Do you by any chance have a statsbomb radar for Nandez (maybe for both 20/21 and 21/22)? Nice to be linked with a player who might actually come up well on the stats.

Thought you were going to ask for a statsbomb for the garlic bread for a second there.

I almost made a bad joke along those lines but I couldn’t think of anything sufficiently punny

Statsbomb seem to think that he's mostly played as a full-back/wingback both this season and last (alongside also being used in CM) which might **** up the data if true but:

I thought people in this thread are saying he's meant to be good?

He seems alright in the clips I've watched, but those are some crap stats.

Well being played in a range of positions for an awful relegated side can mask quality. His FBref stats are more encouraging, as is the fact that he was linked with £20m+ moves last year and has been linked with Napoli this summer.

Only just read the criteria you used. Very good, but I do hope that’s the premium Belgian garlic bread that we would be sourcing through waiter Bayat ?

Do you have a statsbomb radar for what you have eaten at Nandos?

Depends what you’re looking for. Have to factor in team quality, position on the pitch and role in the team

Imagine the state of Bayat’s chickens. Thousands of Kalus and Kayembes all staring on miserably from a small cage waiting to be find out what mid size town they are being shipped off to.

They certainly are, although still, what's up with his pass completion percentage ?!

Also, his tackling seems much more of a problem on the statsbomb graphic - is that because them being 'pass adjusted' is a more valid metric which makes a significant difference?

I can only comment on my visuals of him live. Played RWB and was absolutely nonstop up and down the wing all match. Put in some decent deliveries but was always tracking back and helping the defence out. His tackling and passing were good.
Would instantly improve midfield or RWB areas.

He used to work for Puma,I've a picture with him and others from when Gosling was the 'Puma Gosling ' centre.

I've got Dot in it as well but not sure who she played for. Batley perhaps?

We won’t sign anybody even half decent this window. We all know it. We will get linked with a few good players, see them go elsewhere and will be stuck with a load of gambles, Bayat clients and maybe a decent loan signing once the season is already a month old and we are already behind the six-ball.

Having a good start to the season means absolutely **** all. Look at Forest last season!!

I agree about recruitment though whilst we have the same dullards making crass decisions & getting 1 in 10 signings right.

  28. Malteser2

    Malteser2 Reservist

Yes but Forest had to change manager to improve!

You can count on one hand the number of good signings made by the club in the last three years. That’s a shocking record considering how much recruitment has taken place.

Forest last season sacked their manager to turn it around.

I don’t think you can equate having a bad start as meaning ‘f*ck all’. I’d be quite confident in saying the vast majority of teams that have won promotion over the years have done so after getting a good start.

I don’t think a good start is a requirement of having a good season overall. You can argue until the cows come home either way. Recent history is both full of teams who started well and went up, and equally some who started badly and had great late runs.

Where I think a good start would be welcome for us is that we are a relegated side. Without a home win since November. Get a few early victories and we can start shaking off the unhappy memories of last season. Start slowly and it becomes very easy for the feeling of malaise to continue. But with a new manager and a changed side, if it takes time for us to settle and we go stronger as the season progresses, it’s not a disaster.

Next season will be so weird anyway, with the World Cup break. Every team is bound to handle this differently. Some teams lose momentum, others may re-group.

For a relegated a good or at least decent start is needed to change the mindsets of the club and the fans. Relegated sides that have a good start tend to keep that up. Relegated sides that start poorly may turn that form around, but it may be too late for a crack at the top 2 (eg Sheff Utd). The champ is full of clubs relegated from the prem that haven't made it back up.

One could equally balance that with a reminder of how we started the seasons following relegation under GT and then AB, and how both campaigns then dropped off alarmingly.

Yet because Norwich and Fulham always seem to everyone complains it’s too easy for such sides to to get promoted due to the parachute payments.

They obviously just do it well !

Norwich as they basically spend nothing in the PL and Fulham probably had a better team last season than they did before .

  34. Hogg-DEENEY!!!

    Hogg-DEENEY!!! Squad Player

Norwich are well-run, but penny-pinching in the Prem gets you nowhere unless your recruitment is incredible, and Fulham tend to spend a lot of money in the Prem on players who aren't quite Prem level but who prove great assets in the Champo
