Hi everyone When was the last time we scored a last minute winner Some I can think of! Wilf Rostron home to Villa Xmas @1982 Gary Porter home to Tranmere (John Aldridge rumpus) Troy Deeney home to Leicester say no more Away to Ipswich was it Chalobah, Zolas promotion season ??? Masina away to Cardiff Richarlison away to Swansea, if it wasn’t last minute it was pretty close Must be a few more!
Clark Carlisle Derby away, Boothroyd promotion season, I am sure was in stoppage time. Sent from my VOG-L29 using Tapatalk
I remember some great ones. Wilf Rostron against Villa, Luther against Birmingham, Jono against GT’s Wolves, Lee Nogan against Southend, Hendo against Southampton, Porter against Bolton. Deeney two against Villa (as already mentioned). But it usually goes against us. That list would be massive.
Steve Palmer at York - so late it was after the classified results and was only reported in the Sunday papers. and one that felt like a winner, Gary Penrice equalising at Bassett’s Sheffield Utd in the FA Cup
Going back a bit remember Craig Ramage getting one in a New Years game v Port Vale in a 3-2 win and Dominic Foley in a game v Barnsley about 2001.
I think the Gary Porter one was actually part of a hat-trick and a total of 4 goals in the last 18 minutes to overtake Bolton 4 - 3!
Jono v Wolves remember seeing Kevin Keen (not in squad) and his Dad Mike sitting in the stands afterwards looking absolutely shell shocked, Nogan v Southend went with a Southend supporter who said before the game he hoped there would be some goals, as soon as it went in I reminded him haha!
Charlie Livesey in, I think, an FA Cup replay against (again I think) Oldham. He beat about 4 players, one after another and crashed it into roof of the net from a tight angle. But it's a long time ago.
I loved that Penrice goal. Stuart Hall described our celebrations as disgusting on the radio but he should know, the disgusting pervert!
That was my first and last visit to Bramall Lane. If I remember we were absolutely shocking that day and should of been murdered.
Rodney Green home vs Mansfield to make it 2-1 in the 68-69 promotion season. Pitch was an absolute mudheap and it looked like he was dragging 2 Mansfield players with him as he crashed it in from the edge of the box.
Do I remember us being 3-0 down to Bristol Rovers or someone a few years ago and Tommy Mooney I think scored a last minute equaliser that felt like a winner? Was when the home crowd was in the Vic end probably late 90s.
If that was the one in the 97/98 season then Steve Palmer’s goal was an equaliser in that game. I was there and pretty sure that was the only shot we had on target all game. Recall their goal was after Gabbiadini tripped himself up to get a penalty.
Despite that scoreline, I remember Abdi and Lonergan having a duel between best shots and best saves. Eventually (Or perhaps, inevitably) Abdi won that contest but not for a lack of excellent stops. Also that legendary Gomes triple save after Parades murdered one of their players.
Blimey, I remember going to that game. I remember getting in the ground early and looking at their huge home terraced end and thinking, they will never fill that. But they did. I have a feeling Will Rostron had signed for Sheffield United, but didn't play?? I may be wrong. When we scored, I jumped up in the air landed nowhere near where I was originally standing . Do you remember why Stuart Hall thought our celebrations were "disgusting " ?
Richarlison with the last kick (header) of the game away at WBA to make it 2-2 after being 2-0 down. Limbs, scenes etc.
That was the one - I just remember leaving the house with well over 90 minutes played and not finding out about The goal until reading the paper the next day.
He thought we over reacted. I remember we took quite a lot that day and it was a proper knees up to the goal
I remember the Southend one, there was even a bit of a pitch invasion. Seemed liked we used to play Southend every other week back then.
...back in the days Mooney was playing as a CH as he hadn't scored enough goals in the 3rd tier to justify being picked as the CF !
That’s right. League cup home and away. Anglo Italian (we got thumped in that one) and home and away in league all done by end of January I recall!
Louza at home to Brentford last season. Oh wait he actually missed that. Vydra away at Palace was a special one.
Dom Foley vs Barnsely 2000 season - first home game of the season - so late teletext didn't update their scores until after the results had been read out.
