Sounds like Murray played ok but as expected Berrettini was too strong.

Disappointing for Draper against double K.

Was well set to take the 3rd set but suffered a muscle injury and had to retire mid match.

Karen is a very physical player so being able to withstand that over two weeks will take Draper time to adjust.

I didn't see either match as we had a Nationals 40s QF at Ealing but MB probably hit too many aces for AM to get a foot hold. No disgrace losing to him.

Serena on now in her party dress!

She must be heading to a Strictly audition!

Is that it for Serena ?

    I don't think so.
She'll be encouraged by how she competed and pushed AT throughout the match.
Neither Venus nor Serena have ever played a full schedule so she maybe 40 in real terms but in terms of tennis she's probably about 35.

I doubt she'll play the clay court swing but I wouldn't be surprised to see her at the others.

When might Hoddesdon Cricket Club replace the net curtains that they believe are a sufficient barrier to preventing cricket balls leaving their premises?

Today a ball sailed over the head of Maya, aged 8 and hit Gavin ( aged approximately 50) on the left arm.

Sooner rather than later someone will be killed.

I've collected 6 cricket balls since April that have found their way onto the tennis club grounds.

Negligence and if they won't act then the tennis club needs to.

Governance as feeble as the netting.

Norrie beats the boy band member Rune.
    Evans loses to Cillic.
Rafa looking in good form, Medivet too.

Is Kyrgios heading to another final ?

    Beats the defending Champion.

    Another Russian next in KK.

    Lord I hope not!
    He'll beat Karen I think.
    Garcia going strong.

Looks like the end for Norrie .

    Beaten pretty convincingly.

Nadal beaten by home favourite Tiafoe.

The tournament seems to be wide open now?

When Ruble is on he's really on,just smacks the ball "hard, harder, hardest".
I didn't see the game but Henman said Norrie's backhand, usually his best shot, was failing.

Rafa looked way off it last night.

    Injuries, pregnant wife.

Who knows when and if he'll return.

Alcaraz strong favourite for me, probably before Medivet lost.

Berrettini beaten in 3 by Casper Ruud who I believe could become World Number 1?!

Wasn't much of a contest for the first 2 sets but Berrettini had a 5-2 lead in the 3rd and blew it.

    I'd still go with Alcaraz.
    Karen beats Kyrgios.
    Garcia and Jabeur through.

What a run Garcia is having in the past few weeks.

Heard that Kyrgios took his defeat in the usual manner - with an angry reaction and smashing rackets around!

Won through in 5 sets .

Sinner blew his chance serving for the match .

Given the lack of sport this weekend everyone come down to Hazelwood at 12pm Saturday for our title clinching victory over those flimsy Jimmies of Elliswick.
    Banana bread on offer.

Yes Ram and Salisbury squeaked through,Skupski and Kool and the Gang more convincingly.
Louis Cayer looking as if his child is imminent.

    Ruud v Alcaraz final .

Winner to become World Number one.

If it’s Alcaraz be the youngest ever I think ?

Alcaraz becomes the youngest World Number One - quite a feat given the players who have played the game,

Like Jabeur Ruud beaten in 2 Grand Slam finals this year.

    Alcatraz is extraordinary.
So good everywhere on the court and on most surfaces.
The Babolat team will be delighted, the passing of the baton from Rafa to Carlos!

GB lose to USA in Glasgow.
Mr IBB left at 3.30am yesterday morning to drive there, showing age doesn't necessarily give wisdom!
Evans lost to Paul, Norrie beat Baby Fritz and Salisbury and Murray (A) lost 5 in the third to Ram and Sock.
The match finished in the early hours.
    Ridiculous.
They've changed the Davis Cup format and started at 4pm.
This has devalued the competition in my view.

    Very few!
Smith between the Scylla and Charybdis in selecting Murray rather than Skupski I suppose, especially with a home crowd watching Murray.
Federer announces his retirement, hardly a surprise.
A man who in his early years struggled with his temperament but mastered every aspect of the game.
Graceful, strong, elegant and winner of all major tournaments, albeit fortunately at Roland Garros.
    He will be missed.
The legions of genuflecting ninnies who cheered every time he hit a shot, even the shanks into the "Green Lung" of Paris when trying to defeat Rafa at RG,will not be.

He made me a tennis fan. With him gone my interest in the sport instantly diminishes.

Inevitable but sad, especially as it seemed he was gearing up for one final comeback.

    Definitely in the top four.
Probably the easiest on the eye for grace and all round shot making.
A far cry from Medivet and Norrie who are mechanical by comparison.
    However it takes all sorts.

GB lose again in the DC, again in the doubles and questions will be asked of Leon Smith for selecting Andy Murray with Joe Salisbury and not Neill Skupski with Salisbury.

Played two lost two and no way of qualifying I think.

Alcaraz plays but loses to Felix AA.

Sounds like they gave Murray a match or two as he turned up but wasn’t the right decision.
