (27th?) Oxhey something or other outfit. I know my footballing o'nions, I do...

Yeah. In the prediction league I've gone for a big Watford win hoping Tuesday was the kick in the ass they needed. It'll either be that or insipid again and we'll know where the seasons going.

Excellent peice. Not sure I agree with playing WTE but I suppose we need to try something. At least he tries.

I pretty much agree with everything. There's no point continuing to have the managerial revolving door. Edwards should be savvy enough to make some changes to formation and tactics to get the best out of the players. If he doesn't then he's not the right man for the job. Saying that I have no confidence that the ownership will be able to recruit the right person for the job either, so we may as well give him the season at the least.

A mid to lower table finish may well kick start the much needed ownership changes as a relegation doesn't appear to have been enough of a prod.

I thought his reasoning for picking WTE was interesting, saying that Kabasele's brain must be fried after a tough run of form, which rather begs the question what the hell happened to WTE!

You say about making changes to tactics and formations, but if anything, you could say he's been changing formations too much as we've gone from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2 and also a 4-2-3-1 with not an awful lot of consistency, yet nothing has really worked, but unfortunately with a largely very mediocre team to work with at the moment, I'm not convinced anyone else would do a better job

Would be lovely if the Pozzos finally saw the light at the end of the season, even if it meant we had to stomach a lowly finish, but unfortunately I do believe that if we don't go up this season, we're going to be so ****ed financially we have to sell anyone with any talent just to get by, and we'll be back where we were pre-Pozzo

Would we be more attractive to a potential buyer finishing mid/lower table? We'd certainly lose Sarr, Pedro, Kamara and Louza over next Summer and I guess we'd also have to cut back even further to keep the books balanced? Could easily end up in a situation where we'd be fighting a relegation battle next season.

I certainly think this is the beginning of the end for us. We’ll be back to being a middling championship team in the next couple of season whether Gino is in charge or not, so for many I think it would he better if the club wasn’t run like a sweatshop if the ultimate result is going to be the same.

We'd certainly be cheaper. Depends on the pocket depth of potential buyer pool I suppose.
I think we'll probably be losing these players anyway tbh It's a micracle we still have them. If we don't get promoted they'll definately want out and if we do go up it'll be because of excellent performances from them and they'll be snapped up by richer clubs.

The quality of the stadium (thanks due to Pozzos), location and fanbase size is pretty fixed. As is our potential ceiling (Mid premiership at best imho). If we drop a bit temporarilly it may actually make us a more attractive prospect (cheaper) for purchase although saying that there are very few people buying clubs at the moment that I'd actually be happy with owning WFC.

I think we need to keep our fingers crossed that our current owners that have done an awful lot of good for the club are able to take a step back from the day to day running and let the football brains manage the football. A big part of that withdrawal is ending the association with a Mr. M. Bayat.

It's certainly a miracle we still have JP, but for the good work Sarr does, I do wonder if we'd have been better of getting £25m for him and reinvesting some of that? (Knowing the owners and knowing Mogi Bayat...probably not!)

I think the only way we end the association with Bayat, is if this pending court case goes against him. From the recent posting on Twitter he's intrinsically tied to us through various companies so highly unlikely he's going anywhere IMHO

Wish we had sold them both.

Would just have gone into the black hole. No matter how much we raised the only fee paid was to furnish the Bayat brothers. Next year is going to be a disaster. Bottom 5 squad.

Well we did our best to sell him I guess but I doubt we would have spent anymore money .

Afterall it was decided we didn’t really need a right wingback as Ngakia was the answer ..

We're going to have a lot of work to do with the departures of Sarr, JP and Kamara, but on the plus side, Cathcart and Cleverley are only contracted until next year
